CBS has picked up a fourth season of series Bull, starring Michael Weatherly.
The procedural drama, which has been a solid ratings performer for CBS, was never in doubt for renewal though the show became a center of controversy earlier this season over sexual harassment allegations against Weatherly by Eliza Dushku, which resulted in a $9.5 settlement with the actress.
Glenn Gordon Caron, who served as showrunner this season, is in talks to return.
Created by Dr. Phil McGraw and Paul Attanasio, Bull stars Weatherly as Dr. Jason Bull in a drama inspired by the early career of Dr. Phil McGraw, the founder of one of the most prolific trial-consulting firms of all time. Brilliant, brash and charming, Dr. Bull is the ultimate puppet master as he combines psychology, human intuition and high-tech data to learn what makes jurors, attorneys, witnesses and the accused tick.

The showrunner of Fox’s intense vampire drama has a philosophy when it comes to staffing her shows: “I love hiring moms.”
Liz Heldens, who took on the reigns of adapting the popular bloodsucker novel “The Passage” as a series, is a mother herself, and what she believes is that “nobody gets it done like who needs to get home for bedtime. I’m serious. I really feel like women with kids are the most efficient workers.”
It’s a philosophy that other showrunners might not share, but Heldens goes out of her way to subvert that concept. “We have a writer on [‘The Passage’] who has four kids who didn’t want to tell me, and I didn’t know in the meeting. And then she told me on the first day, and I was like, ‘I woulda hired you so much faster,'” she told IndieWire. “You can...

CBS is ready to jumpstart its fall season with a paper clip, rubber band, and lighter.
The network has ordered six new shows, including a reboot of the 1980s action series "MacGyver" and an adaptation of the movie "Training Day." The new shows also include comedies with big names as headliners: Matt LeBlanc and Joel McHale.
CBS has a lot of holes to fill in its schedule this fall. "The Good Wife" ended, "CSI: Cyber" was canceled (leaving the network without a "CSI" series for the first time in 16 years), and "Supergirl" is moving to The CW.
Here's a rundown of all the new CBS shows:

Cast: Michael Weatherly as 'Dr. Jason Bull', Freddy Rodriguez, Geneva Carr, Chris Jackson, Jaime Lee Kirchner, Annabelle Attanasio

On the comedy side, CBS has Ok’d Joel McHale’s workplace sitcom The Great Indoors and Matt LeBlanc’s family satire Man With a Plan (fka I’m Not Your Friend). Speaking of the latter, The Office‘s Jenna Fischer — who was set to play LeBlanc’s wife — has exited the project for creative reasons.

A couple days ago we reported that The Tomorrow People‘s Robbie Amell had found a new home on the CW’s high anticipated fall series, The Flash, and now another former Tomorrow People star has also moved on – even if fans have not. Luke Mitchell, who played John Young on the short-lived CW supernatural drama, has just been cast in ABC’s mid-season drama series, Members Only.
The new show, formerly titled The Club, will center around a private country club. Mitchell will play Jesse, a character from the wrong side of the tracks who was recently employed at the club and although he’ll appears to be a little rough around the edges, he actually has his life together.
Along with Mitchell, Members Only stars Betsy Brandt (Breaking Bad), Boris Kodjoe (Undercovers), Callie Hernandez (From Dusk Till Dawn), Chris Conroy, and newly cast Jaime Lee Kirchner (Mercy). Kirchner...

Fox TV show The Mob Doctor has a nice twist on the usual medical drama.
Dr. Grace Devlin (Jordana Spiro, TV’s Harry’s Law) is an up-and-coming surgeon at one of Chicago’s most prominent hospitals. But certain family history also has her indebted to the South Chicago mafia, leaving her forced to work for the Mob boss too.
Cleaning up bullet wounds in back rooms was probably not what she had in mind when she went through medical school.
The drama television series also stars Floriana Lima (The Alyson Stoner Project), Jaime Lee Kirchner (TV’s Mercy), William Forsythe (TV’s Boardwalk Empire) and Zeljko Ivanek (Seven Psychopaths).
