Prime Video has handed a series order to Young Sherlock, inspired by Andy Lane’s critically acclaimed Young Sherlock Holmes book series, starring Hero Fiennes Tiffin in the title role. Guy Ritchie is set to direct and executive produce the eight episode series, which will premiere exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.
Written and executive produced by showrunner Matthew Parkhill, Young Sherlock is touted as an irreverent, action-packed origin story of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s beloved detective in an explosive re-imagining of this iconic character. At age 19, Sherlock Holmes is disgraced, raw, unfiltered, and unformed, when he finds himself caught up in a murder mystery at Oxford University which threatens his freedom. Diving into his first-ever case with a wild lack of discipline, Sherlock manages to unravel a globe-trotting conspiracy that will change his life forever.

Now, we finally have a first look at the series thanks to EW's summer TV preview.

Though specific plot details are still under wraps, the series is described as "a comedic journey through time and space with a ragtag group of thieves and their newest recruit: an eleven-year-old history nerd."

“Rudy.” “Miracle.” “Eddie The Eagle.” “Invincible.” This small handful of films may admittedly all share a common theme revolving around sports. Still, more importantly, they tell true stories about underdogs with a dream, which can be found throughout many other related efforts over the past 100+ years of cinema history, as seen in titles ranging from “The Insider” to “Erin Brockovich.

Dexter Fletcher’s Ghosted is quite the family reunion.
What started as a reunion between long-time friends Chris Evans and Scarlett Johansson evolved into a reteaming between Evans and his Knives Out and The Gray Man co-star, Ana de Armas. When Johansson’s window of availability closed, Fletcher suggested the now-Oscar nominated de Armas for the co-lead role in the Apple TV+ action spy comedy, prompting Evans to call de Armas directly.
But Evans wasn’t done there, as he even recruited a couple other familiar faces to rejoin him on an Atlanta-based set, something this trio had done numerous times before on other films. Evans and two of the film’s producers also managed to lure another A-lister into the fold, but let’s leave it at that in order to maintain the surprise.
“Yeah, [Evans] did [play matchmaker],” Fletcher tells The Hollywood Reporter. “In fact, the last little surprise is a...

Review: Thanks to the blockbuster films of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Chris Evans has become synonymous with Captain America. Through roles in Knives Out and Defending Jacob, Evans has tried to stretch himself beyond the realm of comic books by selecting projects that are nowhere near comparisons to Steve Rogers. With Ghosted, Evans takes on a role that could not be any less like his iconic superhero role while still allowing him to have fun with stunts, spectacle, and a fair amount of comedy. Whether you want to ask about directing films including Rocketman and Bohemian Rhapsody, being the Press Gang bad boy or effing and jeffing for Guy Ritchie, now is your chance
If you hear the name Dexter Fletcher, I bet three things will come to mind. 1) Press Gang, where Fletcher appeared as rebellious teenager Spike Thomson in late 80s/early 90s children’s TV drama, 2) Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, in which Fletcher starred in Guy Ritchie’s directing debut in 1998, and 3) GamesMaster, where Fletcher temporarily took over the role of host in the third series of iconic 90s Channel 4 videogame show, before handing the reigns back to Dominik Diamond.
But he’s gone on to do so much more as one of Britain’s foremost current film directors: you’ve probably heard of many of his films, even if you didn’t realise Fletcher was in charge. There’s Eddie the Eagle,...

If you’re already experiencing The Last of Us withdrawals after the finale, let Screambox fill the post-apocalyptic void in your life with The Island.
Known internationally as Sløborn, the series combines elements of disaster thriller, coming-of-age drama, dystopian sci-fi, and survival horror. The German-Danish co-production was created by filmmaker Christian Alvart, who directed the genre films Pandorum, Case 39, and Antibodies before creating Netflix’s Dogs of Berlin.
It’s never been easy to be a teenager, but it’s particularly difficult for Gen Z, who are doomed to reckon with fears of the future — or lack thereof. As 15-year-old Evelin Kern (Emily Kusche) puts it in The Island‘s opening voice over, “Ever since I can remember, the world has been ending. Species extinction, deforestation, economic crises, environmental pollution, terrorism, and climate change. Happy days. Somewhere there is always the next crisis, the next war, and mankind has...

Josh Alexander has become the Longest-Reigning Impact Wrestling World Champion of All-Time. He claimed the title on April 23rd 2022, at the Rebellion pay-per-view, defeating Moose. He has now been the World Champion for 257 consecutive days, surpassing Bobby Roode’s 256-day World Championship run that started on October 26th 2011.
With his history-making title reign, Josh Alexander has established himself as one of the best pro wrestlers of all-time. It also marks an amazing, improbable and unexpected journey – from overweight, troubled teenager to the pinnacle of the pro wrestling industry, focused on perfection and nothing less. He even endured a serious neck injury along the way that required two vertebrae be fused together. Alexander, 35, made his pro wrestling debut in 2005 and was signed by Impact in early-2019. He has been the Impact X Division Champion and is a two-time Impact World Tag Team Champion as The North, a team that also was record-setting.

A new kaiju movie is coming to Netflix from Norway, and it looks like a blast. Today we have a trailer for "Troll," and we're not talking about the oh-so-delightful denizens of social media who will argue with and threaten you over even simple statements such as, "I like cheese." No, these are the trolls of folktales and legends, and they're much bigger than you might expect from the beginning of this trailer.
"Troll" comes to us from director Roar Uthaug (who also has a story by credit for the film). He's responsible for "The Wave" and 2018's "Tomb Raider" starring Alicia Vikander and Dominic West. The script was written by Espen Aukan ("Baby Boom").
When I say this is a kaiju movie, it's because this troll is huge, but also because the human characters discover a giant footprint, leading the dismissive officials to ask if this is King Kong.

Jaume Collet-Serra has a fascinating filmography that gets more and more interesting as time goes on. His debut feature was the aughts horror "House of Wax" remake, but he's now at the helm of the DC superhero movie "Black Adam." While the general public may know him best for his films like the Dwayne Johnson-starring "Jungle Cruise" or the Liam Neeson action thrillers "Unknown," "Non-Stop," "Run All Night," and "The Commuter," to horror fans, he'll always be the man behind "Orphan" and "The Shallows." After his foray into the DC Extended Universe, Jaume Collet-Serra is returning to his thrilling roots with the new film "Carry On."
"Carry On" marks the first collaborative effort between Netflix and Amblin as part of the overall deal Amblin signed with the streaming giant last year. Tj Fixman was behind the screenplay's first draft, with Michael Green providing the finishing touches. No word yet...

Poor Keith Duffy suffered not one, but two embarrassing trunk malfunctions during Saturday night's (February 1) Splash! live semi-final on ITV.
The Boyzone singer's skimpy green trunks, adorned with sparkly floral embellishments and described by some as 'budgie smugglers', kept falling down to expose his backside upon his entrance into the pool.
Luckily the star saw the funny side, and joked to host Gabby Logan: "I'm just lucky I got them back on again in time Gabby, or I'd be standing here in my birthday suit."
Clearly impractical but seriously entertaining, we take a closer look at Duffy's Speedos, and some of the other competing stars clad in silly swimwear on Splash!, below:

Saturday night's trunks, while rather flamboyant and eye-catching, weren't a patch on Duffy's very apt shamrock pair. Michaela Strachan seems to approve.
