Don Pinsent
- Animation Department
Don was born in North Bay, Ontario in the summer of 1969. His father,
Haig (Gordon Pinsent's brother), was a
Master Warrant Officer in the Canadian Air Force, and his mother,
Faith, was a homemaker. They would eventually have twelve children, ten
surviving. The Air Force moved the family around a bit, but they landed
again in North Bay where Haig retired in 1978. Don began drawing and
creating his own cartoon and comic strip characters at a very young
age. In high school, he focused on his art and developed his talents
for cartooning and caricatures, but he was also involved in theater. A
funny and clever writer and performer, Don wrote and developed plays,
skits and stand-up routines with friends, and even found time to write
songs and teach himself the harmonica. After serving a two-year mission
in the Philippines for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints,
he married and went to Sheridan College near Toronto to major in
animation. Upon graduation, he was immediately hired by a Halifax
studio, where he has lived ever since. He now has three children, and in
addition to animating can be found on the Halifax boardwalk drawing
caricatures for tourists.
