Entertainment One, the studio behind shows like “Yellowjackets” and “The Walking Dead,” has tapped former Netflix exec Kris Henigman as senior vice president of scripted television. He previously served as a consult for the company.
In the new role, Henigman will focus on the development and packaging of television projects.
“I am very excited to join the amazing team at eOne,” Henigman said. “In addition to eOne’s fantastic original series slate, Hasbro has a deep well of beloved IP that I have been a massive fan of since childhood. I am thrilled to help continue bringing these projects to screen as we add to an already exciting TV slate.”

eOne has selected Kris Henigman as its new senior vice president of scripted television, where he will focus on the development and packaging of television projects, Variety has learned exclusively.

Guillermo del Toro's next film Pacific Rim is getting a lot of love from the fans these days, and it looks like it inspired Gale Anne Hurd and Valhalla Entertainment to finally move forward on their own giant robot vs. monster movie, a live-action adaptation of Toei Animation's Japanese anime Gaiking. Hurd is currently a producer on The Walking Dead series, and has worked on other films such as Terminator, Aliens, and The Incredible Hulk.
The story follows "a young man who is recruited to serve as the lead pilot for the Super Robot Gaiking. With all of the hype surrounding Guillermo del Toro’s Pacific Rim, it’s no surprise that others are looking at bringing more giant robots to the big screen. After the success various studious have had with comic book adaptations, we’ve been expecting more people to look toward anime properties, and it has been announced that Gale Anne Hurd’s Valhalla Entertainment will be producing a live-action version of Gaiking:

Exclusive: Gale Anne Hurd’s Valhalla Entertainment has hired its first dedicated TV executive. Stacey Levin has joined the company as VP Television to oversee development of series projects in drama, comedy and reality for cable and broadcast networks. Valhalla also has promoted Creative Executive Kris Henigman to Director of Development and upped Hurd’s former assistant, Phillip Kobylanski to Story Editor. The staff expansion comes on the heels of Valhalla signing an exclusive pod deal with Universal Cable Prods. in April, the company’s first overall TV deal, as Valhalla looks the build on the success it has had with its first primetime series, AMC’s hit The Walking Dead, which Hurd executive produces. “Stacey has proven her ability to collaborate creatively and effectively on a wide array of projects in different genres with various networks,” says Hurd. “She will be invaluable to us as we expand our television production slate.

Gk-tv, a division of Gk Films, and Gale Anne Hurd’s Valhalla Entertainment have partnered to develop/produce a one-hour dramatic television series titled "Port Royal".
Set in the late 17th century on the island of Jamaica, the series will chronicle the namesake port’s notorious rise as "...the richest and wickedest city in the new world" and as a self-governing safe haven for cutthroat pirates, corrupt politicians, and ruthless merchants.
"I have been obsessed with pirates and Port Royal for years, and have a library of books on the subject," said Hurd.

Wendy Japhet has joined Gale Anne Hurd's Valhalla Motion Pictures as president. Anne Teixeira is joining the production company as a creative executive.
Reporting to Hurd, Japhet, who most recently served as Endgame Entertainment's president of production and development, will oversee acquisitions, development and production of Valhalla's projects.
Japhet served as exec producer on Todd Haynes' "I'm Not There"; "The Brothers Bloom," starring Rachel Weisz and Adrien Brody; and the upcoming Sony Pictures Classics release "An Education."
