There’s a new TV network in town. DrinkTV was announced today! It’s time to polish your Roku or Apple TV box as the star of the long wrapped Travel Channel series Three Sheets, one of our favorite destination and drinking culture shows starring Zane Lamprey, can celebrate his return to the small screen. A new streaming service network is debuting, DrinkTV, dedicated to celebrating drinking culture and doing for the imbibing world of alcohol what various food-centric shows did for cuisine. Fans loved Lamprey’s five year run on Three Sheets, which covered the drinking culture of various countries, and now […]

Netflix has been spending money on streaming-video content like, well, a drunken sailor. Now comes a subscription VOD product from a Scottish beer-brewing company that’s geared around a tippling lifestyle — with a show lineup that includes such fare as “Are You Smarter Than a Drunk Person?” and “Four Sheets.”
Indie brewery BrewDog is launching the BrewDog Network, with several hundred hours of programming spanning craft beer, cocktails, food, travel, comedy, game shows, and documentaries. The Svod service, priced at $4.99 monthly, features 14 original series at launch, including “The BrewDog Show,” a reboot of the TV series that previously aired on NBCUniversal’s Esquire Network (which shut down in early 2017).
The Svod service is available worldwide on Android and iOS devices and online at brewdognetwork.com. The five-bucks-per-month fee, the company noted, is less than the price of a pint of its beer.

The television space is more crowded than ever, and we may have our most surprising addition to the ever-expanding landscape: A brewery.
Yes, you read that correctly. Scotland-based craft brewery BrewDog, is launching its own streaming network, The BrewDog Network, that’ll cost $4.99 a month, or less than a pint of beer.
The network will be lead by James Watt and Martin Dickie, the brewery’s co-founders. Chris Burke and Jared Cotton, founders of Emmy-winning production company Redtail Media, will serve as general manager and head of creative. Redtail Media produced the duo’s “BrewDogs” TV series that aired on the now-defunct Esquire Network for three seasons between 2013 and 2015.

The U.S. is awash in subscription streaming networks, with more than 200 of them now jockeying for viewers. But the BrewDog Network, a $5-a-month service launching today, introduces a bit of a new wrinkle.
The network will deliver a lineup of cocktail, craft beer, culinary and travel shows — not from a traditional TV programmer’s perspective, but from that of a seasoned brand marketer. BrewDog is a craft beer maker with U.S. headquarters in Columbus, Ohio, and since starting out in 2007 has secured distribution in 60 worldwide markets.
BrewDog co-founders James Watt and Martin Dickie got a taste of TV by hosting their own show, Brew Dogs on the Esquire Network. After NBCUniversal pulled the plug on the short-lived venture, the pair decided to forge ahead with a 24/7 network conveying the spirit of that show, which had developed an avid following.

National Geographic Channel has renewed its reality series “Life Below Zero” for a second season, and given the green light to the new competition series “Showdown of the Unbeatables.” “Showdown of the Unbeatables” will pit inventors and entrepreneurs against each other in a battle royale in which their inventions face off in a death match — for instance, the world’s strongest bombproof door against the world’s most powerful military cutting torch. Brian Unger (“It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia”) and Zane Lamprey (“Have Fork, Will Travel”) align themselves with opposing companies as they put their products to the test.

Deceptively marketed as a breezy romantic comedy, Drinking Buddies would be more aptly described as a movie about the complexities and compromises of relationships, the little things that are instrumental in making partnerships work. Credit writer-director Joe Swanberg for giving his strong cast the freedom to explore the weighty ideas his film’s simple set-up brings bubbling to the surface, like infidelity, loneliness and immaturity.
As Drinking Buddies opens, we think we know where it’s headed. The flighty, frivolous Kate (Olivia Wilde) works in a Chicago brewery with Luke (Jake Johnson), her emotional equal in every way. They get through the daily grind by immaturely drinking, flirting and reveling in the potent will-they-won’t-they chemistry that they’ve constructed almost effortlessly. The only problem: both are already in relationships. Luke is on the verge of marrying Jill (Anna Kendrick), his attentive and gracious girlfriend of six years, while Kate...

Unless you’re among that collection of people convinced their vote in American Idol actually makes a difference, the sad truth of television is that there’s a definite limit to how interactive a medium it truly is. For most of us, if we truly want to feel like we’re participating in a show or a movie, we have to play a drinking game, at which point the attention we pay to minutiae in whatever we’re watching spikes drastically (and then plummets again a few rounds later). In which case, maybe it’s perfect that Zane Lamprey came along and created Drinking Made Easy, a TV show dedicated to the appreciation of drinking that turns it into both an art and a basis for three guys goofing around and sampling the creative things people in the United States have done to liquor. It’s a drinking game, game show,...

The biggest thing happening on TV today is the rescue of the Chilean miners who have been trapped underground since August 5th. It's been going on since late last night and will probably take hours more, since they seem to be getting out one miner per hour. As of the time I'm writing this, they've just gotten the 13th miner out so there's about 20 to go, plus the rescue workers they sent down to check on the remaining miners. The worst part of the whole thing so far, for me, is the American coverage. Last night one of the American reporters on the scene compared the situation to an American football game, and there have been multiple comparisons to the moon landing. Because nothing can be something awesome and inspiring on it's own, we have to find some sort of comparison because otherwise viewers won't understand the sheer magnitude of...

If you love beer and you've never had the pleasure of experiencing Munich's Oktoberfest, you might want to get yourself a plane ticket come September (yes, September). Seriously, one of the most fun experiences in my life, running around with the Polizei from tent to tent as fights broke out and were over by the time we got there.
I've never seen "Three Sheets", which is a travelogue (hosted by Zane Lamprey) that previously aired on the Fine Living Network. Apparently Lamprey goes to different countries to sample food and drink and to participate in local alcohol related customs. Now this is my kind of show! It seems a bunch of rabid fans rallied a Facebook campaign and a beer shipment to get the Travel Channel to pick up the show. And what do you know -- success! Episodes began airing June 30th and if the show does well, there may be further seasons.

Thanks largely to fans on Facebook and other social media sites and a highly targeted shipment of beer, "Three Sheets" will be making its permanent bed on the Travel Channel.
The travelogue about the worldwide culture of beer had a trial run from April to May on the network. After receiving letters (and some frothy brew) from die-hard fans, Travel has acquired all the back episodes of the show from the Fine Living cabler and will resume airing episodes.
Hosted by comedian Zane Lamprey, two episodes of the show will follow "Bert the Conqueror" and "Man V. Food" on Wednesdays and air in a one-hour block that begins at 11 p.m.
Fine Living recently morphed into the Cooking Channel, so "Three Sheets" was homeless until the Travel Channel bellied up to the bar.

Hey, remember when the Food Network first came out and it had a bunch of cooking shows from people like the Two Fat Ladies and introduced us all to an amazing little Japanese show called Iron Chef? Ah, good times.
Clearly, Food Network thinks so, as its owners, Scripps Networks Interactive, launched a sister network called Cooking Channel yesterday, which features shows such as ... Iron Chef and Two Fat Ladies.
There are new shows as well, like the Mo Rocca-hosted Food(ography) and Indian Food Made Easy. In what must be a sign of our poor economy, Cooking Channel replaces Fine Living Network, as we all have to make our own food these days instead going out to expensive restaurants to eat and doing other things associated with "fine living."
Unfortunately, this also means that shows like Whatever, Martha!, in which Martha Stewart's daughter Alexis made fun of her mother's old shows,...

Courtesy of Bobby Quillard Photography. Zane Lamprey drinks for a living. Actually, no, that doesn't really do his job justice. Zane Lamprey gets paid to get silly drunk in foreign cities for our amusement. Since 2006, he's hosted a TV show called Three Sheets (first on Mojo and recently on the Fine Living Network), where he travels the globe and explores the local drinking customs everywhere from Belize to Taipei to the Philippines. Earlier this week, he published his first book, also called Three Sheets, which more or less covers the same ground. Because his name is so synonymous with alcohol, and because I'll jump at any opportunity to make Vanity Fair pay for my booze, I interviewed Lamprey as we were both enjoying the very adult cocktails responsible for his semi-fame. It's what we in the journalism trade refer to as "thematic context." Or, as it's sometimes also called, an "unnecessary research invoice.

Three Sheets is a show that follows Zane Lamprey, a happy go lucky seeming guy, around the world. Zane does what many shows do. He goes and tries the local food and meets the local people and learns the local customs. But don't let that fool you—this is not your usual show. Zane Lamprey is all but a licensed alcoholic, and this show is all about booze. Sure, the people are interesting, and sure the customs are fun, but booze is booze, and this show doesn't attempt to appeal to anyone but its most basic audience: drinkers.
Whether Zane Lamprey is hanging out in Taipei drinking a variety of snake parts (blood, bile, and poison...right, and soaked testicles) or merely binging his way through the country of Belgium, several things can always be guaranteed with Three Sheets:
1. Zane Lamprey will eat local food and start drinking.
2. Zane Lamprey will drink some more.

Zane Lamprey, comedian and host of travel-on-tap series "Three Sheets," has already taken his international drinking tour to over 50 countries, including fire-cupping in Hong Kong and downing something dubbed the "Gringo Killer" in Costa Rica. Now "Three Sheets" is entering its fourth season and has a new home on Fln, and the man with arguably the best job in the world is hitting all new locales like Capetown, Iceland, Tahiti, New Castle, and Lithuania.
But Lamprey's international bar-hopping could have been over after the show's former home, MojoHD, was no more. The show, an around-the-world drinking game, scared off some networks with its intoxicating premise. "I think the networks were taking the show at face value and were saying 'This is a show about a guy who goes around the world and drinks.' But I don't think they took into consideration the following the show had built-in," Lamprey said.
