He has fond memories of freely bicycling around the suburbs of Columbia, SC to visit his boyhood buddies.
Attended Georgia Tech's Industrial Engineering College in Atlanta for a year before dropping out to join the Air Force, which stationed him at Far East Headquarters in Tokyo. While there he was surprised with a last-minute invitation to attend a State Dinner with President George H.W. Bush and the Prime Minister of Japan, but declined partly because he'd outgrown his only good suit!
Counts himself fortunate to have lived in San Francisco when it was still possible for regular people to afford the place. Having lunch with Francis Ford Coppola at Cafe Zoetrope in 2001 helped give him the courage to move to LA.
Briefly worked in finance at the Bank of America, Charles Schwab, and Merrill Lynch, where his best call was recommending Ford stock when it was beaten down to one dollar by The Great Recession. But his favorite day job was working for the United Way of San Francisco where he broke records as a charitable fundraiser despite lacking any background in sales or social work.
Double-majored in Film Studies and Film Production at Santa Monica College.
Loves Old Hollywood movies as well as the New Hollywood era when Coppola, Spielberg, Lucas, and Scorsese were coming up.
Afficionado of Film Noir and Neo Noir movies.
Some favorites: Double Indemnity, Out of the Past, The Killers, Breathless, Blade Runner, Basic Instinct, LA Confidential, Drive.
A favorite quote: "Good judgment comes from experience. And experience? Well, that comes from poor judgment."
While researching perfumes for a female fashion model character, he realized he missed wearing cologne! Now he owns nearly 90 bottles and has sampled hundreds and hundreds of perfumes.
While researching his family tree he discovered Jennifer Lawrence and George Clooney are distant cousins. He descends from John Field, who wrote the first English language treatise on Copernican Astronomy.
Resides in West Los Angeles, where he likes to take his dog for walks in the canyon parks.
