TNT is playing the long game with its NHL studio team, inking multiyear contract extensions for Wayne Gretzky, Paul Bissonnette, Anson Carter and Henrik Lundqvist weeks before the 2023-24 season faces off.
The Warner Bros Discovery-owned network also said today that veteran broadcaster and 13-year NHL goalie Brian Boucher is joining as an ice-level analyst, working alongside A-team announcers Kenny Albert and Eddie Olczyk.
All-time NHL points leader Gretzky and ex-NHLers Bissonnette and Carter have been with the NHL on TNT since it began in 2021, and newly minted Hockey Hall of Fame goalie Lundquist joined last year. They all will be teamed again with studio host Liam McHugh.

Former NBC Sports host Liam McHugh will join Turner Sports as the WarnerMedia outlet prepares for its first season of NHL telecasts under a new rights deal, joining hockey great Wayne Gretzky, and a new team of analysts and sportscasters devoted to coverage of the sport.
McHugh joins Turner Sports from NBC Sports, where he led hockey coverage as well as the pre-game NFL program, “Football Night in America.” He is one of several new sportscasters to join, including Anson Carter, a former NBC Sports studio analyst; Rick Tocchet, the veteran NHL player and coach; and Paul Bissonnette, the former hockey player who still contributes to radio coverage of the Arizona Coyotes. Turner had previously announced a deal with Gretzky to be part of a new studio show, as well as Kenny Albert and Eddie Olczyk, who will provide game commentary.
Brendan Burke will provide play-by-play throughout the season alongside analyst Darren Pang.

Four-time Emmy winner and Oscar nominee Alfre Woodard is the latest to join the cast of Blair Underwood’s upcoming psychological thriller “Viral.”
Production on the project — directed, produced by and starring Underwood — is currently underway in New York, after filming was delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The casting news also marks a reunion for Woodward and Underwood, who previously teamed up for the Netflix drama “Juanita,” Showtime’s “The Wishing Tree” and the stage show “Love Letters.” The pair of entertainers have had an equally long history offscreen. In 1989, Woodard and Underwood co-founded Artists for a New South Africa (Ansa), an organization to support the mission to end apartheid, alongside fellow actors like Danny Glover, Mary Steenburgen and Cch Pounder.
Woodard is set to play Dr. Johnetta, a psychiatrist specializing in deep trauma, in the thriller, which follows Underwood’s character Andrew as he falls into paranoia after his wife Jules goes missing.
