Ah, yes. Lobbying for a role. It's a time honored tradition with hit-or-miss results. As fans, we've seen high-profile suggestions be taken- like the seemingly casual way that Channing Tatum got Gambit by just mentioning that he'd love to do it. We've also seen people push hard for roles, but never be given a shot (sorry, Sean Young!). Which brings us to this weekend's buzz surrounding Tyrese Gibson. The Fast & Furious series star is currently using social media to campaign for the role of John Stewart in a Green Lantern reboot.
The action star, and former model, took to his Facebook and Instagram pages to post the following images:
20|20 "I am fully committed to suiting up for this adventure" - @Tyrese #Gl "In brightest day, in blackest night, No evil shall escape my sight. Let those who worship evil's might, Beware my power, Green Lantern's light!!!

A few months ago, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson announced that he had met with Warner Bros. to appear in an upcoming DC film, but didn’t offer up any details on what his role may be. Since then, fans have been throwing around all sorts of suggestions, including Black Adam, Doomsday, Darkseid, Cyborg, Green Lantern and of course, Lobo, a character he’s been rumored for since 2012.
With Batman vs. Superman gearing up for production and inching ever-closer to its 2016 release date, we’re left to wonder whether Johnson will appear in Zack Snyder’s upcoming film, or get his own solo feature instead. Of course, until we know what role he’ll be playing, it’s impossible for us to answer that question. Fans can, however, reach out to the actor himself, who took to answering questions on Twitter today and dropped a few DC hints along the way:...

Welcome to Issue 17 of ‘The Marvelous Da7e!’
This weekend is New York Comic Con, and I don’t think I’ll be as present on the floor as I was last year and the year before. There just aren’t a ton of movies representing themselves and as much as I want a plush Rocket Raccoon, I made a pledge to myself earlier this year to stop putting large chunks of my finances into the various collections of toys I have at home and the office.
So, unlike Nycc’s San Diego counterpart, we’re not expecting a ton of news on the superhero movie front. That means I’m not expecting anything groundbreaking out of the Con. Well, not officially. El Mayimbe usually does some worth-while partying that becomes fruitful. Little mustache-clad me will be supporting the industry by catching up on the half-dozen Marvel crossover events currently running.
