With speculation of a WWE return ongoing, wrestling stars Trinity Fatu, aka Naomi, and Mercedes Varnado, aka Sasha Banks, enjoyed a Monday night out for a big event, and it wasn’t WWE Raw.
Instead, the former WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions hit up the premiere of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, the newest Marvel series headed to Disney Plus.
Both women donned green in honor of She-Hulk, with Naomi wearing a full green bodysuit featuring beads arranged in stylish lines. Adding to that look, she had on green eye shadow and her hair expertly braided.
For the premiere, held at The El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood, California, Sasha Banks wore a sleek black skirt featuring a glittery green top.

Little did Asuka know that when she won the Money in the Bank ladder match on Sunday night, she was winning the Raw Women’s Championship. It was revealed on last night’s episode of Monday Night Raw that inside the briefcase wasn’t a contract for an automatic title shot, but instead the title itself. That’s because Raw Women’s Champion, Becky Lynch, had to relinquish the title and will be going on a hiatus after revealing on the show that she’s pregnant; Lynch is engaged to former WWE Champion Seth Rollins.
Lynch isn’t the first member of the roster to take time off while starting a family. Brie Bella and Daniel Bryan had a child not long after she retired from pro wrestling full-time. Nikki Bella and Brie Bella are both currently expecting and Maria Kanellis just welcomed a newborn a few months ago with her husband,...

If you haven’t watched an episode of WWE Ride Along, the concept is as simple as they come. A selection of WWE performers are filmed while they travel from city to city on various legs of their year-round live event tour. It’s been going on for a while now and seems to be an inexpensive way to provide an original program.
The latest episode see’s Braun Strowman, EC3 and Drake Maverick travelling together, and in another car, we see Mike and Maria Kanellis. The episodes generally last only 20 minutes or so, which can be a bit too fast, causing us to never really see many deep or meaningful conversations. This would, in all honesty, be a much better show if we spend an hour listening to road-stories with various WWE wrestlers as they drove from town-to-town, but instead we generally see travel partners joke around, often in a rather scripted manner,...

Battling Natalya in a Submission Match may be a taller order than Becky Lynch anticipates: For all The Man’s bravado, she found herself ensnared in The Queen of Harts’ Sharpshooter for the second consecutive week, this time at the conclusion of a tag team bout that paired Lynch and Charlotte Flair against their respective SummerSlam opponents, Natalya and WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus. And sure enough, the bout lived up to its unique name when the 24/7 hopefuls — who had surrounded the ring in anticipation of the match’s end — made their move once Truth pinned Maverick to retain his title. Welcome to this edition of The Last Week In Wrestling, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and this one is on time… I think. This week, we’ve got some fine wrestling to cover, which is never a bad thing. Some-times, when I write this, I feel like I’m Mary Berry from “The Great British Bake-Off”. I was pissed when I found out the show wasn’t called “The Great British Baking Show”, because our American version of the title is the wrong one. Any-way, we’ve got our own show-stopper to get to…but it isn’t Shawn Michaels, because he’s back to retirement. Here comes the last week in wrestling.

After being defeated by Tony Nese last week thanks to WWE Cruiserweight Champion Buddy Murphy, Noam Dar looked to earn a big win against Mike Kanellis while he waits to seek retribution against Murphy. With Maria on commentary, The Scottish Supernova made sure to wave to her before taking an early advantage against her husband. As Dar unloaded on his opponent outside the ring,...

Match #1: Tony Nese def. Noam Dar The following is courtesy of WWE.com:
Following his triumphant title defense at Survivor Series, WWE Cruiserweight Champion Buddy Murphy returned to WWE 205 Live to address the WWE Universe, celebrating his victory and saying he can’t be stopped. With that, his training partner Tony Nese made his way to the ring to face Noam Dar. Splitting his time between WWE 205 Live and Nxt UK, The Scottish Supernova was more than eager to accept the opportunity to face The Premier Athlete and make a statement. Both Superstars beamed with confidence as the match got underway, but Nese’s power gave him an early advantage.

Match #1: Drew Gulak & Gentleman Jack Gallagher def. Akira Tozawa and The Brian Kendrick The following is courtesy of WWE.com:
Ever since Drew Gulak and Gentleman Jack Gallagher turned on The Brian Kendrick, The Man with a Plan has forged an alliance out of necessity with longtime rival Akira Tozawa. Kendrick and Tozawa have united by way of mutual enemies, and while their partnership is uneasy at best given their history, they had their first opportunity to test their alliance against Gulak and Gallagher in tag team action. Match #1: Kalisto & Lince Dorado def. Tjp & Mike Kanellis The following is courtesy of WWE.com:
Wearing Gran Metalik’s mask – as well as the other masks he’s collected from The Lucha House Party – Tjp joined forces with Mike Kanellis to face off against their mutual adversaries. Hoping to continue to build momentum after an impressive victory against The Revival on Raw, Kalisto and Lince Dorado were ready for a fight and looking for retribution against The Cruisergreat and Kanellis. Early in the contest, Tjp attempted to rip off Kalisto’s mask but was quickly countered as Kalisto and Dorado unleashed an offensive flurry that didn’t skip a beat and forced Tjp to the corner for the tag. Kanellis didn’t fare much better, and the duo was forced to the outside to re-strategize.

With an undefeated record on WWE 205 Live – including victories against former WWE Cruiserweight Champion Akira Tozawa and Noam Dar – plus his relationship with Bobby Lashley on Raw, Lio Rush is riding high and looking to prove he’s ready for anything. Feeling that WWE 205 Live General Manager Drake Maverick is not giving him the opportunities he deserves, The Man of the Hour issued an open challenge to prove there is no one better or faster than him. While Donald Trump went from reality TV to politics, newly minted Celebrity Apprentice host Arnold Schwarzenegger is taking the opposite approach.
"I've been governor twice in California, and now to go and go to this is terrific for me. And for him, it's great to go from this to politics," Schwarzenegger, now six years removed from office, told Et. "The bottom line is, the country, America, where do you have the possibilities to do that many things? Only in America."

Donald Trump wasn’t always such a big fan of “locker room talk.” Back in 2010, Trump fired “Celebrity Apprentice” contestant and former WWE wrestler Maria Kanellis for comments she made about another contestant. Kanellis was upset with Australian celebrity chef Curtis Stone for leaving a … smelly deposit in a dressing room. When Kanellis called Stone out on it in the boardroom, Trump said, “That’s a little below the belt, Maria, don’t you think? That’s a tough one.” Before removing her from the show, he went on to say, “This is my boardroom. It’s not a locker room.

In yet another sign that Tna is in its death throes, two of the company’s most loyal performers have asked for and been granted their release.
Both Eric Young and Bobby Roode fulfilled their final commitments at this past weekend’s tapings and have officially departed the organization they had been with for more than a decade.
The news comes as a bit of a surprise because we all assumed both men would remain with the promotion until it ceased to exist, but this could be a case of abandoning ship before it’s fully submerged.
Heading into the TV taping both men were champions, with Roode holding the tag team titles alongside his Beer Money partner James Storm while Young was the King of the Mountain. Hallelujah! There is a miracle happening before our very eyes in Tna and on Impact Wrestling. Not just a miracle, but “The Miracle” Mike Bennett. The new signing made his debut alongside his wife and fashion consultant Maria Kanellis during Tna’s debut on Pop TV. This came after the two fulfilled their contractual obligations with Ring of Honor after a successful run in The Kingdom. Bennett, 30, recalled staying up at night thinking about their professional futures in December, and says they felt wanted by Tna. “It was one of those things where it just felt right,” he said. “I know … Continue reading →

It’s incredibly difficult to stay on top in the WWE, mostly because the powers that be — a.k.a Vince McMahon — are the ones to decide who gets pushed as champion and who gets zero TV time. Thanks to this business model, there is a revolving door of talent that roll in and out of the company. For the most part, people who leave have average to less than average success among other organizations. Although, there is a small group that is better off when they leave the #1 wrestling promotion in the world.
To a lesser extent, some wrestlers are able to “find themselves” outside of the WWE, like Maria Kanellis. In the WWE she was always a sidekick or just an airhead gimmick, but in Roh she’s the Queen, she’s “The First Lady of Roh” and has become one of the best heel managers in the world.

Santino Marella & Tamina Smuka. Eve Torres & Chris Masters. Charlie Haas & Maria Kanellis. Mickie James & The Great Khali. Mark Henry & Mae Young. Randy Orton & Stephanie McMahon and Kaitlyn & Hornswoggle.
These are but a simple seven of the enormous plethora of pairs whom have locked lips for a ratings pop in their WWE careers. Sometimes for romance, sometimes for comedy, occasionally out of a genuine real-life affection, the kiss has become a recurring image in the pro-wrestling universe, so much so it’s become a bit clichéd.
There have been some absolutely awkward and pointless kisses over the years in WWE, some of which you’ll find in the opening paragraph. However, on occasion, WWE has paired two performers together on-screen with a genuine chemistry. Whether as a one-shot deal or a recurring relationship, they’ve produced a selection of kisses that were genuinely hot, leading to folks in the arena...

This week, World Wrestling Entertainment has celebrated SmackDown’s 15th birthday by looking back at its greatest matches, moments, feuds and Superstars. While names such as Kurt Angle, Edge, The Undertaker, Big Show, Brock Lesnar and Batista have been thrown around regularly, and rightfully so. Those competitors dominated the brand for a great portion of its decade-plus long existence and cemented their legacies as the greatest stars in the show’s history. But SmackDown has never exclusively been a boy’s club. On the contrary; SmackDown was meant to be a showcase for the WWE Divas, who were a major part of the success of the Attitude Era and key to the popularity of Vince McMahon’s company with the ever-important 18-35 male demographic. And since its inception in August 1999, it has been home to some of the most popular and successful female performers in WWE history.

At Wrestlemania XI in 1995, Shawn Michaels and Diesel entered the ring for a WWE Championship match. This was a surprising turn of events- a classic pro-wrestling swerve- as all Vince McMahon and Jerry Lawler had spoke about on commentary all night was the fact Todd Pettengill had lost Pamela Anderson. As it was, things turned out fine because Diesel found her and she came to the ring attached to his arm, which meant nobody really noticed Diesel was there. All eyes were on Pamela… or at least, on a part of Pamela. The next year, Sable debuted along with Marlena and a trend had begun. A new era in WWE was upon us! This was the Implant Era and it went hand-on-breast with the boom of Steve Austin and The Rock over on the men’s side of things.

The Wrestling Observer reports that Scott Hall has spurned a ‘get well soon’ card for a child with terminal cancer. It’s the latest in a sting of incomprehensible incidents around Hall’s actions and attitude.
Despite having made vast riches in the wrestling boom period, despite asking fans to pay for his own recent surgeries, Hall couldn’t even spare his signature for the sick child’s card. The Observer notes that this move will have infuriated Bill Goldberg, who already disliked Hall, and who was taking the cause of the child personally.
The young boy is six year old Danny Nickerson. He lives in Boston and the Observer states that he may not have much time left. Several big name wrestlers were asked to sign a card for him at a Phoenix Autograph event. All of them obliged, including Ric Flair, Bill Goldberg, Kevin Nash, Bret Hart and Edge.

Film4 FrightFest will be screening a record twenty short films, twelve of them world premieres, at this year’s August event at the Vue West End, Leicester Square – including the latest from director Federico Zampaglione entitled Remember, the Fiona Dourif starring She (which I backed on Kickstarter many moons ago) and the second Jessica Cameron-starring production showing at Frightfest, the UK-lensed short The Tour.

I’m sure most fans would like people to think that the only reason they stay tuned in when the WWE Divas are wrestling is for the athletic ability on display and the in-ring storytelling. That they enjoy the women wrestlers in the same way they do the men, viewing them as nothing other than competitors trying to reach the pinnacle of their chosen profession
Come on, son.
When women wrestling began, that may have been true, as most of the performers were average to below average-looking scrappers who were much more intimidating than titillating. But since the late 90s, female wrestling has taken a dramatic turn, evolving into more exhibitionist displays with a peep show aesthetic, with a roster populated with gorgeous models.
That’s not to say the wrestling was bad. Quite the contrary, actually. Along with the influx of eye candy came a drastic improvement in workrate.

Cm Punk and Aj Lee were married on Friday, according to a report at sescoops.com.
In many ways the wedding date was Punk all over, Friday the 13th, unlucky for some, but Phil Brooks has always enjoyed being different.
The former WWE Champion and current WWE diva began dating in the autumn of 2013, embarking on a whirlwind romance which resulted in them getting engaged in April of this year. This is quite the turn around for Punk who previously seemed a commitment-phobe in numerous previous relationships with WWE divas such as Maria Kanellis and Amy ‘Lita’ Dumas.
Lee has only just recently moved in with Punk at his Chicago residence. She’s currently taking time off from WWE but is expected to return soon. The Wrestling Observer noted earlier this week that Aj’s sabbatical wasn’t planned with her wedding in mind, with the time being...

Before the dawn of the PG Era, it wasn’t uncommon for the Divas to engage in a match-up that would end with the humiliation of their opponents and the expanding of their own vanity: the Bra & Panties Match!
When the PG Era took over, this popular match type was one of the first things to vanish along with the Evening Gown Match and their distant cousins the Lingerie Match, the Paddle-on-a-Pole Match, and every match ever contested in a trough of mud, gravy, eggnog, or pudding.
Although the PG Era may have killed the more risque matches, that doesn’t mean we can’t pay homage to them. Here we will be counting down WWE’s Top 22 Most Titillating T&A Matches. Like Scott Wilson ("The Walking Dead"), Robert Patrick (Terminator 2: Judgment Day, "The X-Files"), Sharknado director Anthony C. Ferrante and Jason Simmons ("Charmed") making their first ever convention appearances. How about horror icons Robert Englund, Michael Rooker, Gunnar Hansen, Kane Hodder, and Sid Haig; famous horror author Joe Knetter; and Twisted Sister frontman and all-around horror dude Dee Snider? They'll all be there carousing with the fans. One thing many Rock and Shock veterans always comment on is the laid back atmosphere of the festival and how the celebs feel comfortable just milling around with the fans.

Once again this year, Rock and Shock will turn over its main event Saturday night film spot to Woodhaven Production Company, who will deliver the worldwide debut of Army of the Damned with the entire star-studded cast in attendance!
We had a visit to the Army of the Damned set earlier this year (Part 1 and Part 2) and were stunned by the eclectic and diverse cast. Rock band Godsmack's frontman Sully Erna was there as well as horror icons Tony Todd and Michael Berryman, 'N Sync's Joey Fatone, wrestlers Tommy Dreamer, Maria Kanellis and Thea Trinidad, David Chokachi from "Baywatch" and veteran horror star Nick Principe. As fans of horror and entertainment in general, we thought our readers would appreciate meeting these cast members, and now producer Chad A. Verdi is making that a reality at this year's Rock and Shock convention.

You don't mess with a wrestling veteran or an entertainment news host... That's what Brie Bella, Nikki Bella and Eva Marie learned at SummerSlam this past weekend. In their largely anticipated Axxess match against WWE Diva Natalya (also known as Nattie on Total Divas) and Extra host Maria Menounos, no one held back. How did a journalist end up getting in the ring with a bunch of WWE Divas? Maria's been a fan of wrestling for a long time and after giving her support to Nattie over social media, a Twitter fight with The Bella Twins ensued and a challenge was accepted. Things got ugly really fast: Maria quickly learned that harsh words over Twitter...

We honestly didn't see this coming... Maria Menounos is making her WWE return for a special Diva match this Sunday at the sold-out 2013 SummerSlam event. She will be teaming up with Total Divas star Nattie, better known by her wrestling name Natalya, and will be facing Brie Bella from The Bella Twins in the ring. We're used to seeing a very composed and very sexy Maria hosting Extra or shaking her groove thing as a contestant on Dancing with the Stars, but before all that, she's been a WWE fan and has actually been in several Diva tag team matches! After sending a supportive tweet to Nattie, The Bella Twins responded to Maria in a rude way. It all went downhill...

To say that producer Chad A. Verdi has made a splash on the horror industry would be quite the understatement. In just the last two years he has produced films starring Robert Englund, Tony Todd, Michael Berryman and many more.
And he's just getting started.
Verdi inked a four-picture deal with Screen Media guaranteeing him distribution for his films before they were even made. A monumental feat for an independent film company. Now Verdi continues to add to his catalog of films, and even landed legendary director Martin Scorsese to co-produce a project he's always dreamed of making.
Verdi recently sat down with Dread Central to talk about his recently wrapped film Army of the Damned and his upcoming projects. "I feel Army of the Damned is the best horror movie we've made yet. No question about it," Verdi said. I think the actors came in, they delivered and with...
