Paramount Global is planning a suite of streaming channel for South Park fans to launch on the ad-based service Pluto TV in international markets.
The series, from creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker, has aired 26 seasons on Comedy Central and spawned a 1999 theatrical feature, South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut. Now Pluto TV is doubling down on the South Park brand by creating a dedicated main channel across all international markets where the AVOD streaming platform is active.
Studio execs note the expansion of the South Park Universe on Pluto TV outside of the U.S. does not represent new content, as it will instead make the existing animated series more widely available on the ad-based streaming platform.
The studio also plans a series of monthly South Park-themed channels across Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Canada, Italy, Spain, Brazil, Latin America and Australia. As the South Park series expands on Pluto TV,...

There’s much to unpack from the South Park episode that revealed the true identity of Eric Cartman’s dad. These range from the Super Best Friends to the celebrities seeking to have people stop making fun of them — and, of course, their monster Mecha-Streisand. However, unraveling the secret about Cartman’s father is the most exciting subplot of the episode often ranked among the most controversial and memorable episodes of the adult animated television series. South Park season 14, episode 6, delivered a surprising twist that resolved the mystery surrounding the father of its favorite character. Cartman was introduced to the

South Park’s Eric Cartman is the poster child for everything wrong with the world. He’s a racist, sexist, Kyle-hating, mass-murdering, sociopathic maniac who’ll do just about anything to make his life a tad bit more fun. He’s got a voice like nails on a chalkboard, has absolutely no moral compass, and is very much the antichrist to those worried about political correctness in media. And yet, Eric Cartman is undoubtedly the greatest thing about South Park. Cartman is exactly the type of character you’re supposed to hate, especially in this day and age. So, how can someone so utterly despicable

Much of the long-term success of the South Park series rests on the shoulders of its often crude humor and biting satire. That’s something that spilled over into the last two mainline South Park games, The Stick of Truth and The Fractured But Whole. While they looked on the surface like South Park-skinned RPGs, both offered innovative gameplay alongside the satiric bite we’ve come to expect from South Park. Not so with South Park: Snow Day!, a repetitive 3D co-op beat ‘em up that brings nothing new to the genre.
It doesn’t help that Snow Day! seems aimed exclusively at franchise fans. Whereas The Stick of Truth re-introduced and built upon many of the fantasy alter-egos of the main cast introduced in episodes of South Park that parodied The Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones, Snow Day is mostly content to rehash familiar jokes tied to,...

For the most recent precedent for Grand Theft Hamlet, you’d probably have to go back nearly 20 years, to a 2006 episode of South Park. Titled “Make Love, Not Warcraft,” it found Cartman marshaling his friends to take on a super-advanced rogue player with a posse of killer crabs who has taken to killing everyone in his path in the Tolkienesque greenfields of Azeroth. This virtual psychopath sends shivers down the spines of the programmers at WoW’s corporate HQ.
After Sam Crane and Pinny Grylls’ documentary debuted earlier this week at SXSW, however, it is only a matter of time before directors see the multitude of possibilities to be mined from the gaming world, not least because the technical advances made in recent years mean that even the most basic console games can blow up to fill a cinema-size screen quite comfortably.

When Simone Ashley chatted with The Hollywood Reporter at the Sundance Film Festival alongside her 10 Lives co-star Mo Gilligan and director Chris Jenkins, she revealed a hidden talent.
Ashley stars in the animated film as Rose, a student who is a doting cat mom to Beckett (voiced by Gilligan). For 10 Lives, the Bridgerton star used her natural voice, but she’s looking forward to the opportunity to show off her knack for impressions.
“I would love to do a character one day with all these different kinds of tonalities in their voice. Like Stitch. I can do a Stitch or a chipmunk impression, or like Kermit the Frog,” said Ashley, proceeding to do an accurate take on the Muppet’s voice. She then took on Stitch’s voice perfectly, impressing Jenkins and Gilligan.

South Park has satirized all corners of American pop culture over its 26-season run. The show’s latest Paramount+ special took on the creator economy by poking fun at OnlyFans, Logan Paul, and the questionable influencer marketing practices Paul has used to advertise his beverage brand.
The special, titled South Park: Not Suitable For Children, is the sixth South Park installment that Trey Parker and Matt Stone have released exclusively on Paramount+. The 42-minute program centers around a sports drink called Cred — a thinly veiled reference to Paul and Ksi’s Prime. The kids at South Park Elementary are trying to acquire as many bottles of Cred as they can. Meanwhile, in videos that resemble the Prime Super Bowl ad, a South Park-ified version of Paul named Logan LeDouche inspires the kids to express their individuality (by buying Cred).

South Park is not what you would consider a sentimental show. Yet, for the many years the animated classic has been on the air, it’s proven that it has a soft spot for holiday joy. Sure, that soft spot just happens to include a sentient Christmas turd but that’s just the closest you’re going to get to ooey-gooey feelings with creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone.
In its earlier seasons, South Park‘s schedule often ran through December and the show was happy to provide viewers with an accompanying Christmas special. Christmas episodes have become rarer for the series since but there are still at least 10 distinct holiday installments in the show’s canon…and that’s not even including “The Spirit of Christmas” short from 1995 that would eventually become South Park.
In the spirit of the season, we decided to go ahead and rank all of the South Park Christmas specials!

The latest South Park special premiered on Paramount+ on Friday and took aim at Disney’s diversity and Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy, so you can imagine that Gina Carano had something to say about it.
South Park: Joining the Panderverse finds Cartman fearing that he’s going to be replaced by a diverse woman, and thanks to some multiverse madness, that’s exactly what happens and he’s sent to a universe populated entirely by women of colour. It’s revealed that the multiverse rip was caused by Kathleen Kennedy, who had been using a secret Disney artifact, the Panderstone, in order to remake the same idea over and over again to appeal to the largest audience. In true South Park fashion, the episode also slams the online trolls who have hounded Kathleen Kennedy over every choice she’s made.

South Park’s latest special skewered Disney for its recent box office slump, accusing the studio of lazily recycling the same ideas except with diverse casting. The episode particularly took aim at Lucasfilm head Kathleen Kennedy — while at the same time knocking online trolls who have piled on the executive in recent years. The result has caused right-wing celebrities ranging from Elon Musk to former Mandalorian star Gina Carano to weigh in.

This article contains spoilers for South Park: Joining the Panderverse.
It’s about that time of year again for Matt Stone and Trey Parker to continue their $900 million 14 TV movie Paramount+ contract promise and drop another near-hour-long South Park special.
At this point, it’s expected that these specials are the central platform for Stone and Parker to satirize recent social events but in the most outrageous South Park possible, as they do with the mainline show. Like its recent seasons, the specials have had a scattershot quality — usually plentiful in gags that are funny until tired or decent commentary on the rollercoaster years we’ve endured recently.
Nevertheless, it’s continually enticing to see which corner of American culture the creators will aim their tomatoes at and how ridiculously they will depict a central topic. In their latest special, South Park: Joining the Panderverse, the creators target the cycle...

After 26 years, 26 seasons, and 325 episodes of television, South Park could be forgiven for wanting to try something new. So that’s exactly what creators, showrunners, and stars Trey Parker and Matt Stone are doing with their crass, yet beloved animated franchise.
When the duo reached a $900 million deal with MTV Entertainment Studios to produce new episodes of South Park through season 30, they also locked themselves in to creating 14 South Park movies for streaming service Paramount+. The first of these near feature-length specials, “South Park: Post Covid: The Return of Covid” premiered at the end of 2021 and has since been followed by many more.
Of course, South Park has never been afraid of extended running times. Recent seasons have experimented with serialization and the series even received its own theatrically-released film with South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut in 1999. “South Park” had one big, unexpected villain in its latest special: Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy. “Joining the Panderverse” even went as far as to blame the executive for “why Disney movies all suck now.” Spoilers ahead.
Before diving into the madness that is “South Park,” some background on Kennedy is helpful. The real-life executive became president of Lucasfilm after Disney acquired the company in 2012, handpicked by George Lucas. Kennedy has overseen the latest Star Wars films — including “The Force Awakens,” “Rogue One,” “The Last Jedi,” “Solo” and “The Rise of Skywalker” — all of the Star Wars series on Disney+ and the newest Indiana Jones movie, “Dial of Destiny.” She is not involved with Marvel or Disney’s non-Star Wars animated content, though that doesn’t seem to be the case in the universe of “South Park.”
At first blush, that may make her an odd choice as “South Park’s” latest boogeyman.

It’s been over a year since South Park debuted a new special on Paramount+, but the long wait is ending with a new special later this month. Steel yourselves for South Park: Joining the Panderverse, an upcoming event special aimed at bringing the controversial series into today’s climate of inclusive entertainment, but with a few twists. Today’s South Park: Joining the Panderverse teaser finds the South Park crew becoming different genders, ages, and races, charting new territory for the crude-and-calculating animated powerhouse.
Here’s the official description for South Park: Joining the Panderverse:

Paramount+ has dropped the logline and trailer for its latest “South Park” special. “South Park: Joining the Panderverse” will debut in the U.S. on Oct. 27 exclusively on Paramount+.
The special will then be available in Canada a day later. Dates for the U.K., Australia and other international territories will be released at a later time.
The episode revolves around “Cartman’s deeply disturbing dreams portend the end of the life he knows and loves. The adults in South Park are also wrestling with their own life decisions as the advent of AI is turning their world upside down.”
The first clip for the special shows Cartman, Stan, Butters and Kenny as audiences have never seen them before: as adult women who in Cartman and Butter’s cases are of color. The only character who remains the same is Kyle.
“How does this even make any sense?” Kyle angrily asks in the teaser.

The studios are putting on a united front when it comes to the striking scribes and actors, but Warner Bros Discovery and Paramount Global dust-up over who really has the streaming rights to Eric Cartman and the South Park gang shows no signs of settling down.

Plenty of adult animated shows seem to last forever, but the most impressive thing about the decades-long run of “South Park” is the series’ willingness to evolve and change. Sure, the bones of Trey Parker and Matt Stone’s Comedy Central series have remained consistent: its foul-mouthed dialogue, offensive humor, surrealist tendencies, and central group of four elementary school boys have carried from the first episode through and beyond the show’s 300th.
But the exploits that Stan, Kyle, Cartman, and Kenny get into around their Colorado mountain town these days look a lot different than they did back in 1997, when the show first premiered. Over the seasons — and decades — Parker and Stone have stayed the primary creators behind the show, and watching it back is one way of tracking their growth as writers. After three seasons that relied extensively on toilet humor (not that fart and poop jokes have...

They haven’t quite killed Kenny, but Paramount Global tonight took a hard swipe at Warner Bros Discovery over South Park.
In a bold jab back at the David Zaslav run company’s February 24th $200 million lawsuit over steaming rights to the long running Trey Parker and Matt Stone created cartoon satire, the Sheri Redstone run conglomerate just filed a more than $50 million countersuit in New York – and they left nothing in the corner.
“Through this Counterclaim, South Park Studios seeks to recover all of the unpaid license fees, totaling more than $52 million to date, based upon WarnerMedia’s blatant breaches of the Term Sheet,” the response and counterclaims document says. “In addition, based on WarnerMedia’s material breaches of contract, and its indications that it will continue to withhold the $225+ million in license fees still owed for the rest of the five-year term, South Park Studios is entitled to...

The adult animated comedy series “South Park” is back with its 26th season, and the same crew — Cartman, Kenny, Kyle and Stan — are all back as well.
The Season 26 trailer of the politically satirical, sometimes offensive and always hilarious adult series opened with Butters in an extremely strange situation, showing how viewers will never be able to know just exactly what’s in store.
Coming off the height of its 25th anniversary, the series is now the longest-running cable-scripted series. And it won’t be ending any time soon, as it will continue on through 2027 to reach 30 seasons as part of MTV Entertainment Studios’ deal with the show’s creators Matt Stone and Trey Park.

“Screw you guys, we’re going to sue,” a Cartman paraphrasing Warner Bros Discovery essentially said to Paramount Global and the series creators today in a scathing lawsuit over South Park streaming rights.

Poor Butters! Comedy Central’s super short teaser trailer for South Park season 26 shows the kid’s in big trouble. But, really, isn’t that pretty much par for the course with Butters?
The teaser trailer was just the cherry on top of Comedy Central’s South Park news. The network confirmed fans of the adult animated series can mark February 8, 2023 on their calendars for the premiere of season 26. The announcement did not indicate the number of season 26 episodes, but we can hope it’s many more than the shortened season 25.

Many of us millennials literally grew up with "South Park." When the show first shocked the masses with its unapologetically vile and juvenile hijinks back in 1997, I was nine years old — roughly the same age as the foul-mouthed youngsters who made up the main cast. Stan, Kyle, Cartman, and Kenny were cultural phenomenons seemingly overnight; even my stiff, prim, and proper father struggled to hide his affection for the "respect my authoritah" moment (a cultural meme before memes were a thing). True, this may have just been a symptom of Dad's barely-contained disdain for his career in policing — he always did laugh a bit too hard at Chief Clancy Wiggum's incompetence on "The Simpsons" — but I like to think it speaks to the universal appeal of the show's sheer absurdist fun.
Like "The Simpsons," "South Park" peaked in the '90s, and its glory days of pop culture dominance and record-breaking ratings are over.

The second night of the South Park 25th anniversary shows at the historic Red Rocks Amphitheater in Morrison, Colorado Wednesday night provided plenty of surprises — even, in some cases, for the key figures on stage, not all of whom had been prepped ahead of time about a crowd-rousing musical cameo from two members of Rush.
With an unprecedented number of Kyle, Cartman, Stan and Kenny costumes sprinkled throughout the sold-out crowd, the concert got underway with the co-creators of the Comedy Central animated series (and proud Colorado natives), Trey Parker and Matt Stone, performed a rendition of “Uncle Fucka” that magically brought tears to some of those watching. Despite the expectedly crass lyrics, the song felt more like a ballad, with Parker at the grand piano singing his heart out and Stone on the mic shouting the word “fucka” with the passion of Pavarotti.

The second installment of “South Park: The Streaming Wars” arrived on Paramount+ on Monday. Plus, the platform is offering new users a month free of unlimited streaming access with the code Southpark through July 27.
“The Streaming Wars,” the first half of which dropped in June, is the third installment of 14 television movies that “South Park” creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone have in the works as part of a 900 million deal with ViacomCBS. The agreement, which the duo signed last year, also promises six new seasons of “South Park” to air on Comedy Central through 2027.
In a departure from the first two specials, titled “Post Covid” and “Post Covid: Covid Returns,” which were released in the throes of the pandemic, “The Streaming Wars” makes a welcome return to the comedy series’ more typical antics without overt references to Covid-19.

“South Park” fans in a handful of cities will soon get the chance to pore over memorabilia, props, storyboards and even never-before-seen scripts as part of an immersive traveling exhibit due to launch in New York City on July 23.
“South Park: The 25th Anniversary Experience” is inspired by the real “South Park” Studios storage unit where a number of the items that will be on display have been held for the past 25 years, and in that regard, the exhibit is housed within a custom fabricated shipping container.
The shipping container — which features a custom, Cartman-inspired paint job — will also serve as an interactive photo opp, giving fans the opportunity to pose alongside their favorite characters against three different iconic South Park landscapes.
Additionally, fans will be able to purchase “South Park” merchandise (including limited edition 25th anniversary items specific to each location) as part of the “25th Anniversary Experience” ‘tag sale.
