- Emery Deutsch was born on September 10, 1904 in Budapest, Hungary. He died on April 16, 1997 in Miami, Florida, USA.
- Violin-playing bandleader, successful with CBS radio broadcasts in the 1930's. He was music director of CBS from 1929 to 1940. He wrote more than eighty songs, including the rather corny theme of his band "When a Gypsy Makes His Violin Cry". Deutsch remained in the music business until the 1960's, playing hotels, night spots and top venues like the Mayflower in Washington, the Ritz-Carlton in New York and Radio City Music Hall.
