- Stefan Drössler is known for The Joyless Street (1925), Helen of Troy (1924) and Different from the Others (1919).
- Since 1985 Programming director of the Bonn International Silent Film Festival. 1986-1998 Director of Bonner Kinemathek. Since 1999 Director of Filmmuseum Muenchen.
- At the Munich Film Museum Drössler works on the reconstruction of lost or fragmentary silent films like works by Ernst Lubitsch, Manfred Noa, Richard Oswald, Walther Ruttmann, Robert Reinert and of censored, re-edited or never completed sound films by Orson Welles, Max Ophüls, Werner Schroeter, Katrin Seybold. He is editor of the DVD label Edition Filmmuseum and recognized as a leading expert on the international history of 3-D film.
