Jimmy Herring, the lead guitarist in the band Widespread Panic, has announced his first solo tour in the U.S. this spring. Herring will tour with his own band The Jimmy Herring Band which consists of his selected ensemble of all-star musicians.
The 13-city tour kicks off April 24 in Greensville, Sc, with Colorado stops planned before the trek's final performance June 21 in Solano Beach, CA. The group will perform songs from Herring's 2008 solo album, "Lifeboat," as well as material from each of the musicians' catalogs, Live Daily reports.
The Jimmy Herring Band features Herring on guitar, drummer extraordinaire Jeff Sipe (Aquarium Rescue Unit, Jazz is Dead, Shawn Lane, prolific jazz maverick Greg Osby on saxophone, multifaceted keyboardist Scott Kinsey (Tribal Tech), and musical chameleon Oteil Burbridge (spring tour only) on bass (Allman Brothers, Aquarium Rescue Unit).
