- If I tweet that I'm making solo material then I have to do it. Right?!
- [on his decision to split from Kaiser Chiefs] It was obvious really, because they know I love the studio and I love writing and I'm not mad about touring. I loved touring at some point, but I didn't love it all the time and I didn't love it as much as everyone else.
- I'm the camp one [in Kaiser Chiefs], not like Mr Humphries though, just clean.
- When we were younger we wanted to make bouncy tunes you could just go a bit mental to and jump around the room listening to, but life moves on and things change.
- [2005] If you're the singer, everybody thinks you write the songs and if you're the drummer you get branded an idiot. So you have to work harder to push yourself and let people know you're not. [Hodgson writes most of the melodies and chords and an initial burst of lyrics.] I don't think I've ever written a second verse because my attention drifts to other things.
- [2005] I worked in a clothes shop for two weeks and I didn't want to go near the till. I didn't know how to do it. My brain just doesn't work in a lot of ways. I panic. I feel the pressure instantly comes and boils my head off. My brain does work in other ways that are a lot more important. [exhales sharply] So I'm glad about that.
- [when Kaiser Chiefs met Damon Albarn at South By Southwest in April 2005] I hope you haven't brought your lawyers.
- [2005] Every detail was important. What we wore, everything. [They started off banning jeans from the band; at their first Kaiser Chiefs gig, Wilson wore a tracksuit and flat cap.] Some of the early experiments with what we wore were a bit [a thoughtful pause] stupid. The thing that made it was when we put a hat on Peanut's head. What's the difference between Parva and Kaiser Chiefs? Peanut's got a hat on.
- [2005] The pressure has gone completely. If you'd looked at us in our rehearsal room two-and-a-half years ago, when we hadn't played anything for two hours and we'd just been talking about what the hell are we going to do, and everyone leaves fucking miserable, when you know that's happened and you look at us now [he sweeps his hand to take in the dressing room, the venue and beyond] how could there be pressure?
- [2005, on Kaiser Chiefs' first recording company being closed soon after they released their first album under their previous name Parva] We were very low and I had to keep the morale of the troops up. We had a lot to prove to ourselves. For me, I could never be happy if I wasn't writing songs and performing in a band. I never, ever considered anything else. Ever.
- [2005, on the time Kaiser Chiefs were still performing under the name Parva] We were younger and easily influenced by everything. We made every mistake you could possibly make.
- [on Noel Gallagher's "I did drugs for 18 years and it never got so bad that I said 'You know what, Kaiser Chiefs are brilliant'" comment] We're definitely not offended but I do actually like it. When I was 17 and Noel was going on about Blur I was watching it, and now I'm 30 and he's 50 and he's talking about us, it's brilliant.
- Had a great phone call from my 4 year old nephew. "Hi, can you come to our house for Christmas Eve so you can eat our turkey, bye."
- I sometimes drink that Brecon Carreg water from Boots. Does that make me Welsh?
- [2018] Me and my wife have been together for 16 years, married since 2013 and I have written two songs about her and that's not enough!
- [15 October 2018] A month ago today I became a dad!!
- Moth balls are actually quite big. Surprised they can get off the ground.
- [posting several pictures of large spiders on social media] If you don't like spiders you won't like this. I like spiders though.
