He taught at the University of Ottawa, and received commissions from several entities, including the Canadian Music Awards, the Société de musique contemporaine du Québec, and the National Youth Orchestra of Canada.
He studied at the Conservatoire de Musique in Montréal. In 1971, he went to Europe, where he studied electroacoustic music with Gottfried Michael Koenig and composition with Karlheinz Stockhausen.
