R&B singer Marques Houston plays a drink-driving businessman who's brought down to earth when he is handed a community service sentence with a gang of street-smart kids. He's got the job of mentoring the the mouthy misfits, who regard him with ghetto-forged disdain. However, with the help of ace choreographer Russell Ferguson (and the approving eye of foxy community centre boss Mekia Cox), he gets the kids on their feet and into the dance finals.

Meredith Hoffa: Sytycd's season six results are in and I couldn't be more bonkers-thrilled. I cannot believe there is not some sort of parade I can partake in.
The final three contenders -- Russell, Jakob, and Kathryn -- all had the chops to be worthy of the title of America's Favorite Dancer (lamest title ever), but from the beginning of this season, it was Russell who really gave me major jazz hands. Is there anyone who doesn't love an underdog story? Here's a truly dear-seeming guy with little technical training who was the first krump dancer to ever make the top 20. So it was mind-blowing when he was able to pick up every style that was thrown at him, week in and week out, from pasodoble to lyrical jazz to Bollywood to samba. Plus, his ginormous smile has become one of my favorite sights ever; the guy has joy literally...

For more on what the season favorite thinks about officially becoming America's Favorite Dancer, the finale-night issues, and plans for the future, click on the jump. Like anyone else even had a chance. Charm, talent, poise — Russell Ferguson had it all. That’s likely why the krumper bagged the $250,000 prize and title of America’s favorite dancer last night. Though we saw his victory coming a mile away, did Russell expect to win? Not long after his win, Russell talked to EW about his victory, his last-minute injury, and where we can expect to see him next. (The Oscars!) Congratulations,...

Don't you worry your pretty little heads, So You Think You Can Dancers—season six champ Russell Ferguson will live to krump another day! Amid injury and so-called dance style limitations, a humbled Russell had this to say: "Everything is so perfect right now, I couldn't ask for anything more." Mere minutes before we chatted with the winner backstage, Russell took a tumble during the live broadcast, and was sidelined for the remainder of the finale. "I went to jump back up on stage during my three-man piece and I came down on my leg wrong. It got really numb and swollen and felt like something had gotten sprained," the Bean Town boogier told us. Even worse than the pain was the...

After replacing Billy Bell and spending a day and a half in the top 20, Brandon Dumlao was eliminated (instead of Russell Ferguson) by the judges in a pretty obvious but still mean decision. Also out: Ariana Debose (over Pauline Mata) because of her lack of charisma. Nigel Lythgoe said the judges eliminated the first two based on everything they've seen this season, not just the one dance that Brandon had just a day and...

Contemporary dancer Debose, 18, and hip hop dancer Dumlao, 21, were eliminated after landing in the bottom four alongside Russell Ferguson and Pauline Mata. Dumlao had only been recruited the previous day as a last-minute replacement for Billy Bell, (more)...

It was a dancer’s dream and a choreographer’s delight when So You Think You Can Dance decided to try something a little different for their first fall episode after auditions. Rather than jump right into competition, the judges, the audience and the choreographers had a chance to meet the top 20 and see them dance in their own styles without worry of elimination. Judges Nigel, Mary and Adam Shankman (now a permanent fixture) were on hand more to encourage than to critique on the new set, now on the famed American Idol stage. (There was even a designated spot for Paula Abdul if she decides to drop by!) The first of seven routines showcasing the top 20 in their respective styles started with a Wade and Amanda Robson creation set in a speakeasy world with rival gangs battle-dancing in a vivid costume extravaganza. Tabitha and Napoleon Dumo then got the...

After six Us cities, thousands of auditions and one grueling Vegas week, it was finally time for So You Think You Can Dance to reveal the top 20 of its first fall season. And what a talented bunch, boasting three tappers, three hip-hoppers and a gaggle of young and talented contemporary dancers. When Wednesday's episode began, 38 contestants waited in agony backstage as Nigel and Mary, who were joined by Adam Shankman, Debbie Allen, Tyce Diorio and Mia Michaels -- in her last appearance before leaving the show -- revealed their decisions. First up was contemporary dancer Nathan Trasoras, 18, from Downey, Calif., who was too young for season 5 but got a ticket to Vegas for season 6. A smiling Mia Michaels (with a newly shaved head) gave him the good news that Sytycd would like to be "a part of his growth." Next, the judges dished out bad news, including some shocking eliminations,...

Last night we learned the Top 20 of season 6. Today we get to learn a little more about each of them. During their first official So You Think You Can Dance photo shoot, the Top 20 was coupled up and sat down for an interview. These are not necessarily (or most often) the pairs they'll be dancing with, but it does offer insight into their personalities and that elusive star quality that Nigel is looking for.
Last, but certainly not least is Russell Ferguson and Noelle Marsh. Russell continues to cement his pre-season favorite status during the interview, while Noelle does her best not to be out shone by season 6's obvious star.

"So You Think You Can Dance" has found its sixth season's Top 20. The Las Vegas weeks are over, judges including Mia Michaels who will soon quit the show to pursue other projects, were doing lots of rejections and happy announcements to the 32 dancers who made it to the Las Vegas callback.
The Top 10 girls consist of six dancers moving in the contemporary genre. They are Ariana Debose, Channing Cooke, Pauline Mata, Katherine McCormick, Noelle Marsh and Ellenore Scott who are all 18 years old except for Scott who is 19. "Actually, I came in last season as a contemporary dancer, which was a bad idea because I didn't train in contemporary for a long time," Mata confessed.
The other four are ranging from a ballroom dancer (Ashleigh Dilello), a jazz dancer (Mollee Gray), an American-rhythm dancer (Karen Hauer), and a tap dancer (Bianca Revels). Ashleigh is married to another contestant, Ryan Dilello,...

Vegas week finally arrived Wednesday on So You Think You Can Dance -- and based on the first round of competition, it's going to be one heck of a ride! A total of 152 dancers, who were given very little time to master relentless routines, faced judges Mary Murphy, Nigel Lythgoe, Tyce Diorio, Mia Michaels, Debbie Allen and Adam Shankman. By show's end, only 77 were left standing. First up was contemporary wonder Nathan Trasora, who took a rain check last season after an amazing audition, but he was just 17. One to watch, Nathan had no problem moving forward, as did other familiar faces like hip-hop dancer Justin Kenney (New Orleans) and rising ballroom star Iveta Lukosiute (Salt Lake City), who showed real showmanship by helping to coach krumper Russell Ferguson (Boston) in a ballroom routine that left Shankman in awe, calling their performance, "the most unexpected thing I had ever seen!

For Wednesday's So You Think You Can Dance, Emmy-winning choreographer Tyce Diorio joined Nigel Lythgoe and Mary Murphy on the judges' panel as hopefuls in Boston wowed them, showing exactly what Beantown could do. How do you like them apples? Teddy was his name and "whimsical" was his game. Don’t judge this book by its cover. The kid in the golf pants and a bowtie performed a panel-pleasing contemporary piece and won a first class seat on Air Vegas. With no formal training, Jean "the dream" Lloret, 22, pulled off breaking moves that simply defied gravity, including a 360-degree, torso-gyration move that left the judges gasping for air. Quick, stylish and amazing! When it was all over, there were no words -- just a standing ovation and a ticket to Vegas. Russell Ferguson, who was ready to be the first krumper to make it to Vegas, banged his way through...
