Star Trek: Picard reached the conclusion of its debut season this Thursday and fans are still reeling from it. The previous nine episodes had featured many moving moments, thanks to the return of several familiar faces long since seen in the franchise, but the season 1 finale went all out in trying to get us to sob our guts out. Riker returned. Seven got a happy ending. Picard frikkin’ died (and was then resurrected) and Data got one last farewell.
There’s a lot to take in, then, and some elements obviously proved controversial with certain sections of the fandom, but by and large, most folks seem to have loved the finale, titled “Et in Arcadia Ego, Part 2,” with some even calling it one of the best episodes in Star Trek history. Here are just a few of the positive reactions going around on social media…

Rick may have felt like it was déjà vu all over again when he squared off against another armored walker at the Scavengers' junkyard in the latest episode of The Walking Dead, and with plenty to discuss before the mid-season 8 finale airs on Sunday, The Walking Dead ’Cast team is back behind the mikes to share their thoughts on a new episode of their podcast that you can listen to right here on Daily Dead.

The war on The Walking Dead between the Saviors and nearly everyone else began with one simple goal: to kill Negan. Yet as the war has stretched on the likelihood of Negan actually being killed in season 8, or at all, has diminished. Negan has become a much denser and complicated character, while Rick has slowly grown less militant and violent. While the two haven't shared a scene since season 7, it seems likely that once they meet again, Rick may show Negan mercy.

When a show reaches its 100th episode fans are often treated to something special. In the season finale of The Walking Dead we get to see Rick (Andrew Lincoln) as an old man, but all is not as it seems… After the events of last season, Rick and his group, along with members of The Kingdom and Hilltop plan an attack on Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and the Saviours. When the plan is put into motion, will the attack have the impact that Rick hopes it will?
Seeing Rick as an old man, enjoying moments with his family and Michonne (Danai Gurira) tease a look into the future. This future though is obviously not real. We also see a different version of the future, though with a younger Rick. This Rick looks broken, which hints at some kind of tragedy. It teases that Rick may dream of the perfect future,...

For years, Vince Gilligan has had a simple message for fans of “Breaking Bad”: Please stop throwing pizzas on Walter White’s roof.
Unfortunately, fans have refused to listen to the show’s creator when playing tourist in Albuquerque, visiting key locations like the suburban house used as an exterior for the White family home. Instead, they’ve chosen to pay tribute to the Season 3 episode “Caballo Sin Nombre,” when a frustrated Walter (Bryan Cranston), attempting to make peace with his estranged family, tosses the large pizza he’s brought for dinner on the roof before storming off.
The “Breaking Bad” diehards are bringing their own pizzas to the house and hurling them up, much to the chagrin of current home owner Joanne Quintana. The Albuquerque resident is currently building a six-foot-high metal fence to keep fans out and keep her home safe. “We don’t want to gate ourselves in,...

The Walking Dead #168
Written by Robert Kirkman | Art by Charlie Adlard | Published by Image Comics
The Walking Dead is one of the few comics existing today where death still matters. Unlike the television show it does not play games with killing characters for cheap attention points, nor does it bring characters back to life in a glorified stunt. When characters do die rarely does the book linger on the death. Choosing to move forward as that is a part of life. These past few issues, however, a certain major death has lingered in every panel. as much as these past few issues have. Considering a once thought untouchable character in Andrea actually died it makes sense to let the death linger for some time.
Negan steals the show this issue as he shows why he is a resource Rick may not be able to give up no matter how much he would like.

Rick may have inadvertently killed Sherry but how will the Saviors react to this? Let’s see what happens with Andrea, if anything, I mean obviously this could last a good few issues.
I have heard it said that people don’t like Kirkman’s writing style or that they like his ideas but not his execution. To those people, today I say read The Walking Dead issue #167 and come back once you have processed the comic you have just read and I defy you to tell me Kirkman is not a great writer, with possibly some of the finest execution of a story you can hope for.
Soooooo, yeah, I guess we knew this issue was coming, to be fair if you read my last review you will know that I thought this...

If you enjoyed the action-packed midseason premiere of The Walking Dead – and let's assume like us, you did – then this week's episode ("New Best Friends") is going to make you very, very happy. There's more jumping around from location to location; more indications that our heroes are going to battle the Saviors sooner rather than later; and even one big, badass monster-fighting sequence plopped into the middle of the hour. Rising to the challenge of matching last week's freeway-wide walker clothesline, this episode puts an unarmed Rick into the middle...

Rick has never had a great grasp on the people of Alexandria. Despite Deanna's support, he's faced a lot of resistance from within the community, particularly where Spencer is concerned. The latter has been a vocal critic of Rick despite his mother's support for the gun-slinging lawman, and the actions of this week's episode won't give Spencer, or anyone else who doubts Rick's abilities, a reason to second-guess their scepticism of the Ricktatorship. Or rather, the puppet state Rick runs for Negan.

We're now eight episodes into The Walking Dead's sixth season, with a few months off before we get to chapter nine. And thanks to a controversial plot twist — or un-twist — AMC's cash cow re-entered the dreaded "cultural conversation" in a major way this fall, generating think-pieces aplenty about whether pretending to kill off characters constitutes bad faith or good business. Meanwhile, amid all that external hubbub, showrunner Scott M. Gimple has continued to move ahead slowly (perhaps too slowly) with the story from writer Robert Kirkman's original comics,...

Given how many times our heroes on The Walking Dead have been offered salvation only to encounter monsters worse than the ones from which they needed salvation in the first place, it's no surprise that they were suspicious of Aaron (Ross Marquand) and his offer of a new home for Team Rick.
Rick (Andrew Lincoln) was most distrustful, even as Michonne (Danai Gurira) urged him to reconsider, stop fighting and let it go.
In the end, Rick and the survivors made it to Alexandria – but not before Rick's overly cautious nature backfired and landed them in yet another life-threatening situation.

I guess if you’ve been consciously deprived of food, then a Big Mac must be welcome indeed. But that hardly makes it fine cuisine or worth the wait. So it is with the Caskett wedding in The Time Of Our Lives, which, unfortunately, is anything but.
And the fact that it’s tacked on to the end of a heavy-handed episode doesn’t help. The Time Of Our Lives begins with the revelation that Castle has been having trouble sleeping. Rick may be the star of the show, but if audience obsession is any indication, Daryl is currently the fan favorite character on "The Walking Dead." Now, the actor behind the crossbow-wielding badass is set to self-publish a book of artwork inspired by the character.
The tome, titled "Thanks For All The Niceness," is a collection of Daryl-centric artwork created by "Walking Dead" fans, including "The Norman/Daryl archetype [depicted] in tattoo designs, cakes, pencil sketches, mosaics and more," according to Reedus's website.
"'Thanks For All The Niceness' is Norman's way to show his gratitude in a compilation of artwork made by his fans," the site says. " ... Norman selected over 100 fascinating pieces that appear in this beautifully designed book. It's real art made by real people for real people."
The site also notes that most of the book's proceeds will be donated to charity, specifically the Bachmann Strauss Dystonia and Parkinson Foundation.

Last season, The Walking Dead set ratings records for AMC. Will the show's audience continue to grow in season four or will the numbers start to decline? How long can this zombie apocalypse series run? Stay tuned to find out.
In this season of The Walking Dead, Rick may not be a leader any longer but that's certainly not the end of his problems. The large cast includes Andrew Lincoln, Norman Reedus, Steven Yeun, Lauren Cohan, Chandler Riggs, Danai Gurira, Melissa McBride, Scott Wilson, David Morrissey, Emily Kinney, Chad Coleman, Sonequa Martin-Green, and Larry Gilliard, Jr.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show's chances of staying on the air. The higher the ratings, the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available -- typically on Tuesdays.

There were so many reunions on "The Walking Dead" midseason finale -- Merle and Daryl! The Governor and Michonne! Michonne and Andrea! Rick and Shane! -- but nobody was feeling good.
Life is still miserable for the survivors, and that's good news for us as the action-packed hour demonstrated over and over again.

8) Axel (Lew Temple) hits on Carol (Melissa McBride)
Sure, it was just a little moment of comic relief, but we appreciate all the laughs we can get on "Walking Dead." Carol putting an end to Axel's creepy flirtation with Beth (Emily Kinney) was funny enough. But the incredulous look on Carol's face when Axel explained he wouldn't bother flirting with her because she's a lesbian was even better. His response when he finds out the truth: "You're not?...

If there is one thing that The Walking Dead (TV) continues to do a superb job with is character development. Even if we don’t happen to like the direction a character seems to be going, at least they are moving forward. But in this episode, however, there are a lot of things to love… if you don’t mind having your heart ripped out by the emotions along the way. Let’s start with Rick (Andrew Lincoln). Arguably, the man has gone off the rails since Lori’s death. The Ricktatoriship has given way to “sitting in the corner rocking in fetal position”-Rick, and that isn’t a good thing. His group looks to him. But you can’t blame him. His wife is gone… not just dead but completely gone. So his subconscious has to deal with all this trauma. So we get the ringing phone, with ultra-mysterious people talking to Rick.

So far on Season 3 of "The Walking Dead," the prison and Woodbury have remained separate but creatively equal storylines. Tonight is the beginning of those worlds colliding, and raises anticipation even more for the final two episodes of the season's first half. (Yes, it's true, we've only got two "Dead"s left in 2012.)
Maggie and Glenn are now in Woodbury (but they're probably only seeing it the way Lieutenant Welles of the National Guard saw it, and not the way Andrea or even Michonne experienced it), and Michonne is about to enter the prison (assuming Rick lets her in). In a way, all three of them are where they are because of Merle.
"Hounded" opens with Merle and three members of The Governor's "research team" hunting Michonne. Apparently, The Governor isn't too happy about Michonne leaving Woodbury and has no plans to peacefully let her go her own way. When...

While Rick was taking lives, Lori was saving lives, but their marriage may have no life left. That was just one of many revelations in another action packed hour of "The Walking Dead."
"Sick" picked up right where last week's premiere, "Seed," left off: With Hershel bleeding on the prison floor and Rick, Daryl and T-Dog discovering they're not the only humans in the prison. We got to know just a little more about the prisoners tonight, and now three of them are dead -- two falling victim to Rick's new "zero tolerance" policy.
The prisoners had to know Rick meant business when they walked by Hershel's severed leg on the floor. When the first thing you see a total stranger do is chop off his friend's leg, you know he's probably not someone to mess with. As Rick warned Tomas (guest star Nick Gomez) early in the episode,...

The producers of The Walking Dead TV Show seemed to have addressed a lot of the major concerns from fans and the inherent moaners of the show. Not enough zombies. Too talky. Carl won’t stay put when told so. Well, the opening moments of the season three premiere of AMC television’s hit show “The Walking Dead” is more than happy to meet those complaints. In the first five minutes of the show we meet the group of survivors, as led by Rick Grimes, months after they were booted from Hershel Green’s farm in “Beside the Dying Fire.” There is absolutely no dialogue in the opening, and the group take down three walkers at random while scavenging yet another abandoned farm house for supplies and food.
You’ll also notice the house is filled with vines and overgrown shrubbery. “Seed” is the further evolution...

The Governor and the legions of undead roaming the Earth aren't the only concerns on Rick Grimes' mind. When "Walking Dead" picks up its third season this October, there's another big obstacle on Rick's path: his wife.
Actor Andrew Lincoln spoke with Entertainment Weekly about the damage done to Rick and Lori's marriage at the end of the AMC zombie drama's second season. In killing his old pal and Lori's former flame Shane, Rick may have inadvertently destroyed any chance at happiness with his wife.
"I'm not saying that it's irrevocable, their relationship, but it's pretty close to that," Lincoln said. "Every time they see one another, they're reminded of the shame."
Lincoln and co-star Sarah Wayne Callies were so devoted to selling the dissolution of Rick and Lori's marriage that they made the conscious decision to not even look at each other while on the "Walking Dead" set for...

This Monday at 10/9c, in the Season 4 finale of ABC’s Castle, the murder of an Army veteran puts Kate (played by Stana Katic) on the trail of the man who shot her – meaning she’s perilously close to revisiting the murder of her mother. But Rick (Nathan Fillion) has privately vowed to steer his partner away from that conspiracy-laden powder keg, lest he lose her — forever.
Will Castle be forced to reveal the secret agenda by which he has been operating – and thus be punished by Beckett for a perceived betrayal? Could this finale serve up the biggest blow to the “Caskett” relationship…...
