Callie Haverda, the Austin-hailing 15-year-old ushering in a “new wave of kids” in Netflix’s “That ‘70s Show” spinoff, had previously turned down auditions for series filmed in front of live audiences. So one can imagine her surprise when she noticed the viewer bleachers after she had booked the lead role of Leia Forman, her first major starring part.
“I was always so terrified of [live audiences] for no reason because it was something that I’d never done. I was unsure of how it would end up being, and I didn’t know that ’90s’ was going to be filmed in front of a live studio audience. So I was getting a tour of the set and the producer Steve Sandoval was like, ‘And those are the bleachers, that’s where the live audience is going to be.’ And I was like, ‘Awesome!‘” Haverda told TheWrap, feigning excitement.
But the starlet,...

All throughout the convention this year, lines were an issue. I mention this at the top because I missed the first two panels I’d intended to cover on Saturday, Warehouse 13 and Once Upon a Time, due to lengthy lines. It’s hard to get an accurate image of the lines without a helicopter, but here’s a tiny, tiny idea of what it’s like. The wonderful upside to this is that you’re usually neighbored on at least one side by very cool, interesting people who you’d otherwise never meet. Many people opt out of the largest halls/panels, and by extension longest lines, but if you want to see the most popular projects or celebrities, you’re gonna have to park it for at least a couple hours. This year, Twilight, Firefly, and Iron Man 3/The Hobbit were responsible for the longest waits. It...

Title: "Attack of the Killer App"
Writer / Director: Patric M. Verrone / Stephen Sandoval
Story: After an enjoyable two-episode airing to kick off the long-awaited sixth season, "Futurama" was back last night with a strangely prophetic episode commenting on the rise of social networking. Dear, old Mom is still up to her megalomaniacal plottings. This time, she's concocted a grand scheme to control consumers with a fancy new gadget: the EyePhone. Facebook, YouTube, Twitter... they're all present, accounted for and poked fun at as a story involving a "who can get the most followers" contest between Fry and Bender emerges. There are long lines, many minutes of indecipherable "l33tspeak" and a pool filled with two-headed goat vomit/diarrhea.
Take That, Apple!
The timing of this airing couldn't have been planned given the production schedule for "Futurama" episodes, but with the iPhone 4 craze in full effect and some of Apple's luster...
