Walt Disney Studios announces the world premiere of “Million Dollar Arm” on Tuesday, May 6 at the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood. Stars from the film will attend, including Jon Hamm, Aasif Mandvi, Bill Paxton, Alan Arkin, Suraj Sharma, Madhur Mittal, Lake Bell, Pitobash and Bar Paly, as will Director Craig Gillespie, Producers Mark Ciardi, Gordon Gray and Joe Roth and Executive Producers Palak Patel, Kevin Halloran, Bill Simmons and Connor Schell.

Former Cincinnati Reds shortstop Barry Larkin is the sole player elected by the Baseball Writers Association of America for 2012. He received 495 out of 573 votes, which is 86%, well above the needed 75% for election. This was Larkin's third time on the ballot.
The ceremony will take place July 22 in Cooperstown, New York. Ron Santo, legendary Cubs third baseman who eventually lost both lower legs to diabetes, will also be inducted. Santo was voted in by the Veterans Committee back in December.
"I'm just incredibly, incredibly moved by this whole experience and so humbled by the experience and so excited about being the newest member of the Hall of Fame," says Larkin, in a conference call with the press.
Larkin was a 12-time all star, who won the Nl Mvp in 1995 and in 1996, became the first ever shortstop to have 30 home runs and 30 steals in a season. He helped the Reds win a...

One time in my fleeting youth, I encountered George Clooney in the Warner Brothers screening room on 53rd Street after a National Board of Review screening of Steven Soderbergh’s The Good German. This is before I had, despite my ongoing poverty and lack of renown, spent ample time around movie stars and the merely sort-of famous at sundry locations, both foreign and domestic, becoming relatively at ease in their strange company. I still often felt not unlike the protagonist of Walker Percy’s The Moviegoer, as he follows William Holden through a blustery New Orleans afternoon, sensing some protean, dynamic aura from a man he had only seen as light reflected off of (or emanating from) the movie screen. I nervously approached Clooney, as he began to exit the screening room’s staging area after enduring a surely exhausting series of boredom-inducing exchanges...
