- Roberts marriage ceremony was held at the Gansevoort Park Hotel in Manhattan, New York City, New York.

- Before becoming a national network broadcast anchor, he worked at a non-affiliated cable-TV station near his college alma mater in Westminster, Maryland. His first network affiliated job was as writer and field producer for San Diego NBC outlet KNSD. After San Diego he was a general assignment (on screen) reporter for the ABC affiliate in Lincoln, Nebraska, KLKN-TV. His first regular anchor job was for Fort Myers, Florida station WFTX-TV, a Fox affiliate, where he was also an investigative reporter. His second stint with an NBC affiliate was WAVY-TV in Portsmouth, Virginia, which serves the Virginia Tidewater area, where he co-anchored the late afternoon newscast and was also an investigative and consumer correspondent. Later he was briefly a correspondent for syndicated entertainment news programs Entertainment Tonight (1981) and The Insider (2004), both produced and distributed by CBS Paramount Domestic Television, and a correspondent for CBS News.
