This article contains spoilers for The Matrix Resurrections.
It’s been six months since the release of The Matrix Resurrections, the unexpected fourth entry in the cyberpunk saga that brings back Neo and Trinity for one last battle against the Machines. Since it bowed in December, diehard fans have continued to debate the film’s merits. Is it too beholden to nostalgia or is it too apathetic about the franchise’s storied past? Is it too meta or not self-aware enough? Does it earn its cathartic happy ending or is the third act too fan fiction-y? Your opinion of whether you think the film is good or not probably hinges on your answers to these questions. But one thing is for certain: it’s been very nice to have a new Matrix movie to debate about after all these years.
Say what you will about the film’s plot and action sequences,...

With "Deadpool" currently scoring such success at the box-office, word of a sequel being greenlit comes as frankly no real surprise. In a new interview today though, the first and second film's writers screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick have revealed that the new film won't get much of a budget hike despite the first one's success.
Speaking with Collider, the pair first touched upon the advantage of including fan favorite X-Men character Cable in the sequel. Reese says the plan with the character for the moment isn't to squeeze him into scenarios or other franchises where he's out of his element, but rather bring other characters into the world "Deadpool" established in the first film:
"I think there's a real conceptual difference between taking other characters and big things and bringing them into Deadpool's reasonably small, gritty world and the opposite, taking Deadpool and placing him among big...

Deadpool has been unleashed unto the world, and one of the first things many viewers said to one another after that post-credits homage, was, “Wait, did we just see a Helicarrier in Deadpool?” For one heady moment, a world in which Fox’s Deadpool may intermingle with Disney’s Marvel Cinematic Universe unfolded before our very eyes. Alas, as Drew McWeeny points out in his review, that’s likely as close as we’ll ever get to SpideyPool. See below: Concept artist Emmanuel Shiu (via io9 & GeekTyrant) revealed that he was "was asked to redesign the Helicarrier so it looked as different as possible from the one in The Avengers. And it had to look like it had been taken apart in some places." It was a playful Easter Egg that’s unlikely to go much further than the fanfic in our minds. While speaking with Drew in the interview below,...

If you haven't seen Deadpool yet, then you might consider this bit of information a Spoiler. So just in case you don't want to know what this Marvel Easter Egg is, I suggestion you stop reading now.
At the end of the movie, there's an epic fight sequence between Deadpool and Ajax on what looked to be a giant Helicarrier. As I was watching the movie, there was no question in my mind that that was a Helicarrier! But a lot of fans weren't sure. I was even getting texts from family and friends asking me if that was a Helicarrier and I would tell them, "Hell yeah, it was!"
Deadpool actually managed to connect itself to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in a roundabout way. The news was confirmed concept artist Emmanuel Shiu (via io9), and he says that he "was asked to redesign the Helicarrier so it looked as...

The Deadpool movie was full of a ton of Marvel related easter eggs, literally more than we could count. Most of them were obvious, a few were subtle, and a couple were actually dangerous. Deadpool made some direct references to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, something which the character is decidedly not a part of. One of those references has now been officially confirmed by the concept artist who designed it. Yes, that is a S.H.I.E.L.D. helicarrier in the finale fight scene. Here's Deadpool, falling off the crumbling helicarrier... which we now know, for sure, is a helicarrier! Emmanuel Shiu is the artist who designed the helicarrier for Deadpool. He tells iO9 that he was specifically asked to make the craft as different from the McU version as possible. It.s also seen in pieces, as it is either being taken apart or put together when...

Don't ask why, but yes, that gigantic ship thingy you saw in the final fight of Deadpool was indeed a Helicarrier. How or why it was in the film is still up for question, seeing as how Deadpool is a 20th Century Fox made film, and the Helicarrier has featured heavily in the Marvel Studios made films. But, to try and distance themselves from the design we've seen in other films, Fox specifically asked the concept artist who helped with designing it to make the famous aircraft appear as if parts of it had been taken apart and changed.
According to the the folks over at io9:
Emmanuel Shiu told us that he was asked to redesign the Helicarrier so it looked as different as possible from the one in The Avengers. And it had to look like it had been taken apart in some places.

Ever since it was first spotted in one of the trailers for Deadpool, there’s been a lot of speculation that the massive aircraft carrier which was home to the final battle between the Merc with a Mouth and Ajax was a Helicarrier. Surely that couldn’t be possible though, right?
After all, the Helicarrier is part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and just like Deadpool can’t appear in a Marvel Studios movie, one of those iconic aircrafts shouldn’t show up in his movie.
Well, it turns out that it was a Helicarrier, and that’s now been confirmed with the concept art below. However, artist Emmanuel Shiu has stated that he was asked to make it look different enough to ensure its presence wouldn’t cause any problems (hence why it’s so damaged and decayed).
Regardless, this is still a very cool nod, though not something...

As many of you have been claiming since it was first spotted in the trailers for Deadpool, the final battle between Wade Wilson and Ajax really did take place aboard a Helicarrier. Well, technically. While the piece of artwork below is quite clearly labelled "Helicarrier", it's way too soon to start talking about the Merc with the Mouth hanging out with The Avengers. io9 actually caught up with artist Emmanuel Shiu, and he told the site that, "he was asked to redesign the helicarrier so it looked as different as possible from the one in The Avengers. And it had to look like it had been taken apart in some places." So, it was a Helicarrier, but not in an obvious enough way to lead to any sort of dispute between Marvel Studios and Fox! ...
