First and foremost: Chesley Sullenberger did extraordinary work in landing Us Airways flight 1549 in the Hudson River, and every single person involved in the rescue efforts that day deserves the highest possible praise for how they handled things. Every single passenger and crew member aboard survived, and that is to be celebrated, certainly. But as a film? I can imagine all of the good impulses that went into the decision to make Sully, but none of that matters when the film is as resolutely limp as this one. Clint Eastwood often works in a minor key, which is one of the things I like most about him as a filmmaker. He has always been interested in the understated, and Sully is certainly that. The danger is that you can be so understated that it becomes inert, and in the case of Sully, I don’t get the entire thing. I...

The bonds of blood are not all that connect the family though. According to Deadline, the series will focus on "a multi-generational family working in law enforcement." The series is coming from the same creative team behind Blue Bloods.
Leonard Goldberg is executive producer on the new series, and Elizabeth Davis Beall from Scorpion will write and executive produce as well.

Emily Dickinson is one of our most esteemed and mysterious poets. By age 30, she refused to leave her home; in fact, she usually spoke to people through a partially opened door. Sensitive and intelligent, Dickinson has long intrigued scholars, who have speculated on the myriad reasons for her isolation. Emily, An Amethyst Remembrance lets the poet speak for herself; this deeply moving production sites historic record, but captures the essence of the artist via her work. Now at the Kirk Theater, Emily relies on an economy of prose and direction to introduce her. It's aided by a lyrical script, thanks to Chris Cragin, and a strong ensemble, particularly Elizabeth Davis, whose Emily will steal your heart. The play begins in 1860 and moves back in time. Long called the "belle of Amherst," this quiet, soulful woman is entranced by literature...

Castle is one of those shows that proves – despite what we cynical bloggers say – that network execs do have a soft spot for a good story with good characters, even in the face of less than stellar numbers. Castle was written off by the bean-counters out here in the arm-chair ratings analysis corp, but ABC gave it another season anyways – and I'm sure nobody is complaining about being wrong. Nathan Fillion is seemingly hater-proof anyways, maybe you could accuse him of being too-likable, and Castle recalls enough Remington Steele with its updated pseudo-noir to be perfectly engrossing. Here is the lowdown on Castle's much anticipated September 7th premiere.
