5 Star Wrestling dropped its name in the hat of UK wrestling promotions that are attempting to shake things up and make the British wrestling scene a bigger deal than it has been in many years. Airing a special show on Spike, with rumours of it going on to further regular shows in the future, 5 Star Wrestling presented us with Dominant Wresting: Dundee, a program that was promoted with the image of Scotland’s own Drew Galloway (formerly WWE’s Drew McIntyre) at the forefront. It was interesting and exciting to see a new special show in the UK, especially with the coverage to the ITV Wrestling Special on New Years Eve and the WWE produced UK Title Tournament from Blackpool a few weeks ago. Many eyes are on the UK right now when it comes to professional wrestling and this was another opportunity.

The world of professional wrestling is a strange one indeed. Not many industries have an undisputed industry leader in terms of size and reputation. Indeed, not many industries are as terrifyingly dominated as pro graps is. Coca Cola is one of the biggest companies in the world, but when it comes to fizzy drinks people are also aware of Pepsi and others. When it comes to wrestling and the majority of the mainstream, WWE is wrestling.
It would add up that the goal of any (Western) professional wrestler would be to make it to the WWE. Many heralded independent stalwarts have made it with great success, especially over the last few years, but WWE can also end up moving careers squarely towards the mud, where incredible performers get bogged down in McMahon’s self-defeating booking and general schlong-waving.

This week’s Impact Wrestling had a lot to answer for after last week’s shocking revelation that Karen and Jeff Jarrett were the masterminds behind the recent chaos in Tna. Though this storyline is evidently going to be slow-bled for a while (possibly leading to a huge showdown at Bound for Glory?), the wheels sure got turning this week, with a number of bizarre and unexpected moments leading the way.
As usual, fans had terrible signs and EC3 cut a promo you won’t soon forget, while Jeff Hardy made a career change for the foreseeable future, and a number of Tna talents showed up to reminder you that, yes, they are still employed by the company. Sure, Josh Matthews continued to lie about Impact trending worldwide and he had to shill more lame Destination America shows, but hey, he didn’t embarrass himself as much as usual this week,...

Global Force Wrestling
The angle that will start the Global Force Wrestling invasion of Tna Impact will begin on the July 22nd edition of Impact, according to the Wrestling Observer.
That show will air on a slight tape delay on Destination America while the other shows in July have already been taped. The storyline will continue with Gfw’s first ever TV tapings in Las Vegas on July 24.
Current Tna stars that will take part in the Gfw tapings are long-time performers Bobby Roode and Eric Young, both of whom are close with Gfw’s owner Jeff Jarrett. Young will also be taking part in Gfw live events this weekend to work an angle with Jarrett. Other Tna stars are likely to be there as well.
What’s weird about the Gfw taping aspect is that they have no television deal announced in any country. Perhaps they will have something to announce soon,...

Global Force Wrestling
Global Force Wrestling, the new promotion that is being launched by Jeff Jarrett, is looking for a TV channel to broadcast their shows.
According to reports in the latest Wrestling Observer, the company has had discussions with a number of television networks including Spike, Wgn, Fox Sports 2 and Cmt. Of those four, Spike would be the best option because they have had WWE, Tna and Ecw shows on their network over the past two decades. Apparently they aren’t actively seeking a wrestling show right now, but if they are then Gfw will do their best to land with them.
Gfw’s plan for now is to tape between 12-14 one hour TV shows during three taping dates in Las Vegas with the first one taking place in July, the second in August and the third one in October. Prior to that, they are doing some live...

Santino Marella & Tamina Smuka. Eve Torres & Chris Masters. Charlie Haas & Maria Kanellis. Mickie James & The Great Khali. Mark Henry & Mae Young. Randy Orton & Stephanie McMahon and Kaitlyn & Hornswoggle.
These are but a simple seven of the enormous plethora of pairs whom have locked lips for a ratings pop in their WWE careers. Sometimes for romance, sometimes for comedy, occasionally out of a genuine real-life affection, the kiss has become a recurring image in the pro-wrestling universe, so much so it’s become a bit clichéd.
There have been some absolutely awkward and pointless kisses over the years in WWE, some of which you’ll find in the opening paragraph. However, on occasion, WWE has paired two performers together on-screen with a genuine chemistry. Whether as a one-shot deal or a recurring relationship, they’ve produced a selection of kisses that were genuinely hot, leading to folks in the arena...

A lot of people have been talking about Benjamin Morris’ 538 piece, “Are Pro Wrestlers Dying at an Unusual Rate?”
Like Morris, I am neither an actuarial scientist nor a demographer. So, our interpretations of the data should be taken with a grain of salt. My results were somewhat different from Morris’ due to a difference data set and changes in how we calculated actuarial predictions.
Differences in methodology from Morris
I also used Social Security Actuarial Life Tables, but my “expected mortality rates” for the age groups were not the same as Morris’. For each wrestler, I calculated what their age would have been as of today. Then, based on gender, I looked up the number of lives (out of 100,000) that were expected to still be alive and converted that to a percentage. His analysis looked at wrestlers who were on 20+ WWF PPVs through 2002. I went with a...

It’s been a pretty terrible couple of weeks for WWE, but something good is on the way, and I’m not talking about Wrestlemania. I’m talking about the Elimination Chamber Pay Per View, one of the more underrated Pay Per Views of the entire WWE schedule.
Sandwiched between the two biggest shows of the year (Mania and the Royal Rumble), the Chamber doesn’t seem to get a lot of love. But at the time of year when WWE’s booking is at its strongest, we get great matches featuring (usually) six of the top superstars on each brand. So rather than dwell on the negative, I’m going to channel my inner optimist and make myself feel better by counting down the 10 best Elimination Chamber matches of all time.
There have been 16 total Chamber matches since the first one back in 2002, so...

A former WWE wrestler was a real life hero Tuesday, when he saved his mother from a burning house. TMZ reports Chris Mordetzky, who wrestled as "The Masterpiece" Chris Masters, received a call from an uncle, who claimed a neighbor had barricaded himself inside the mother's home.
Chris rushed to the scene, and when he arrived, he says the man shouted through the door that if anyone tried to get into the house, he would set fire to it. Mordetzky called the police, but when they arrived the man lit the fire.
At that point, Chris jumped into action. He pulled a tree out of the ground, and threw it through a window. He then reached inside the burning home, pulling his mom out. Police then rushed in, arresting the neighbor on charges of arson. The man is reportedly still in custody. Mordetzky last wrestled for WWE in 2011.

WWE.com has announced that “The Viper” Randy Orton has been suspended for 60 days following his second violation of the WWE Talent Wellness policy. The suspension was effective as of Wednesday and he will now miss the next two months of WWE touring, which includes June’s WWE No Way Out pay-per-view and July’s WWE Money in the Bank pay-per-view.
The official WWE website didn’t go into much detail and mentioned his suspension with the following;
Stamford, Conn. – In accordance with its Talent Wellness Program, WWE has suspended Randy Orton for 60 days effective today for his second violation of the company’s policy.
Failing the WWE Talent Wellness policy basically means he was taking a substance he shouldn’t have been, similarly the reason why Rey Mysterio is also currently suspended. WWE superstars are suspended 30 days for their first violation, 60 days for their second and usually the third suspension means they are fired.

This week, we had to get the fallout from Bobby Roode threatening the health of Dixie Carter after beating Sting at Victory Road. If only she’d used the ample time she had to get out of the ring to her advantage. And so Dixie joined us to open the show. Dixie made out like she was going to fire the champ, but Sting came out and claimed firing him was letting him off easy. Sting then said that his position as leader was just not working. So he said hes coming back as a wrestler to fight for Dixie and step down as General Manager. He did however promise that he had someone to take the company right to the top. Sting asked Dixie to let him give him the power to the Real Hulk Hogan. Dixie did her best to act conflicted. Later on in the show, in the main event slot,...

The annual fan-made video celebrating the class of 2011 Future Endeavoured (i.e. those in the WWE who have left the company in the past year) has been released on Youtube. This year’s list includes 16 wrestlers and personalities who were let go this past year and including the huge surprises of David Hart Smith and Chris Masters being let go when many felt like they could have been SuperStars for years. Finlay, Chavo Guerrero and John Morrison obviously will also be missed having been great servants for the company over the past decade.

Despite being killed off as a series when Chairman Vince McMahon announced that WWE would drop the Survivor Series name and rebrand the event in last February, November saw the explosive return of the PPV spectacular, and that show is now available to buy on DVD and Blu-ray.
With a card boasting the collected talents of Kane, Randy Orton, Edge, Rey Mysterio, Big Show and Alberto Del Rio, the star quality is certainly there, but the question is: how does an event cope with being so cruelly undermined by the man pulling the power strings?
This year’s event was undoubtedly headlined, both in billing and in intrigue by the face-off between Randy Orton and former Nexus leader, and one of few resident Brits on the WWE rosta, Wade Barrett, with the added interest of the outcome supposedly deciding John Cena’s fate as a WWE employee.

Last night, Ozzy Osbourne took some time off from jamming with Metallica and headed to Worcester, Massachusetts to invade WWE's "Raw," the sports entertainment company's long-running weekly live show. Osbourne was accompanied by wife and manager Sharon, and he presided over the two hours with an iron fist, making matches, cutting promos and referring constantly to "Crazy Train." He also made copious plugs for his upcoming book "I Am Ozzy," his forthcoming autobiography that hits stores in January. (Sample text: "I survived a direct hit by a plane, suicidal overdoses, STDs. I've been accused of attempted murder. Then I almost died while riding over a bump on a quad bike at f---ing two miles per hour." The rest of it must be awesome.)
