He was a tireless advocate, had a large appetite for life, films, friendship, travel and fine dining! His artistic leadership of both the festival and TIFF Bell Lightbox was exemplary. Six Lgbtqia+ web series concepts will each receive $2,000 in development funding after being shortlisted for Screenwest and Screen Australia’s Out Now initiative.
The successful teams have begun development workshops for their ideas this week, taking guidance from writer, director, and producer Julie Kalceff (Common Language Films), writer, actor and producer Tim Spencer (Wintergarden Pictures), and web series producer Melanie Rowland (Lilydale Films).
The projects range from ancient covens of mystical characters to explorations of disability, diverse and Indigenous queer identities.
Screenwest interim talent and skills development manager Chantal Chateauneuf said the organisers had been “so impressed” with the originality and creativity of the applications they had received.
“I am very excited to see how the selected projects refine their stories and audience engagement strategies through these workshops,” she said.
“We hope that each team will come out of the workshops with an increased knowledge of the online space, a stronger project,...

The Golden Globes red carpet looked pretty different this year — like, no red carpet — but a few things remained the same. The stars were all glammed out, everyone was excited and there were plenty of awkward moments.
Giuliana Rancic handled hosting duties for E! once again, this year accompanied by Karamo Brown instead of Ryan Seacrest. Together, the pair deftly handled the odd circumstances made necessary by Covid. Of course, considering the hosts had to conduct their pre-show interviews virtually, the weirdness was a bit compounded.
Here are some of the most uncomfortable moments from the pre-show on E!
1. Brown’s entire interview with Laverne Cox
Laverne Cox was one of the only stars who stood far enough away from the camera so audiences could see her entire gown. But from there, her red carpet interview got weird. In fairness, it wasn’t all on Cox. First came Brown repeatedly...

Ever feel like visiting Eleven in the Upside Down? Now you can, kind of, thanks to a huge, intricate corn maze with a Stranger Things theme. The maze is located in Indiana - fitting, since that's the setting of the show - at Exploration Acres, the largest corn maze and pumpkin patch in northwest Indiana. Exploration Acres creates a new corn maze every year for people to visit in the Fall, and the Stranger Things maze is the largest one yet.
Take a look at the aerial photo to get an idea of just how big it is - it's equivalent to about 15 football fields! You'll spot perfectly executed details, including a Demogorgon in the bottom left, the boys riding their bikes at the bottom, the Netflix logo on the right, and Eleven doing her telekinetic thing at the top as the Mind Flayer hovers above her.

After spending untold amounts of cash on hundreds of dramas and comedies — most of which will never make it to your living rooms — the five broadcast networks will begin announcing in New York next week which projects are good enough to earn a coveted fall pickup. (NBC and Fox will present their fall schedule to advertisers on Monday, followed by ABC on Tuesday, CBS on Wednesday and the CW on Thursday).
Buzz is already strong for several projects (for more on the hot ones, click here). But every year, we always wonder what diamond-in-the-rough was left on the cutting room...

ABC is nearly done picking up pilots for fall and, like over at NBC, there’re some intriguing high-concept ideas mixed in with the network’s usual “Can we have another sexy hit soap like Grey’s Anatomy pretty-please?” Also like at NBC, there’s a new entertainment president at the helm picking the titles — Paul Lee, who used to run things over at ABC Family before being called up to the big show.

ABC has picked up multi-camera comedy The Last Days of Man to pilot.
The concept: “Even though the world around him has declared the traditional male an ‘endangered species,’ Tim Fitzgerald is fighting for his manhood in a world that is being increasingly dominated by women.”
That whole “last real man on Earth” stuff is figurative, by the way, not literal. Tim Allen was in talks on this project about making it his TV return vehicle, but it’s unclear if he’s still in the mix. Jack Burditt (30 Rock) wrote the pilot, with 20th Century Fox TV and Lost Marbles producing.
