March isn’t that far away, and Capcom has begun the buzz for the upcoming Resident Evil 4 remake. Game Informer snagged the first big preview for the upcoming entry, and with it, several bits of info regarding the additions (and removals) made to the game.
For starters, those who thought the quick-time events in the original version were distracting? They’re gone. Another change made to the gameplay involves knives. Leon’s trusty melee weapon will now have limited durability, and will break after a certain amount of use. Luckily, you can store multiple knives in your inventory.
As for the additions, Capcom has added new sidequests to Resident Evil 4 remake. These range from finding snake carcasses to hunting down a specific enemies. You can obtain these side-quests through blue flyers found throughout the world, which can then be turned in for rewards at the Merchant’s shop.

As many had rightly predicted, one of this year’s first blockbuster video game releases has ultimately proven to be one of its best.
Capcom’s beloved remake of the survival horror classic Resident Evil 2 has been tipped to win big at year-end awards ceremonies ever since it released back in January, and now, those lofty expectations are beginning to ring true. As one of the longest-running awards shows in the industry and now in its 37th year, the Golden Joysticks are one of several such occasions intended to celebrate the incredible talent of developers big and small around the world.
With winners voted for entirely by the public via online ballot, there’s perhaps no greater indicator of a title’s success than being crowned a winner in any particular category, and it just so happens that Resident Evil 2 scooped up the most prestigious one of all. In what...

Getting Resident Evil 2‘s item/resource management metagame into the pitch-perfect shape required for launch wasn’t easy, Capcom has revealed. As per the latest issue of Game Informer, co-director for the critically acclaimed survival horror remake, Kazunori Kadoi, states that the secret to that success is trial and error, and a lot of it at that.
Personally, I’ve often found myself pondering how developers decide where, and with what frequency, to place the necessary resources that the player needs to survive and the Resident Evil series, perhaps more than any other, is a prime example of how to get the balance just right. Kadoi’s revelation might make the process sound oh-so-simple, but it’s tough to label it anything but modest.
Make healing items too commonplace, and the player will feel decidedly less unsafe knowing that they have restoratives to fall back on after a nasty zombie bite.

“Knock knock, open up the door, it’s real.”
Who knew Resident Evil 2 and Dmx would work so well? Because Capcom’s wildly successful reboot features a relentless (and downright terrifying) brute known only as Mr. X, it didn’t take long before the Internet dubbed “X Gon’ Give It To Ya” into the game, resulting in some truly hilarious videos of RE2‘s tyrant wreaking havoc.
And now, thanks to a deep dive interview with PC Gamer, game director Kazunori Kadoi has responded to that very mod, admitting that Capcom was utterly floored by the reaction to Mr. X and his thunderous footsteps – the kind of footsteps you’ll hear long into the night.
There are elements that we included (such as his hat) that we hoped would resonate and be a talking point with players, but we had no idea that people would enjoy Tyrant to this degree,...

Not since Alien: Isolation has a relentless foe stalked our every move so brilliantly – yes, Resident Evil 2 and, more specifically, the tyrant known as Mr. X is truly a force to be reckoned with, as he pursues Leon Kennedy and Claire Redfield throughout the majority of Capcom’s celebrated reboot.
Frankly, there’s no let-up, and he’s also wormed his way into popular culture thanks to a series of Resident Evil 2 mods, each one more hilarious than the last. Suffice it to say, Capcom never expected Mr. X to resonate with its userbase quite so strongly, and yet, fans have pored over every little detail of T-00, whose thunderous footsteps can be heard echoing through the corridors of Resident Evil 2.
Speaking of which, game designer Kazunori Kadoi recently explained the ways in which Capcom’s development team created the footsteps of an eight-foot killing machine.

By now, I certainly hope you’ve had the chance to play the recently released Resident Evil 2 remake. Though it didn’t top the 1998 original in my view, it’s one fantastic entry into the long-running survival horror franchise that I simply can’t get enough of.
Whether or not you’ve been able to partake in the fun, odds are you’ve seen the dreadful Mr. X popping up in videos on your social media feed. To date, the sharply dressed Tyrant has confounded players and likely forced them to poop their pants on various occasions.
To my surprise – and, apparently, Capcom’s – Mr. X has caught on like none could’ve imagined. Perhaps it’s the social media element I mentioned moments ago that played a big part, because that sure wasn’t around when I was blasting zombies in Raccoon City more than twenty years ago.
Still,...

If there’s one character that has resonated within the hearts and minds of Resident Evil fans following 2019’s remake, it’s got to be the one and only Mr. X, also referred to as the Tyrant. Not only is he a formidable, unstoppable force that’ll eat your ammunition like it’s a bowl of iron-enriched cereal, but his eerie footsteps can be heard a mile off thanks to the game’s exquisite audio design, sending shivers down the spines of any unsuspecting players.
All that’s without even mentioning Mr. X’s incredibly hilarious and memorable memes, along with the terrific mod support from the PC community. From the amazing X Gon’ Give It To Ya, to the strangely sexy thong mod, to one that literally turns Mr. X into Thomas The Tank Engine (we kid you not), it almost feels like Mr. X is the blood-soaked gift that keeps on giving.

Since launch back in January, the near-universal consensus is that Capcom hit a home run with its recreation of Resident Evil 2 and its famous cast, but there’s one particular star that’s stood – quite literally – head and shoulders above the rest. Mr. X, the T-Virus infused bioweapon deployed by Umbrella to seek out and destroy any survivors of the Raccoon City incident, has rocketed to stardom thanks, in no small part, to his stylish dress sense and a slew of hilarious mods. Not until now, though, have fans really known how Mr. X functions and responds to his environment.
In a recent sit-down with PC Gamer, Resident Evil 2 director Kazunori Kadoi lifted the lid on some of Mr. X’s inner workings, chief among the revelations being how the indestructible assailant goes about locating Leon or Claire during their attempts to escape Raccoon City. According to Kadoi, whenever the player manages to give Mr.

Anyone who’s played the remake of Resident Evil 2 by now has no doubt shared tales of their close encounters with Mr. X with friends and the world at large. Hey, any survival horror fan with a Facebook account can attest to having seen countless videos showcasing peoples’ run-ins with the sharply dressed Tyrant.
Depending on which character you play as, that affects how often you encounter him during your gameplay experience. If you’re Leon Kennedy, then Mr. X hounds you off and on for the entire game, effectively serving as the final boss. But if you choose Claire Redfield, he’s killed by the William Birkin creature during a cutscene around the story’s halfway point.
Because of this, there’s been some debate within the Resident Evil community as to how many Tyrants are running around Raccoon City. Some think there are two, one stalking Leon, and one following Claire.
