In 2007, ”The L Word” creator Ilene Chaiken had broken up with her partner of 20 years, and was looking to date — but realized she didn’t know how.
Chaiken’s friend Angela Robinson, a writer on “The L Word,” offered to introduce her to LouAnne Brickhouse, a Disney executive. Brickhouse was in a serious relationship, Robinson said, but knew everybody. They met at an “L Word” viewing party in West Hollywood, and Chaiken and Brickhouse hit it off right away. Yes, Brickhouse did set Chaiken up, but none of the dates went anywhere. The two women became better and better friends, and Brickhouse would give Chaiken notes on her writing — but Brickhouse still lived with her girlfriend.

Donner is known for working on Fox's X-Men franchise. She's currently overseeing X-Men: First Class, that Matthew Vaughn is directing, Deadpool, set to star Ryan Reynolds, and X-Men Origins: Magneto.
The new Gargoyles film "centers around a world and mythology that the studio was keen to explore, sources said. No, this is not an adaptation of the "Gargoyles" popular animated TV series. Zoe Green is in final talks with Disney to write a screenplay based on an original idea she developed with the studio. Lauren Shuler Donner will produce as a live-action film. The story tells of a world and mythology that the studio was apparently keen to explore. Green came up with the idea with Disney executive producer LouAnne Brickhouse. On top of new installments in the "National Treasure" "Pirates of the Caribbean" franchises, the studio is also developing a take on "The Wizard of Oz" which Sam Raimi ("Spider-Man") is helming.

If you're getting all nostalgic and excited when you see Disney and gargoyles in a headline you're going to be extremely disappointed because this has absolutely nothing to do with that animated TV series "Gargoyles" which Disney distributed in the mid-90's. Instead, Variety reports on development of an original live-action Gargoyles project from Disney and producer Lauren Shuler Donner (of X-Men) which apparently has a treasure trove of mythology in which the studio has interest. The idea for the movie comes from writer Zoe Green and studio exec LouAnne Brickhouse, but sadly no details on the plot have been divulged at this time. Apparently Disney is looking at this project as another opportunity to exploit create a franchise which will lead to a barrage of video games, toys, TV shows and plenty of other useless merchandise. Without any real story details it's hard to be excited or skeptical of...

Disney will celebrate "Opposite Day."
The studio is developing a high-concept comedy with that title and has hired "Nancy Drew" scribe Tiffany Paulsen to write it.
"Opposite," based on an original idea by studio production president Oren Aviv, centers on a corporate hatchet man who wakes up one morning and finds he must follow the exact opposite of his normal routine. Mara Jacobs and Scott Sanders are producing, with LouAnne Brickhouse overseeing for the studio.
Paulsen, repped by CAA and Stephen Crawford at Luber Roklin, penned 2007's "Drew," an adaptation of the classic children's detective series for Warners. She also is attached to write "Further Adventures in Babysitting," Disney's reboot of the 1980s teen hit.
Aviv has conceived of a number of ideas that became hit Disney projects, including the adventure franchise "National Treasure," for which he received a story credit.
Opposite movies have gained a quiet cachet in recent years in Hollywood, with pics including Brett Ratner's "The Family Man" and Gwyneth Paltrow starrer "Sliding Doors" offering variations on the theme. DreamWorks and "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" director Nicholas Stoller had been developing a project with the same name as "Opposite Day," though its status is uncertain.
