She earned a bachelor's degree from Middlebury College.
Before joining CNN in 1993, she worked for ABC News where she spent three years as a State Department correspondent, reporting from China, Israel and other global hotspots. She has also worked in Richmond, Va.; Syracuse, N.Y. and Bangor, Maine.
Previously, she was a CNN anchor.
