Monica Barbaro has been cast opposite Arnold Schwarzenegger in an upcoming Skydance TV spy series.
The actress, who is about to burst onto the scene with her role in next year’s Paramount and Skydance “Top Gun” sequel, will play Schwarzenegger’s daughter, Variety has confirmed. News of her casting comes just over a month after the show was first announced.
Schwarzenegger is making his TV debut with the series, which is described as a global spy adventure with a father and daughter at the center of the story.
The as yet untitled spy project is being shopped around to streamers, according to sources. It marks a deepening of the relationship between Schwarzenegger and Skydance, which already extends to two “Terminator” movies, namely “Terminator Genisys” and “Terminator: Dark Fate.”

Exclusive: Monica Barbaro (Top Gun: Maverick) has been cast as the co-lead alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger in a global spy adventure series, which is in the works at Skydance Television.
Created by Nick Santora, the series has a father (Schwarzenegger) and daughter (Barbaro) at the center of the story.
Barbaro was approached for the series on the heels of her starring turn as Phoenix, the sole female fighter pilot, in the upcoming Top Gun sequel, which Skydance co-produces with Paramount. It is slated for a theatrical release in July 2021.
Schwarzenegger’s involvement in the show also stems from his existing relationship with Skydance on the feature side, having starred in Terminator Genisys and Terminator: Dark Fate for the studio.
Santora is developing and executive producing the untitled series as part of his overall deal with Skydance Television. He also serves as executive producer/showrunner of the studio’s upcoming Jack Reacher drama for Amazon.

Skydance Media has reached within for a new TV head. Bill Bost, most recently Svp of Television, has been promoted to President of Skydance Television. He succeeds Marcy Ross, who stepped down earlier this month after launching Skydance Television and buiilding the TV division of David Ellison‘s film production and financing company into a bustling indie studio.
Bost will oversee all aspects of the TV department and the studio’s slate of series across broadcast, cable and streaming platforms. He will report to Dana Goldberg, Skydance Chief Creative Officer, who has recently stepped up her hands-on involvement in the studio’s TV operation.
Bost is a home-grown Skydance talent who started as executive assistant to Skydance CEO and Founde Ellison before being promoted to Manager at Skydance Television in June 2013. For the past six and a half years, he has worked alongside fellow Skydance Television Svp Carolyn Harris.
