After years of build up and months of capital-h hype, “Avengers: Infinity War” is finally hitting theaters this week. And, uh, speaking of build up and hype, Marvel has been so determined to keep spoilers from spilling out that world premiere screenings held tonight in Los Angeles and New York City are (as far as we know) the first time the film has been shown to anyone outside of the studio.
In fact, most movie critics won’t even see “Infinity War” until tomorrow morning. By the way, good luck critics, because the review embargo lifts at 3:00 p.m. Pacific time. But while critics have to wait to speak their peace, the social media embargo expired Monday night at 10:30, right after the Hollywood gala premiere let out.
Anyway, you’re probably not going to believe this, but people who attended tonight’s screenings are freaking out on Twitter.

First past the post was Kevin Smith, who violated the embargo by several hours to gush about “Infinity War”:
I am overwhelmed. The movie is epic beyond compare. Loved it. My legs are still shaking. It’s a gigantic @Marvel masterpiece. So much to say but I’ll stay Silent Bob til Monday so as not to slip in spoilers. Suffice to say it’s gonna be a looooong year until @Avengers 4… pic.twitter.com/aHnsgj5MK0

Avengers: Infinity War blew my mind. I have never left a film this awestruck. Ever. Thanos is a force of Nature. Thor is the Mvp. Marvel Studios lays down the Infinity Gauntlet with this one.

#InfinityWar is a whole lot to process. I liked it a lot, and there’s so much that works, but it definitely is “Part 1.” The ending is amazing and worth the journey, but there is a Lot crammed into its run time. Overall really liked it but need a rewatch already. pic.twitter.com/3P3rd3ojHJ

Doctor Strange emerges as a truly fascinating character. He contains multitudes… literally. Cumberbatch is now in firm command of that character’s gravitas, and delivers the one action and single line that everyone will be discussing and debating for the next year. #InfinityWar

Weak stuff: Subplot involving Vision, the concept of which I never entirely bought into, and which drives the entire Wakandan section of the film. Everyone in that subplot feels like ciphers, lacking any arc beyond being cool-looking chess pieces from better movies. #InfinityWar

I saw #AvengersInfinityWar earlier tonight and I can say that it delivers. Despite all the complaints that were aimed at Man of Steel regarding the levels of destruction it boasted, I stood my ground back in 2013 saying that it’d been the Superman movie I’d been waiting for. In short, it retold Big Blue’s story for the modern era, played host to some spectacular action sequences, and featured the perfect lead in Henry Cavill.
But, as you know, money talks in the film industry – and the reboot didn’t meet the studio’s expectations. Sure, $668 million is a pretty healthy take, but word on the street was that Warner Bros. were expecting $800 million. As such, they roped in their golden boy, Batman, for the sequel and the rest was history.
Now, we could talk about all the possible flowcharts of DC movies that are either in the pipeline right now or were dropped along the way, but one such project...

“Wonder Woman” opens in theaters Friday, but before you see it, TheWrap’s resident fanboy Umberto Gonzalez (a.k.a. me) and film producer Daniel Alter have shared our thoughts about the latest DC Films release. This is the best DC Extended Universe movie to date, in my opinion. And I’m not alone, as “Wonder Woman” is stunning critics, who are calling the film “electrifying” and a “breathtaking cinematic achievement” that makes it “one of the best superhero movies of all time.” “I think we have the first, great DC universe film,” said Alter. Zack Synder won’t be anywhere near the upcoming solo Batman movie according to a new Heroic Insider podcast. In the show, it’s mentioned that rumors are pointing to Ben Affleck and DC Entertainment Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns getting “complete creative control” over the project.
That doesn’t clearly state that Synder won’t have anything to do with the movie, but the podcast – hosted by Hollywood producer Daniel Alter – continued to mention that Johns will really be on as a “consultant.” So it seems that, by and large, this will be Affleck’s movie to make, hopefully exceeding the somewhat divisive response of Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice.
Previously, WB confirmed that Affleck will indeed return in his own Batman movie, which he’ll also write and direct. No specific release date has been given, but it’s likely one of a handful of mysterious release...

Which logically indicates that Zack Snyder, Deborah Snyder, Charles Roven or any other frequent Dceu overseer has no say on what Johns and Affleck ultimately cook up. Alter and Gonzalez further report that Affleck is taking the lead and Johns is more of a consultant, providing necessary references to comic book lore and not necessarily shaping the story. After months of speculation, WB recently confirmed that Affleck will indeed star, write and direct the solo Batman film. We already know that Batman will appear in David Ayer’s Suicide Squad, In the early trailers we saw him riding on top of The Joker’s car, and the most recent trailer featured even more of him. Since it was revealed that Batman would be in the movie, I’ve been wondering how much screen time he would have. I assumed it wouldn’t be that much because the focus is on so many other characters, but it turns out that the Dark Knight might have more of a presence in the film than we think. In a recent episode of Heroic Insider, hosts Umberto Gonzalez and Daniel Alter talk about what they learned from sources who have attended test screenings for the film:
"The film tested recently, they had test screenings, and according to sources, check this out, there is a lot more Batman in the movie than they are letting on.

Talking in the video below, Heroic Insider hosts Umberto Gonzalez and Daniel Alter seemingly shed some light on the role Batman will play in Suicide Squad. We've seen Ben Affleck's Caped Crusader going after The Joker and Harley Quinn in both the set videos and trailers, but could there be more to that than meets the eye? "The film tested recently, they had test screenings, and according to sources, check this out, there is a lot more Batman in the movie than they are letting on." That's a very interesting tease, and the prospect of seeing the hero coming face to face with Amanda Waller or other members of Task Force X is definitely exciting. As always, be sure to take this with a pinch of salt for the time being of course, but here's hoping Batman shows up in that next trailer for the movie, eh? Starring Will Smith,...

Last night, news broke that our very own Umberto Gonzalez, aka El Mayimbe, was set to make his directorial debut. The Hollywood Reporter broke the story, and it's with great pleasure that we here at Latino-Review share with you what our boy has been up to.
Gonzalez wrote a script for a film called Breakneck, and he's been hard at work putting all the pieces together to get it made. This announcement now confirms that he's put together a deal with Vetted Media, who are going to finance and produce the film with Mayimbe, himself, at the helm. The men behind Vetted Media happen to be Jeff Forsyth and Daniel Alter. If Alter sounds familiar it's because he's the producer of Hitman (and the upcoming reboot Agent 47), a trusted voice on Twitter, and he also happens to be Mayimbe's co-host for those epic "Kings of Con" bashes that go...

Umberto Gonzalez better known as famed online film writer El Mayimbe from Latino Review, is (full disclosure) a delightful guy I've known for years and one I consider a friend.
Today I'm very happy to report that he is set to make his directorial debut on the micro-budget, episodic, digital action-thriller series "Breakneck" for Vetted Media.
Gonzalez penned the script which follows a New York City bodega clerk who must go on the run from a corrupt private militarized company after discovering incriminating information and being framed for murder.
Daniel Alter and Jeff Forsyth will produce. Filming aims to begin before the end of the year. Once complete, all episodes will be released simultaneously on Vetted's YouTube channel while a feature length cut will be made available on Svod platforms.

Ok, so we know that there have been far to many rumors going around about Man of Steel 2 or Batman vs. Superman or whatever you want to call it. We try not to bog down your feed with nonsense and silly rumors like some other sites do, but every once in awhile we need to address something. There is this guy on twitter, Daniel Alter, I guess he has been right about a few things, such as the horrific casting of Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, etc. Well, he mentioned oh so casually that the film is actually going to be Justice League the other day, setting off the net. Of course, he has since backtracked and said he doesn't really know for sure, he's just making an educated guess. Well, I think we can all see the holy Dc Comics trinity in this film and assume its a Justice League movie,...

Here’s some interesting news for you on this fine Thursday night. According to Warner Bros. producer Daniel Alter, Zack Snyder’s upcoming Batman vs. Superman is actually going to be the planned Justice League movie. Now, just because Alter is a producer at the very studio this project is housed at doesn’t mean he’s correct, but seeing as he told us that Gal Gadot would be Wonder Woman before she was officially cast, he’s definitely worth listening to.

With Nevada’s newly approved production tax incentives going into effect Jan. 1, the state is in a strong position to lure film, television and commercial shoots, and Alter is getting in on the ground floor while there’s still room. The sequel to Man of Steel is shaping up to be quite the blockbuster event, not just for general audiences who will likely see Superman and Batman interact for the first time, but also for DC Comics fans. After a producer potentially confirmed both the appearance of Dick Grayson and the presence of Kingdom Come-esque "Bat Drones," the Internet was set ablaze with a lot of possibilities revolving around the inclusion of Nightwing, and the "tired and weary" Batman's history in the world of Man of Steel. Now, that same producer has started the rumor mill yet again, this time with more potential character confirmations - one of which that has already panned out - that will make a decisive impact on the shape of the film. A little while ago, Daniel Alter sent out a Tweet saying that we should expect to see Batman Vs. Superman feature a Caped Crusader no longer speaking to his former sidekick, as well as an apparently reclusive Bruce Wayne controlling Bat-drones from his cave. His connections to Warner Bros. meant the Tweets were taken seriously, and he's once again sent out a couple of possibly very interesting pieces of information about the Zack Snuder helmed movie. Zack Snyder’s upcoming project Batman vs. Superman may be taking its inspiration from the popular 1996 DC Comics mini-series Kingdom Come.
Ever since Batman vs. Superman was first announced, we’ve all suspected that director Zack Snyder and writer David S. Goyer would be basing their story on one of the numerous Superman and Batman co-starring comic tales. Many fans figured it would most likely be Frank Miller’s iconic Dark Knight Returns finale. The new rumor that the Man of Steel sequel will be using the well-regarded comic book mini-series Kingdom Come as the movie’s general inspiration comes from Screen Rant, based on a tweet from WB producer Daniel Alter.
“Daniel Alter @DAlter007 : Can't wait for #BatmanvsSuperman.. #batfleck semi-retired/not speaking to Robin anymore...Controlling drones from the batcave.”
The idea that Kingdom Come might be the basis for the film seems to fit the rumors and information we have so far.

Lots of news on the Batman Vs Superman front these last couple of days. So let’s get right to it! First, Dave McNary from Variety scored himself an interview with producer Charles Roven. Roven discusses how they been in prep on the upcoming film.
“On ‘Batman vs. Superman,’ we started soft prep in June, and we’ll be shooting eight months later….We felt that we accomplished our goals with ‘Man of Steel, our intention was to bring Superman into the 21st century with a contemporary character and a different kind of superhero than what’s out there right now…We knew we had created a world and we had left Easter eggs in the movie that let people know that in the universe that Zack was creating, there was the possibility of other DC characters besides Clark Kent.”
The idea for Batman Vs Superman has been around for a hot minute.

We've got a little bit of new information to share with you regarding Zack Snyder's Batman Vs. Superman. It's not a lot of information, but it does offer some insight into what we might see in the movie. The info comes from Warner Bros. producer Daniel Alter.
There are some potential Spoilers here, so if you don't want to know then don't read the following tweet...
Can't wait for #BatmanvsSuperman.. #batfleck semi-retired/not speaking to Robin anymore.. Controlling drones from the batcave.
We already knew that Affleck would be playing an older, more reclusive Batman, and I just assumed if Dick Grayson was going to be in the movie they would be estranged. The drones thing is a pretty cool little tidbit though! I could see Batman using drones to help him fight crime. It's actually a pretty great idea. I hope if turns out to be true.

A new tweet has arrived people. A tweet! Yes, it’s Friday and we're all halfway into the weekend, so let’s get right into it. What are we carping on about? Superhero in-the-know blogger Umberto Gonzalez has been generally on the money with his “Batman Vs. Superman” reporting of late. This morning he tweeted he was about to retweet a “scoop” about the upcoming Zack Snyder-directed superhero film for Warner Bros. And so he did, retweeting film producer Daniel Alter who tweeted “Can't wait for #BatmanvsSuperman.. #batfleck semi-retired/not speaking to Robin anymore… Controlling drones from the batcave.” First off, why should you believe Alter? While he isn’t a producer on “Batman Vs. Superman” he does have some ties to Warner Bros. (an exec-producer on “The Apparition” and a still-in-development “Johnny Quest” film). He also appears to be a fan of the characters for what that’s worth.

But the drones thing is a Very interesting addition -- if true of course. Alter may have tacked that bit on to stir up the fanboys, or it might just be something he's heard and hasn't confirmed - but assuming that it's on the level, if Bats is using drones it might be why Superman is forced to get involved in his business, eventually leading to their dust-up. Gerard Butler is in talks to star as Kane in the film adaptation of the "Kane and Lynch" video game franchise at Nu Image/Millennium Films.
The game follows Adam 'Kane' Marcus (Butler), a mercenary on death row who, along with a schizophrenic killer named Lynch, is sprung to retrieve a stolen and very valuable microchip.
The pair, along with Kane's former teammates, travel to Los Angeles, Japan and Cuba in order to save his wife and daughter.
There's a big connection to "Law Abiding Citizen" here - Butler and Jamie Foxx starred in that film which was helmed by director F. Gary Gray. Gray became attached to direct this film back in 2010 and that remains the case.
Foxx was also attached to play Lynch at one point, but not anymore. Instead, an offer is out to Vin Diesel to play Lynch.

The casting of Ben Affleck as Batman caught Everyone off guard. The way I found out about it was not on twitter, but when the Variety newsletter came into my inbox with the news. I thought it was one of their Hollywood & Swine humor pieces. I couldn’t believe it. Then the Deadline newsletter came in next and I knew it was no joke. Then my phone started blowing up and it set in… Warners got their man. Personally, I think it is an Awesome choice. I dig Affleck as an actor and especially as a filmmaker. I’m excited to see what he brings to the table.
The conversation with my friends and peers have been nonstop since the news broke. I had one cool conversation with my Kings Of Con partner Daniel Alter and told him he should articulate his thoughts into an article. Lo and behold here it is below so enjoy.
