Close behind with two nominations apiece in the feature categories are Oppenheimer (color grading and editing), Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio (sound and visual effects), Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (color grading and editing), Tár (color grading and editing) and Avatar: The Way of Water, for which teams at Weta FX and Industrial Light & Magic were both nominated in the VFX category.

“Barry” will compete for the fourth and final time at the 2023 Emmys with its last season. The HBO tragicomedy has had a successful awards showing throughout its entire run, with star and co-showrunner Bill Hader nabbing two Emmys for acting (2018 and ’19) and Henry Winkler finally claiming his first Primetime trophy (2018). Even though Season 4 nabbed “Barry’s” lowest nomination tally at the Emmys, it still sustained double digits with 11 bids, including Best Comedy Series, as part of HBO’s total of the most noms for a network at 123. Read on for a closer look at Barry’s 11 Emmy nominations for Season 4.
In the comedy series race, “Barry” is the only HBO program competing. With 11 nominations, it is tied with Hulu’s “Only Murders in the Building,” and is surpassed in sequence by Netflix’s “Wednesday” at 12, FX’s “The Bear” at 13, Amazon Prime Video’s “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” at 14 and...

“It’s nice to work on a comedy that’s a really good comedy,” admits “Mythic Quest” sound editor Matthew E. Taylor in our recent webchat. He continues, “That’s what’s funny about the show. You work on an episode, for us it’s about a week and a half, and it never gets old. All the jokes are great.” Watch the exclusive video interview above.
Taylor won an Emmy for his sound work on “Barry” in 2019. He’s now working on “Mythic Quest,” an Apple TV+ comedy about the team developing a multiplayer videogame of the same name. The show portrays inter-office rivalries and the second seasons sees Poppy (Charlotte Nicado) adjust to leading the team alongside Ian (series co-creator Rob McElhenney).
SEEMike Berlucchi interview: ‘Mythic Quest’ cinematographer
Taylor says, “We carved out the sound of the office. It’s about finding the right moments where that office can live a bit.

In Shops This Week:
Wolf #1
Writer: Ales Kot
Artist: Matt Taylor
Colorist: Lee Loughridge
Publisher: Image Comics
Price: $5
Description: The crime noir thrills and characters reminiscent of True Detective meet with mythical stakes worthy of Neil Gaiman’s Sandman in this original fantasy/horror/crime saga for mature readers. Antoine Wolfe, a hard-boiled paranormal detective with a death wish, has to cope with sudden responsibility for an orphaned teenage girl who might be the key to the impending apocalypse, California-style. The road to hell and back begins in a Max-sized First Issue, with fifty-eight pages of story and no ads!
Our Take: Oh boy, another noir/crime drama set in Los Angeles, California. But this one, as writer Ales Kot insists, is tainted with a streak of horror (as well as fantasy?) and the few preview images out there featured a person on fire singing a tune? So, this is relevant for sure.

Guardians of the Galaxy added another $300,000 to its weekend estimate to add to its record breaking August opening weekend total of $94.3 million. People are already seeing it multiple times, which could be a big problem for Paramount's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, which opens this weekend and will be hoping for much of the same audience, if not slightly younger. Universal's Get On Up lost a few dollars, dropping down to an official $13.5 million opening weekend, placing third below last weekend's big winner Lucy, which ended up dropping 58.4% for a second weekend total of $18.2 million. And finally, in fourth was Hercules, dropping a hefty 63% after a soft opening weekend. Critics and most general audiences can't seem to agree on the quality of The Amazing Spider-Man 2, but the box office take will still dictate that The Amazing Spider-Man 3 and spin-offs for The Sinister Six and Venom still make it to theaters. As the film still plays in theaters around the world, we've got some cool artwork that almost made it into the hands of fans, but ended up being scrapped in favor of the official Mondo poster released by IMAX for their Fanfix program. Now some of the unused artwork by UK artist Matt Taylor has surfaced online, and they're some pretty cool pieces that we'd still like to have. Look now! Here's Matt Taylor's unused concepts for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 poster from IMAX's blog: The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is directed by Marc Webb and written by Jeff Pinker, Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 was originally set to be released in the UK on April 18th, but Sony Pictures revealed yesterday that fans will be able to enjoy it a little sooner than that.
To get you in the mood for Marc Webb’s sequel, we also have a new IMAX Mondo poster and a couple of extended TV spots, along with what is apparently the final trailer.
Of course, now that The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will be released in the UK on April 16th, you may want to avoid seeing any more from the movie until then.
There’s some great new footage in the previews below however, and the poster (by Matt Taylor) is a very nice piece of artwork which would look positively amazing framed and on the wall.

Manchester City have only lost one of their last 15 meetings with West Ham as Manuel Pellegrini’s team entertain the East Londoners at the Etihad in the Capital One Cup semi-final.
Jack Collison scored a second half winner for the Hammers at Upton Park in March 2009, but that is the only victory they’ve recorded over City since back-to-back wins in 2006. Sam Allardyce remains short of striking options, so West Ham fans shall fondly remember Dean Ashton’s brace during an Fa Cup run to the final.
The Hammers are not much better off defensively either and come into this two-legged tie off the back of four defeats in their last five. Big Sam chose the Fa Cup third round tie at Nottingham Forest to blood youngsters en masse – a move that resulted in a 5-0 thumping.

The Growlers Live at The Deaf Institute, Manchester, Saturday October 26th 2013
Rating: 4 out of 5 stars
On perhaps what feels like the darkest, coldest night in Manchester yet, we’re camped out around The Deaf Institute, one of the city’s best music venues to catch the return of California’s self-described ‘beach goth’ troupe The Growlers.
After a big year promoting new album Hung At Heart, a headline spot at 2nd annual Burger Records shin-dig “Beach Goth Party II”, and a full UK tour ahead of them, these surf lords know how to keep themselves busy. Their early 60′s sci-fi influenced video for ‘One Million Lovers’ took the psych-pop world by storm earlier this June, showcasing that The Growlers place themselves high above the stars of today’s Middle-Earth generation of psych misfits.
With really no hesitation, The Growlers take the stage as the clock strikes nine o’clock. Unveiling his new chopped hairdo,...

West Ham are set to make a move for Benfica striker Oscar Cardozo, but only if they can lighten their wage bill to free up funds, according to talkSPORT.
Hammers manager Sam Allardyce is in the market for another forward with new signing Andy Carroll ruled out until mid September with a foot injury.
Cardozo, 30, has been one of the most prolific scorers in Portuguese football in recent seasons and banged in 17 goals in 25 Primeira Liga appearances last term.
The Paraguayan, who has also been linked with Manchester City and newly-promoted Cardiff, would relish the chance to showcase his talents in the Premier League.

When Steven Spielberg's Jaws burst onto movie theatre screens on Wednesday, June 20, 1975 (during a time when movies opened on a Wednesday), few were prepared for the impact it would have upon the movie-going public and the American cinema in particular. Moderately budgeted and given a standard shooting schedule, the film notoriously took nearly five months of grueling work to get usable footage. The story behind the making of one of Hollywood's most successful and greatest motion pictures is also one of the most interesting in the annals of cinema history. While books have been written about the subject of the making of Jaws, no one has really addressed the making of the film in an in-depth, substantial way through the use of rare photographs.
