In his review of the new horror film Immaculate (you can read it Here), JoBlo’s own Chris Bumbray said the movie – which reunites Sydney Sweeney with Michael Mohan, who directed her in the erotic thriller The Voyeurs and the Netflix series Everything Sucks! – is “a decent throwback to Dario Argento-style Italian horror movies.” During a recent post-screening Q&a at Alamo Drafthouse Cinema Boston Seaport, Mohan also revealed that one particular scene in the movie was inspired by the work one of my favorite grindhouse era filmmakers, Jack Hill – and that same scene also had to be salvaged with the help of Saw X director Kevin Greutert!
Our friends at Bloody Disgusting shared the information from the Q&A, reporting that Mohan said, “The biggest scene that did not work and I’m still not happy with is the scene when Isabelle tries to drown Cecilia. I studied a...

Ryan Coogler has a date to return to movie theaters. Warner Bros. has set a March 7, 2025 release for the project, which will star Michael B. Jordan and arrive in Imax.
The film is untitled, but true to Coogler form, it is described as an event film. Coogler is producing via Proximity Media with Zinzi Coogler and Sev Ohanian. Last month, the Motion Picture Association ratings board announced that they had given the psychological horror film Immaculate, which reunites Sydney Sweeney with Michael Mohan, who directed her in the erotic thriller The Voyeurs and the Netflix series Everything Sucks!, an R rating for strong and bloody violent content, grisly images, nudity and some language. Fresh off her recent stint hosting “Saturday Night Live,” Sydney Sweeney made her way to Austin and SXSW for the world premiere of her new religious horror film “Immaculate” — and on Tuesday night, she had the crowd screaming (and laughing at their own reactions) at the Paramount Theatre.
The jump scares, in particular, had the entire theater jumping — and then giggling at their own fear. “Immaculate” leans into horror but also has plenty of moments of dark humor.
“I think that you really truly care about the characters and story,” Sweeney said during the on-stage conversation after the screening. “Yes, we wanted you guys all to jump in your seats and be hopefully horrified shitless. But you still care about the story.”
Neon is behind “Immaculate,” while Sweeney also produced the movie with Black Bear and Middle Child Pictures. The film is set to be released on March 22.

The Motion Picture Association ratings board gave Zack Snyder’s sci-fi war film Rebel Moon Part Two: The Scargiver and the Blumhouse horror production Imaginary PG-13 ratings this week, but they also sat through a movie that gave them some rougher material to sit through: the psychological horror film Immaculate, which reunites Sydney Sweeney – whose credits include Euphoria, the recent romantic comedy release Anyone but You, and the upcoming Sony Marvel movie Madame Web – with Michael Mohan, who directed her in the erotic thriller The Voyeurs. Immaculate is set to reach theatres on March 22nd, and it now sports an R rating for strong and bloody violent content, grisly images, nudity and some language.

Sydney Sweeney is starring as a twisted Virgin Mary in horror film “Immaculate.”
The “Euphoria” actress leads the Michael Mohan-directed feature, re-teaming with her “The Voyeurs” director. The official synopsis reads: “Cecilia (Sweeney), an American nun of devout faith, embarks on a new journey in a remote convent in the picturesque Italian countryside. Her warm welcome quickly devolves into a nightmare as it becomes clear her new home harbors a sinister secret and unspeakable horrors.”
The trailer shows Cecilia realizing she is pregnant despite her nunhood while fearing the sinsiter potential of the baby growing inside her.
Andrew Lobel penned the script for the Neon film, while Sweeney produces with Jonathan Davino under her Fifty-Fifty Films production banner.
“Immaculate” marks many reunions with Sweeney’s past collaborators: Sweeney and director Mohan first worked together on the Netflix high school comedy series “Everything Sucks!,” while producer David Bernad was behind “The White Lotus.

Lukas Gage and Zachary Quinto are keeping their clandestine meeting on the down low.
“The White Lotus” and “You” star Gage co-wrote queer sex comedy “Down Low” with Phoebe Fisher. Gage stars as a sex worker who is hired by a depressed (and repressed) divorcé to kickstart his new love life. Simon Rex, Audra McDonald, and Judith Light also star.

A year and a half ago, we heard that M. Night Shyamalan was producing the thriller The Vanishings at Caddo Lake, which was being directed by the duo of Celine Held and Logan George – who made their feature directorial debut with the 2020 drama Topside and went on to direct episodes of Shyamalan’s Apple TV+ series Servant. That movie, which now has the shorter title Caddo Lake, still doesn’t have a release date… but it does have a rating. The Motion Picture Association’s ratings board has given Caddo Lake a PG-13 for some disturbing/bloody images, thematic elements, and brief strong language.
Shyamalan has only made two R-rated movies (The Happening and Knock at the Cabin), so it’s not surprising to hear that this Shyamalan-produced project has earned a PG-13.
Held and George wrote the screenplay for the film, crafting the following story: When an 8-year-old girl mysteriously vanishes on Caddo Lake,...

Despite strong work from Sarah Polley for Women Talking and Gina Prince-Bythewood for...
