Tim Matheson has been tapped to direct and Diana-Maria Riva to co-star in "Jack and Dan," Matt Nix's new 13-episode hourlong series for Fox toplined by Colin Hanks and Bradley Whitford.
The project, from Fox TV Studios, centers on Jack (Hanks), an ambitious, by-the-book detective whose habit of undermining himself has resulted in a dead-end position at the Los Angeles Police Department. He's partnered with Dan (Whitford), a drunken, lecherous cop who hangs onto his job only because of a heroic act years before.
Riva will play Jack and Dan's boss, lead detective Lt. Katherine Anderson, who once was partnered with Dan.
Matheson will direct the series' first episode, marking the actor-helmer's second pilot directing gig this year. He also helmed USA Network's "Covert Affairs."
Matheson, who has directed episodes of FtvS' "Burn Notice" for USA and the upcoming "Persons Unknown" for NBC, is repped by CAA, Generate and attorney Bill Jacobson.
