Not long ago we got our first look at Brenton Thwaites in the role of Robin in the upcoming DC Entertainment series Titans. I was actually really impressed with the visual style of the character. Now today we have our first look at stars Alan Ritchson (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) and Minka Kelly (Friday Night Lights) as the superhero duo Hawk and Dove! I'm really digging the character designs! They look pretty badass.
Titans is being written by Akiva Goldsman, DC Entertainment’s Geoff Johns and Greg Berlanti and this is the previously released synopsis:
Titans follows a group of young soon-to-be superheroes recruited from every corner of the DC Universe. In the action-adventure series, Dick Grayson emerges from the shadows to become the leader of a fearless band of new heroes that includes Starfire (Diop), Raven (Croft) and others.

Following the reveal earlier this month of Brenton Thwaites in costume as Dick Grayson Aka Robin, another first look from DC’s upcoming Titans TV series has landed – this time revealing two superheroes for the price of one.
The image below shows us how superhero duo Hawk and Dove will appear on screen. Under that red and white helmet is Alan Ritchson (Smallville‘s Aquaman), who’s playing Hank Hall, and beside him and hidden behind those oversized goggles is Minka Kelly (Friday Night Lights) as Dawn Granger, Hank’s crime-fighting (and romantic) partner.
Similar to Thwaites’ Robin outfit, Hawk and Dove look fairly close to their comic book counterparts, only with the colour schemes toned down and the skin-tight unitards swapped for more protective armour. You can see how the characters look on the page for comparison purposes in the gallery below.

Upcoming TV series Titans has definitely piqued DC fans’ curiosity. After all, the Teen Titans have been crying out for a live-action adaptation for decades now and finally, one’s about to arrive in the form of the aforementioned show, which is set to air on DC’s streaming service. We already know it’ll star Pirates of the Caribbean’s Brenton Thwaites as Dick Grayson and wherever there’s Robin, a certain pointy-eared vigilante usually isn’t far behind…

Knowing how broad the horizon is when it comes to DC films said to be arriving in theaters over the course of the next few years, I’ll be bold in saying that the movie I’m most looking forward to in a post-Justice League world may very well be Nightwing. Sure, my favorite character may be Batman himself, but we’ve grown quite accustomed to seeing him on the big screen and, let’s face it, a picture focused squarely on the Boy Wonder grown up is long, long overdue.

If you’ve seen Stranger Things, which, let’s face it, you likely have, you’ve probably had the thought: “Hey, this is a bit like X-Men.” Apparently, that’s something which digital artist/uberfan Boss Logic seems to have thought of as well, as he’s now taken the similarity and run with it, creating a bunch of images that reimagine the cast of Netflix’s hit sci-fi show as Marvel heroes.

If, like us, you’ve spent the past nine days immersed in Stranger Things, you’ve likely grown fond of Dacre Montgomery.
Introduced as one of Hawkins’ many newcomers (see: Sadie Sink, Sean Astin), the Powers Rangers breakout played the part of Billy, a hard-rocking, mullet-wearing teen with a deep and burning hatred for his abusive father. It’s an admittedly clichéd role for Montgomery to fill, but much like the entire cast of Netflix’s sci-fi darling, the actor manages to bring something a little different to what is essentially a stereotypical character.
And it seems Montgomery’s performance hasn’t fallen on deaf ears, either. Over the weekend, the up-and-coming actor almost sent the Internet into a collective tailspin by posting a photo of Dick Grayson (Aka Nightwing) to Twitter, only to delete the status 20 minutes later.

Having been a beloved comic book property for decades before becoming a darling among animation lovers beginning in 2003, one could say that the Teen Titans have been overdue for a live action adaptation for quite some time. The latest installment of Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo’s opus, Dark Nights: Metal #3, takes a powerful turn as Superman gets sucked into the Dark Multiverse like the gullible nut he is. While most of us thought this was lining up to be another Batman-centric event, it appears as if the Man of Steel was the one who Barbatos wanted all along.
With so much talk of heavy metal, this issue touches upon the event’s music theme rather well, with Damian and Jon’s jam and Batman’s warning to Clark and Diana being significant to the plot. Coupled with the dark imagery, this book could very well be the prototype for Ghost’s next album if you ask me.
From a narrative perspective, there’s an interesting twist as Superman and Nightwing have differing views on what to do next. At first, it appears as if Snyder is...

Luckily, it sounds like Warner Bros. have found the right guy to sit in the director’s chair, that being Chris McKay. Having already made the studio some serious dough with The Lego Batman Movie, the filmmaker looks to continue his stay in Gotham City. When Phil Lord and Chris Miller turned animation on its head with “The Lego Movie” in 2014, they proved you could successfully make a punk rock hero’s journey that was both reverential and iconoclastic. This year Chris McKay expanded into Gotham with “The Lego Batman Movie,” and Charlie Bean takes a naturalistic turn with his martial arts brick adventure, “The Lego Ninjago Movie.” Despite embracing different genres, they are variations on family, friendship, and self-discovery.
“When I first saw ‘The Lego Movie,’ I thought this was so different and so cool,” said Bean, who makes his feature debut after helming the “Tron Uprising” animated series. “It was a garage band type of aesthetic. It doesn’t care about the rules. It can be live-action, it can use different graphic design. We can break the rules and do whatever we want. It’s funnier, more brash, and, at the same time,...

Take another look @ DC Comics' 'Starfire' from"Injustice 2" as the super-powered female alien, motivated to action by the death of 'Dick Grayson', aka 'Nightwing', shows off her deadly energy beams, celestial projectiles and a whole lot more:
'Starfire', aka 'Koriand'r, debuted in "DC Comics Presents" #26 (October 1980), created by writer Marv Wolfman and illustrator George Pérez, as an alien 'Tamaranean', with a physiology designed to absorb ultraviolet radiation, that allows her to fly at supersonic speeds.
This energy also provides her with superhuman strength and durability. She also has the ability to release her absorbed energy into powerful blasts.
Starfire is also proficient in hand-to-hand combat, trained by the 'Warlords of Okaara'. She also doesn't need to eat, drink, sleep and doesn't require an atmosphere to breathe.

DC fans may be reeling at the sheer volume of high-profile blockbusters cramming up the pipeline (see: Wonder Woman 2, The Joker), but there’s perhaps no one more excited for a Nightwing spinoff than writer-director Chris McKay.
Fresh off his work on The Lego Batman Movie, McKay is busy drawing up plans for what he believes will be a “f**ing badass action movie” teeming with heart and emotion. A Dick Grayson-led offshoot is just one of many DC projects currently in development, and while chatting to Metro (via Cbm), Chris McKay touched base on the competition brewing between Warner Bros. and Marvel Studios.
In short, the filmmaker believes Warner’s output encourages “wholly original and wholly unique” films, as opposed to following a tried-and-tested recipe for success.

If 2016 was held up as a defining year for the DC Extended Universe, then 2017 will be remembered as the year in which Warner’s superhero universe ballooned in size.

The latter has naturally been placed on the back-burner after Whedon agreed to see Justice League over the finish line, and even earned a screenwriting credit while doing so.

Now that Warner Bros. and DC have a Joker origin film in the works with Martin Scorsese as producer, it looks like they are eyeing one of the biggest stars in Hollywood, Leonardo DiCaprio. Sounds awesome right? Well that’s the plan at least.
