Hank Aaron, baseball’s longtime home run king and one of the greatest players in the history of the sport, has died at the age of 86.
Aaron’s former franchise the Atlanta Braves announced his death Friday, adding that Aaron died peacefully in his sleep at his home, ESPN reported. No cause of death was provided.
“We are absolutely devastated by the passing of our beloved Hank,” Atlanta Braves chairman Terry McGuirk said in a statement. “He was a beacon for our organization first as a player, then with player development,...

Alex Rodriguez is one of the bidders for the right to purchase the New York Mets. Which could have led to a very uncomfortable moment or two in his role as a Sunday Night Baseball analyst for ESPN when the Mets were scheduled.
Faced with criticizing players whom he might soon employ, Rodriguez was spared the awkwardness by ESPN, who said they will avoid putting him on Mets games as he remains an analyst.
The Mets’ only Sunday night game is scheduled for July 26 against the Braves. For that game, ex-Brave Chipper Jones will replace Rodriguez as the analyst. Rodriguez will instead call the Dodgers-Giants game.
ESPN has run into the situation before. Last year, Jessica Mendoza worked as an analyst for a few Mets games, even though she worked as a Mets adviser.
Rodriguez and girlfriend Jennifer Lopez have a consortium that is one of the leaders in the bidding to purchase the Mets.

[[tmz:video id="0_dwlskku9"]] Legendary Atlanta Braves manager Bobby Cox says he's got a special place in his heart for newly minted Hall of Famer Chipper Jones ... cause he says the dude saved his job. To be fair, Chipper owes a lot to Cox, too ... Bobby was general manager of the Braves when Jones was drafted #1 overall in 1990, and the two won a World Series together five years later. That might be why Cox -- who most believe is...

Infield fly rule and Braves fans throwing bottles mar Chipper Jones' possible final game in baseball
The new one-game playoff meeting between the two Wild Card winners in the National League took place Friday night (Oct. 5) between the Atlanta Braves and St. Louis Cardinals. It was a wild game starting a couple innings in.
First, the Cardinals were able to get a lead on two unearned runs that stemmed from an error by Mlb veteran Chipper Jones, who is retiring after this season and therefore is playing in his last game if the Braves lose. And Jones was not the only error in the game -- the Braves, who were the best fielding team in the National League this year, committed three errors on the night.
Secondly, it appeared as though the Braves took the lead later when a throw to first hit the runner and careened off to the right field foul area, letting two runs score. However, the baserunner was on the infield grass...

In the trailer for the upcoming Pixar film "Brave," the movie's plucky animated heroine ventures forth to face the menace of a terrifying mystical bear monster. It's huge, ferocious and deadly, with teeth so big you'd need crampons to climb them. But as intimidating as it is, it's got nothing on the power of the new menace Pixar and "Brave" are facing today: Chipper Jones?
Okay, so maybe that doesn't make sense to you, but it makes sense to somebody, as Stitch Kingdom is reporting that the Atlanta Braves -- the baseball team -- is suing Pixar for trademark infringement over the use of the word "brave."
Well, why not.
The Atlanta Braves, of course, are one of the highest profile teams in baseball and not just because of the massive success stars like Jones have given the team over the past two decades. Thanks to the fact that they...

Psych made its best pitch this week. It swung for the fences. It threw a few curveballs at the audience. Point being: the episode was centered on baseball and featured a trip of fun guest stars.
Below, staff writer Chandel Charles has gathered a new quartet of fans - Kathy, William, Sarah Ann and Jamie - for another Round Table discussion, as they break down the latest antics from Shawn, Gus and company...
-------------------------------------------
What was your favorite moment/quote from the episode and why?
Chandel: Shawn and Henry arguing over his call at the game. It's been a while since we've these two engage in an all-out shouting match, but what made it even funnier was that Gus and Juliet were watching and providing commentary. It was a pretty entertaining way to begin an episode.

Tom Glavine did not wish to retire and so the Atlanta Braves, who did not want him anymore, did him the courtesy of releasing him. Perhaps another club, in need of left-handed pitching will sign him. There is talk of interest from the Dodgers and Phillies. But Milwaukee, in need of an arm, passed, having concluded that the Braves had not been encouraged by Glavine's seemingly fine rehab performance in the low minors. Glavine is 43 and is destined for enshrinement in Cooperstown. His return to Atlanta after five years in New York last season was injury-marred, and that only deepened what his longtime teammate, Chipper Jones, says is the enduring sting of having pitched his worst when it mattered most, in the finale of the Mets' 2007 collapse. A dreadful way to close things out for a pitcher who has...

Bad boys are so hot we can't help to love them! From their carefree attitudes to their mysterious pasts, we can't help but always fall for the bad boys. Johnny Depp, Colin Farrell, and Jude Law have all carried the title of bad boys while Beverly Hills, 90210 Dylan McKay takes the title of resident TV bad boy hunk. But move over Dylan -- there is a new bad boy in the 90210 franchise that is looking to stir up trouble and claim your title. Matt Lanter will morph into Liam Court who is the new student at West Beverly and also play the love interest of AnnaLynne McCord's character Naomi Clark. Matt Lanter is already part of the powerful Star Wars franchise and can be heard weekly as the voice of Anakin Skywalker in Clone Wars. He also just signed on as a series regular on the CW's hit show...
