With nearly every horror franchise receiving the documentary treatment these days, it's not surprising that Hellraiser is among them. Today, we've got some early details for you on behind-the-camera talent.
Dark Knight Pictures announces that Stefan Hutchinson (Halloween: 25 Years of Terror) will direct the definitive documentary with our good friend Ryan Rotten on scripting duties. Anthony Masi (His Name Was Jason) will handle producing details.
Really looking forward to this one. While I'd argue that there are only three films in the Hellraiser series (unless someone wants to release the longer cut of Bloodline), I'm really curious to see how the direct-to-video Dimension era is handled.

One thing I hate about Blu-ray is the damn region locking that plagued DVD. Before importing a disc, I've got to do plenty of research to ensure it'll work in my player, which sometimes leads to depressing news. While we have a pretty sweet version of Day of the Dead in high definition already thanks to Anchor Bay, today's announcement of a UK edition sounds even sweeter!
Frankly, this announcement is so cool that I'm listing every word here:

Stefan Hutchinson has given us a look at the cover for his upcoming comic book "Day of the Dead: Desertion." The "Halloween: Nightdance" scribe collaborated on this title with Barry Keating ("Hack/Slash Meets Re-Animator") and illustrator Jeff Zornow ("Halloween: The First Death of Laurie Strode"). It chronicles the origins of Day of the Dead 's Bub and the comic is being packaged with the forthcoming Day of the Dead Blu-Ray special edition arriving in the UK on March 29. 2006's Deaden (review here) was a bloody, nasty throwback to the 70s and 80s vigilante flicks, and those of us that dug it can look forward to an expansion of the story ... in printed form.
According to Deaden author Stefan Hutchinson, "It's based on the film that [John] Fallon wrote and starred in but ignores the budget limitations that they had with that. It also deviates and goes into more surreal territory with much, much more violence."
Awesome. And you don't have to take Hutchinson's word for it. Head on over to writer/star John Fallon's official site for a glimpse of what to expect. Sure, they're only in penciled form, but they're looking good. In the meantime dig on this exclusive artwork from the upcoming bloodbath graphic novel.
Keep up the good work, guys. Your hearts are in the right place, and I'm definitely looking forward to this one!

The spirit of Halloween arrives every month in Hack/Slash. Costumed characters straight out of an 80’s horror flick do battle with a sexy but confused babe named Cassie Hack and her ugly monster man sidekick, Vlad. It’s fun, especially when you grab a candy bar and turn the lights out for some candles and a spooky Vincent Price CD. Okay, I’m getting into the Halloween spirit a little too much here for a comic book, but you have to admit, if you love October 31st like I do, then this might not be a bad idea. Just don’t smash pumpkins every month.

Stefan Hutchinson is a Michael Myers nut, or as he likes to call it, “The Shape behind the Shape”. He burst onto the horror scene back in 2006, directing and co-writing the intricate documentary Halloween: 25 Years Of Terror, featuring behind the scenes interviews with cast and crew from the 2003 Halloween anniversary convention. In 2008, Halloween Comics was presented to the world of comic books with the help of Devils Due Publishing, and Stefan Hutchinson tackled the writing duties for its initial release, Halloween: Nightdance, which was a Fangoria Top 10 book for 2008. He is the prominent writer for Halloween Comics, continuing on with 30 Years Of Terror, Autopsis and The First Death Of Laurie Strode, along with the upcoming The Mark Of Thorn series featuring that mysterious “Man in Black” from Halloween 6. Fangoria caught up Stefan during a major writing session to ask some questions on the successful launch of Halloween Comics,...
