- Jodie Foster spoke at his graduation from Yale.
- Started the company "nice people" to fund new talents in 1994. Since then, "nice people" has funded independent features, plays and artists and started multiple careers.
- A salon in the West Village in New York for the musical La Boheme inspired him to get friends together to help pay to fill up the house for a special performance of a new experimental musical based on La Boheme. Next, they started a grass roots campaign to promote the play by word of mouth, flyers and getting organizations to buy multiple seats. That then unknown play became the musical Rent (2005).
- When not surfing, doing animation or painting, he spends his free time working with recovering alcoholics and drug addicts. He says that there is nothing to put Hollywood in perspective and continue gratitude like working with someone who is losing everything due to a substance.
- At the time he earned the award, he was the youngest Eagle Scout in United States history.
- After winning Best Director at the Beverly Hills Film Festival in 2001, Clayton went through a car windshield. He says that the downside was that he looked like Quasimodo and much surgery was required. The upside is that he was able to re-evaluate his priorities and after many years of surgery, he's bionic, better than before and will not age.
