Elvis Presley’s motto, “Taking Care of Business,” was inspired by a song written by a major classic rock star. The star in question was hugely inspired by the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll. The song “Takin’ Care of Business” battled an Elvis song for chart supremacy in the United States.
Elvis Presley‘s motto, “Taking Care of Business,” which inspired by a hit song from the 1970s called “Takin’ Care of Business.” The King of Rock ‘n’ Roll had a strong reaction to the tune when he heard it on the radio. Subsequently, one of the writers of the hit revealed why he never got to meet the “Hound Dog” singer.

Tim Bachman, a founding guitarist and vocalist of Bachman-Turner Overdrive, has died at the age of 71.
Bachman had been in hospice care after battling brain cancer, and his son announced his passing in a Facebook post. His death comes only a few months after the passing of his brother Robbie (Bto’s longtime drummer) in January.
Tim was one of the three Bachman brothers that helped form the classic rock group, originally under the name Brave Belt. He performed on Bto’s first two albums — Bachman-Turner Overdrive (1973) and Bachman-Turner Overdrive II (1973) — appearing on such hits as “Takin’ Care of Business” and “Let It Ride.”
He left the band in 1974 (replaced by Blair Thornton), citing a desire to spend more time with family, although his brothers claimed he was fired for violating the band’s policy of no alcohol or drugs on the road.

Rolling Stone’s interview series King for a Day features long-form conversations between senior writer Andy Greene and singers who had the difficult job of fronting major rock bands after the departure of an iconic vocalist. Some of them stayed in their bands for years, while others lasted just a few months. In the end, however, they all found out that replacement singers can themselves be replaced. This edition features former Judas Priest singer Tim “Ripper” Owens.

Jj Abrams is one of the most powerful people in Hollywood right now. Over his career in the movies, he's written, directed, produced, acted and played a wicked keyboard solo on Cool Guys Don't Look At Explosions, and through his production company Bad Robot, his name is counted among the credits of massive franchises like Cloverfield, Mission: Impossible, Star Trek and of course Star Wars. He's more of a household name than most filmmakers of his generation and we sometimes wish we wanted anything as much as he wants that Steven Spielberg status.
You can't blame him when you hear about his first paid job in the film industry. Returning a bunch of Spielberg's personal super-8 home movies that he discovered after his...

"Hey, Hillz! Nice meeting you. Lemme write you a song when you run for president!" That's basically how Katy Perry followed up her meeting with Hillary Clinton at a book signing last Friday. And Clinton seemed down with it, oddly enough. .@katyperry Well that's not a Hard Choice. You already did! Keep letting us hear you Roar.— Hillary Clinton (@HillaryClinton) June 22, 2014 But before you say that a Hillary Clinton-Katy Perry team-up seems a little out of left field, know that the Ready for Hillary Super Pac already used "Roar" in a promotional video earlier this year. "Eye of the tiger?...

Roughly halfway through "Inside Job," Andrew Lo, a professor of finance at MIT, describes an academic study of brain activity that showed that the same part of the brain stimulated by money is the same as cocaine. That this observation is made in the midst of a montage of Wall Street's infatuation with hookers, blow and the black corporate credit cards used to charge the latter two doesn't just imply that the pursuit of cash is a drug, but that as a filmmaker, Charles Ferguson has taken the gloves off.
Since his Oscar-winning 2007 doc "No End in Sight," Ferguson has gone from attacking a war to declaring one on Wall Street with a film that just as easily could've been called "No End in Sight II: Financial Edition." Broken down into four chapters and countless graphs, "Inside Job" is another brilliant, scrupulous breakdown of...

A Conversation with Fred Turner Mike Ragogna: Let's talk about your new album Bachman & Turner. Please don't be offended by this, but it sounds like classic Bto. Fred Turner: Actually I'm not offended at all. I'm glad to hear you say that. Mr: The album starts with "Rollin' Along," which puts us on the same road as the great Bachman-Turner Overdrive. Ft: Old highway songs. Mr: When was the last time you guys played together? Ft: Randy and I have not played together since '91. It's been a long time for us. I retired from the Bto lineup in '04, and I've been retired right up until June of this year. Randy came to me with an idea to put things back together two years ago, and we started planning this and getting an album ready two years ago. So, it's been a while for...

Bachman-Turner Overdrive founder Tim Bachman has been charged with sexually assaulting a minor. The guitarist is accused of assaulting a girl between 2000 and 2004, when she was aged 11 to 14.
The girl, now 20, came forward in May 2009 and reported the assault to police in Abbotsford, British Columbia. Bachman, 58, turned himself in voluntarily following an 11-month investigation. He was formally charged on Monday, June 14 and accused of sexual interference with a person under the age of 14, sexual assault and touching a young person for a sexual purpose.
He is due in court for a preliminary hearing on July 5. Police have refused to divulge further information in order to protect the identity of the victim.
Bachman, who now works as a real estate agent in British Columbia, formed Bto with brothers Randy and Robbie Bachman in 1973 and departed the supergroup a year later.

Turn on your Xbox 360 today (or any day in the future) and you'll probably notice a bunch of changes. Today marks the launch of the latest dashboard update on the 360, which adds support for Facebook, Twitter and Last.FM for registered Gold Xbox Live users.
We've written quite a bit about the update (which you can read here), but now's a good time to hop online and try it out for yourself. I'll be busy rocking out to my custom Bachman-Turner Overdrive station.

After executive producer Al Jean mentioned it last week, representatives of the band confirmed today that Coldplay would make a guest appearance on an episode during the upcoming season of "The Simpsons." They'll join an impressive list of bands who have gone yellow for the show, including U2, the Ramones, the Who, Smashing Pumpkins and Metallica. Coldplay don't necessarily have the same cool cred as the bands above, but are they the most mediocre act to ever play a note with yellow skin? Here are the musical guests that give them a run for their money.
