There are plenty of things one typically associates with rocker Kid Rock and his music – booze, women and trucks to name a few – but symphony doesn’t usually come to mind. However, believe-it-or-not, Rock is planning a special evening for his Twisted Brown Trucker Band to be joined by the Detroit Symphony Orchestra in his hometown.
On May 12, Rock and Twisted Brown Trucker will have one special performance with the symphony at the town’s 5,000 capacity Fox Theatre with proceeds going to the institution.
“As a musician, a cultural institution like that in Detroit is important, and I thought I could do it. I thought it would be something different to play with an orchestra and do something great,” Rock told Billboard about the unique engagement and also mentioned that he’s never attended a Detroit Symphony Orchestra performance before.

Friday on the Today show, Bettye Lavette performed .Love Reign O.er Me. accompanied by co-producer Rob Mathes and nailed the Who classic yet again. Ryan Ross and Jon Walker emerge from Panic! at the Disco with a crackling new album, in Bigger Than the Sound.

Last month, as I stood in a half-filled Austin, Texas, dive bar watching Ryan Ross, Jon Walker and the rest of the Young Veins fumble and fuss with their vintage guitars and organs, I couldn't help but feel a bit sorry for them. When Ross' girlfriend (the Like's Elizabeth "Z" Berg) began crawling around onstage, attempting to hook up her guitar pedals for him — because, as Ross would tell me later, he had "forgotten" his — I somehow felt a lot worse.
After all, this was Ryan Ross, the same kid I had watched stalk the stage at a sold-out (and very loud) arena in 2006, the same brilliant boy-child who had written one of my favorite albums of 2008. I had such high hopes for him.

Guitarist is working out label issues, thinking up a name for his band with former Panic! bassist Jon Walker.

Over the past week, Ryan Ross has talked about splitting from Panic! at the Disco and answered questions about that now-infamous cocaine photo. But all he wants to discuss is his new music.
Because, really, the songs he's written with former Panic! bassist Jon Walker were the reason he decided to leave the band in the first place. They were a departure from the glossy pop tunes Brendon Urie and Spencer Smith were working on — they looked backward as opposed to forward, focusing instead on the crackling punch of old Stax Records 45s and the jangly pop of the Kinks — and the difference in musical direction was great enough to send him packing.

Las Vegas-based rock band Panic! At the Disco have released a music video for their newest song "Northern Downpour". Directed by Behn Fannin and produced by Refused TV, the music video was filmed in Los Angeles in late September.
Traveling back to the point of being black-and-white, the video displays the band's members playing their song with old-schooled wardrobes. As it nears the end, people are shown mopping around the musicians shoveling the dirt on the field.
"Northern Downpour" is Rob Mathes-produced single off the band's second album "Pretty. Odd." Recorded at Palms Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada and at Abbey Road Studios in London, England, the effort has been dropped in the U.S. market since March 25.
