The closer we get to the end of the season, the more octane is pumped in to the plots. This episode was no different than any of the others centered around the nefarious Wo Fat (Mark Dacascos), emotionally driven, high action fun. But there was a lot of heart in this as well, and we have to thank Ian Anthony Dale and Grace Park for that. They’re sudden relationship snuck up and smacked us with a lot of feeling, and really, I can’t take Ian Anthony Dale crying. Ever again. Basically, we finally catch back up with Team Five-0’s fearless leader, Steve (Alex O’loughlin) in Tokyo. Remember, he took off to find Shelbourne and Joe White (Terry O’Quinn) a while back, and it seems he actually caught Wo Fat! Well, catching him and keeping him are two different things, as Steve will soon find out.

On Sunday's (April 15) episode of "Mad Men," Megan (Jessica Paré) couldn't remember Ken Cosgrove's wife's name: Cynthia. And we understand the feeling because something about Cynthia has been nagging at us, too. The same thing goes for the buff dude who swooped in to Pete Campbell's Drivers Ed class and totally swept his jailbait crush off her feet.
First, though, back to Cynthia Cosgrove. She's played by Larisa Oleynik who, despite the homely "Mad Men" wig, is the same super-cutie who first hit our radar as the star of the mid-'90s Nickelodeon hit "The Secret World of Alex Mack." Since then, she's turned up in everything from "10 Things I Hate About You" (she was Julia Stiles' perfect little sister) to CBS' "Hawaii Five-0" reboot where she played CIA analyst Jenna Kaye.

I admit, there was a lot of happy cheering going on at my house while watching what is arguably one of the best episodes of this season to date. You can't go wrong with great action, suspense, a healthy dose of bodily harm, betrayal, redemption and Wo Fat (Mark Dacascos). And like all of my favorite episodes, this case was all character driven which kept the viewer investment at all times highs. We do love our team, y'know. Rule number one: never hide under your bed when someone is breaking into your house. It's the first place they look. The reporter girl – aka our victim of the week – obviously didn't get this memo. I hear wedding bells! Actually, it wasn't a huge surprise to watch Chin Ho (Daniel Dae Kim) ask his ex-fiancé Malia (Reiko Aylesworth) to marry him again. But it was damn romantic. I just have a knee...

"Ki'ilua:" Deceiver.
From Chin Ho proposing to the guys from Seal Team 9 tagging along to help rescue Steve, this episode of Hawaii Five-0 turned out to be quite a rollercoaster ride, and I mean that in the best way possible.
Okay, Chin Ho fans, who’s happy that he's marrying the woman who broke up with him when he was suspected of stealing from the police department? It's something we can all consider: how much are you willing to forgive the person you love most?
It’s easy for us as spectators to pass judgment on fictional characters, but I want you to think for a moment: what if the situation was real? Could you forgive the person you truly love for believing the worst about you? It’s a tough call. Thankfully, most of us will never need to make.
Now we move on the sad part. I hope...

Hawaii Five-0 will take a trip to two places tomorrow night:
North Korea Margaritaville
In the first case, McGarrett will head to that nation with Jenna Kaye to deliver a ransom to rebels holding her fiancé hostage. In the second, legendary crooner Jimmy Buffett makes a cameo as a helicopter pilot, while the team looks into the death of a reporter.

There are two ways to start an episode out right: a nice, nifty car chase through the streets of downtown Honolulu with a classic muscle car, and an even better bromantic squabble between the guys as they try to co-habitat. Whaddya know? This episode captured both beautifully. It also captured a lot of action, pretties and very funny moments too. A very sweet little 1960-something Camaro SS is zooming through downtown Honolulu with Hpd on its tale. After it ends up in the shipping yard, the driver manages to miraculously disapperate Harry Potter-style or something, because all the cops find are containers with more classic muscle cars and one car with a body in it. A body that's been wrapped like a present after surgery at that. Meanwhile, at Chez McGarrett, Steve (Alex O'loughlin) tosses and turns in bed while a TV blares downstairs. Finally, our shirtless hero – and to fangirl horror everywhere,...

Kame’e: The Hero.
Steve and his team worked to stop an assassin who was targeting Navy SEALs this week, making Steve and the Five-o team "Kame'e."
Who else is excited that Lt. Commander Joe White is moving to the islands, where he could potentially be a regular (or at least significantly recurring) character on Hawaii Five-o? I have made it no secret that I really enjoy Terry O'Quinn’s portrayal of White and this week's revelation just added to my budding man-crush!
I didn’t realize what a hot head Steve could be until Joe White was added to the mix as the sage wisdom-imbued father figure. After watching Steve go after Drayton in the cooler, I actually wondered if Lt. Governor Denning was right in his assessment that Five-0 had been over-stepping more than they should have.
Was Steve this big of hot head last season and I just not see it?...

Hawaii Five-0 Lost Extension and an Upcoming Death?
Hawaii Five-0 is making some changes to its casting as it extends the stay of one character and shortens another. The first bit of news, involving Terry O’Quinn’s character, Lt. Commander Joe White, is the more positive story. O’Quinn is a fantastic actor and must be doing outdoing himself because producer Peter Lenkov wants more of him.
“His original deal was six episodes, and now we’ll do another three,” Lenkov tells TV Guide. “And we’re hoping for even more.” O’Quinn is probably having a ball over in Hawaii, but what he really longs for is his own show where he is numero uno. He just might get his wish if Hallelujah, a new soap opera being rewritten by Marc Cherry (Desperate Housewives), is picked up. I’m still crossing my fingers for an O’Quinn/Michael Emerson series.

Officer Lori Weston Helps Hawaii Five-0 Shape Up
After a paddleboard competition, young champion Jen Hassley (Hayley Chase) is kidnapped. McGarrett must work the case with Officer Lori Weston (Lauren German), newly added to the Five-0 task force by Governor Denning (Richard T. Jones). Meanwhile, the still-suspended Kono meets the head of Hpd Internal Affairs (Tom Sizemore).
In last week’s review, I mentioned my hope that Gov. Denning’s crackdown on Five-0 would lead to tighter plotting. This week’s episode, “Ua Lawe Wale,” was noticeably tighter. For one thing, Officer Weston is the first member of Five-0 whose police skill set is spelled out from the beginning. Having served six years with Homeland Security and begun her career with the FBI, her background was just right to assist with the kidnapping case, and she applied her training realistically.
In addition to more discernible procedure, this episode’s plot...

Ua Lawe Wale: Taken without right.
The second offering of the season helped us fall back into the familiar rhythm with the Five-o, as the Steve and the team investigated a girl who was "Ua Lawe Wale."
What happened to Lt. Commander Joe White? There was no mention of Terry O'Quinn character that appeared last week to help Steve get his unit back together, despite the heavy advertising push by CBS.
In other news, who expected to hate Detective Lori Weston as the Governor’s watch dog? Now, raise your hand if you really liked her by the end of the episode? Okay, good. Me too.
I’m not going to jinx her and say she should be a full-time member, but I will say she brings a very nice element to the team with her background. It doesn’t hurt for Five-o to tap into some of the other...

The long awaited arrival of the second season of Hawaii Five-0 (TV) is finally here, and I'd really like to be more articulate than just saying "Wow!" But really, this season premiere is one big dollop of "Wow." Seeing this episode in Hawai'i, at Sunset on the Beach was phenomenal, but only at home was I able to delve into the details, the tasty bits and pieces I'd missed in the whirlwind of red carpet interviews and fan craziness. One week later (after the finale): the Governor's (Jean Smart) funeral at the National Memorial of the Pacific at Punchbowl. Chin Ho (Daniel Dae Kim) is at the funeral, still a part of Hpd…which we all knew was a way for him to still work the case and help McGarrett. Guess who's at the funeral too? Wo Fat (Mark Dacascos), looking sleek and worry free and yeah, this guy is That good.

Hawaii Five-0: Back to Pick Up The Pieces
As Season 1 of the reimagined Hawaii Five-0 came to a close, the writers put McGarrett, Danno, Chin Ho, and Kono in trendy cliffhanging jeopardy. Mainly, viewers will recall, McGarrett was arrested after breaking into Governor Jameson’s (Jean Smart) mansion to confront her over the death of aide Laura Hills (Kelly Hu). Wo Fat (Mark Dacascos) appeared out of nowhere, tasered Steve, and framed him for Governor Jameson’s murder.
In last night’s Season 2 premiere, an imprisoned McGarrett was led into the exercise yard, where his father’s killer, Victor Hesse (James Marsters) shanked Steve. The twist here was that Hesse avoided all vital organs, actually intending to give Steve a chance to escape from prison once he was loaded into an ambulance.
Victor later explained to Chin and Danno that Wo Fat wanted him to kill McGarrett, after which...

Ha'iole: Unbreakable, inflexible, stubborn.
The second season premiere of Hawaii Five-o reminded us why Steve McGarrett and his team are truly "Ha'iole."
If May's first season finale - with Steve being arrested, Kono on suspension, and Chin Ho back with Hpd - left you on the edge of your seat and made you think this episode was going to let you relax like I did... then we were both wrong!
So much happened in the first hour of this season. Let’s break down what we learned ...
Five-0 is Reinstated: Thanks to the Lt. Governor (Richard T. Jones), Steve, Danny, and Chin Ho are back on the job, but with some restrictions. They don’t have the total immunity they had before. Personally, given some of the outlandish stuff last season, I’m okay with it being brought down a notch or two it was getting into the realm of not believable.

Actress Larisa Oleynik is returning to CBS’s reboot, Hawaii Five-o. That means fans will get more Jenna Kaye. The character is an ex-cia analyst who TV Guide reminded us “was instrumental in tracking down the villainous Wo Fat (Mark Dacascos) last season.”
But goodness me, plenty more than Jenna Kaye’s come back is in store for the new and upcoming season two. We have got Sarah Connor Chronicles alumnus Richard T. Jones en route and the one, the only, Tom Sizemore will be along, too.
Also on Oleynik’s resume are Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman, 10 Things I Hate About You (the movie), 100 Girls, Aliens in America, Mad Men and Psych.

And the Truth will set you free… Or get you arrested and send fandom into a tailspin the likes of which I rarely see. Honestly, there were some great moments in this season finale. Alex O'Loughlin and Jean Smart killed it. But there were things that didn't make sense, character continuity that didn't work, and story lines that will Not work unless they turn out to be a ruse next season. Needless to say, I cursed while watching this. A lot. The Show must have to pay serious royalties to The King's estate or something because it's been 24 episodes and we're just now getting some Elvis music? Danny's (Scott Caan) watching Blue Hawaii, and yeah, I totally saw this coming… he's in post-coital bliss with Rachel (Claire van der Boom). I saw it coming, doesn't mean I didn't continually mutter "stupid, stupid, stupid" at the TV. It didn't work before with these two,...

Looking into the car bomb death of governor’s aide Laura Hills (Kelly Hu), McGarrett discovers Laura was the one who had anonymously sent him pieces of evidence from his father’s toolbox, which was stolen earlier this season. The last item Laura sent was the key to an antique bureau in the governor’s office. This led Steve to believe the governor (Jean Smart) not only had Laura killed but was also the target of John McGarrett’s last investigation.
Steve and the team determined the car bomb contained parts from a claymore mine, but when they found the seller, he claimed the buyer was Steve McGarrett. When Steve and Danno checked Laura’s apartment, they found it had been searched. A fingerprint sweep of the apartment turned up Steve’s prints, though he had never been there before.
The finale wrapped up the season-long mystery nicely. I never suspected the governor.

Love an episode chock-full of character development, inter-character relationship goodies and angst? Well, you've come to the right episode. Oh and don't worry, there are plenty of explosions, car chases and Steve rocking that thigh holster in all his badass glory. Let's jump off with a bang, shall we? We open to Steve (Alex O'Loughlin) heading up a military-like take down of a posh house, completely with Swat backup (oh hey, he finally learned what back-up was for!) Wo Fat is supposedly in the house, so Steve, along with Kono (Grace Park), Chin (Daniel Dae Kim), Danny (Scott Caan) and Agent Jenna Kaye (Larisa Oleynik) are there. Before the crap hits the fan, Steve cuffs Kaye to a squad car – because she is not a superhero and therefore has no business playing in their sandbox of stuff that goes kaboom – and then the Swat go in. Five-0 raids Wo Fat’s house, only to walk into a bomb blast that human trafficker Sang Min (Will Yun Lee) intended for Wo Fat himself. Danno chases Sang Min into a nearby house and finds an elderly man lying on the floor. Stopping to check the man’s pulse, Danno is overcome by a chemical weapon.
Thanks to Jenna Kaye (Larisa Oleynik), who came along on the raid, the chemical weapon was identified as Sarin, and Danno was given the proper antidote. Meanwhile, the team had to figure out how and why a possible terrorist attack would target that house in particular.
I liked that this episode got to the action right away. The threat to Danno’s life/larger terrorist threat supplied enough urgency for the entire hour. The Sarin was eventually traced to a Russian dealer, which furthered the theory of a terrorist attack, but this was...

I didn't have very high expectations for tonight's episode of Hawaii Five-o.
In fact, I was a little unhappy about it because I wasn't sure about the guest star, Sean "Puffy"Combs. So, I was pleasantly surprised to have my low expectations greatly exceeded with "Ho'opa'i".
Sean Combs did an outstanding job as undercover officer Reggie Cole. It was easy to like his character, and care about what would happen to him. Combs managed to realistically convey a man running on adrenaline seeking justice and revenge for the murder of his wife.
The only thing that sort of had me raise an eyebrow was when Reggie used two guns to take out one of the hired killers. Hawaii Five-o runs on action movie rules so a certain heroic badass factor often comes into play.
There was just something a little off that made the choice stand out. Perhaps, it's simply...

We’ve been without Hawaii Five-0 for a month and while this episode (‘Na Me’e Laua Na Paio’) featured a confrontation between Wo Fat and Steve (making it something worth looking forward to), it ended up feeling a little clumsy and somehow it didn’t quite fully work. The hour wasn’t all that well-paced and the introduction of a new character (Larisa Oleynik as Jenna Kaye) was handled poorly. As it was fairly obviously a filler episode, however, we can expect the season’s remaining offerings to play out some more interesting stories.
One of the main reasons that this episode wasn’t effective was because one of the two plots that it had was a lot more interesting than the other. The introduction of an analyst from the CIA (Jenna Kaye) brought somebody that is interested in tracking the Yakuza and finding Wo Fat (who is responsible...

Oh Hawaii Five-0 (TV), how I've missed you. Your snark, your very pretty cast, your epic bromance; it's cruel to be kept away from your awesome for so long. And there were so many hilarious things to enjoy in this episode, I don't know where to start without sounding like a fangirl – which I am. Superheroes, ComicCon, high-speed beach chases, and of course, the long awaited return of arch nemeses. A mother and yet another annoying kid are enjoying the pool outside a hotel when a body crashes into a tent. The body is Superman – or actually, Superman's much lamer cousin who can't actually fly, Splatman. But before we get into why some guy in tights does a swan-dive off the tenth floor, let's get some bromance. I don't like Jenna Kaye.
I know she's new and it will take some time for her to develop, but the introduction of Larisa Oleynik's character did not endear her to me. In fact, I'm a little shocked that McGarrett would allow her to join his investigation after her little sob story about why she was chasing Wo Fat.
"Na Me'e Laua Na Paio" was filled with little problems, making it feel like a filler episode. Its sole purpose was just a deliberate way to pepper some interesting things around a fairly run of the mill story. Or at least that's what it felt like when Hawaii Five-o splits its focus on two things at once.
If this had just been about McGarrett and Agent Kaye, or if it had just focused on the story regarding the murder of the man at the comic book convention, more could have been accomplished.

Larisa Oleynik has revealed that she does not really want a romance on Hawaii Five-0. Oleynik, who will join the show tonight, admitted that some people have been suggesting a relationship between Steve McGarrett (Alex O'Loughlin) and her character CIA agent Jenna Kaye. "That's certainly been the question on all of my single friends' minds," she told TV Guide. "The thing is, when it comes to romance with one of the leads, I kind of hope not. I really like all of their romantic storylines so far. So I don't know if it's [on] the cards, but listen, I won't complain if it is." Oleynik also revealed that Kaye has a "personal vendetta" against Wo Fat and suggested that she will not get along with McGarrett (more)...

Could Larisa Oleynik's recurring guest spot on Hawaii Five-0 mean a new love interest for Alex O'Loughlin's Steve McGarrett?
"Gosh, that's certainly been the question on all of my single friends' minds," Oleynik tells TVGuide.com.
