Halsey is headed to the Hollywood Bowl to voice Sally in a production of The Nightmare Before Christmas.
The 29-year-old “Nightmare” hitmaker will perform songs from the movie while backed with a full orchestra when the spooky classic returns ahead of Halloween later this month.
They are set to take the stage for two shows before ceding the role to Catherine O’Hara, who voiced Sally in the original movie.

Halsey‘s performances will take place on October 27 and 28, with Catherine taking over on October 29. The pop star will share the stage with Fred Armisen (Lock), Ken Page (Oogie Boogie) and Danny Elfman (Jack Skellington).
This is a first for Halsey, but it is not the first time that a pop star who stepped in to voice Sally. Billie Eilish did so for a different live-to-film experience back in 2021.

Catherine O’Hara will reprise her “Sally” character from 1993’s The Nightmare Before Christmas for one of three 30th anniversary concerts at the Hollywood Bowl just in time for Halloween.
The concert will reunite O’Hara with her Nightmare co-star Danny Elfman, who will sing the Jack Skellington role all three nights, Oct. 27-29. Elfman wrote the music for the 1993 Disney animated film.
Singer-songwriter Halsey will perform the role of Sally on the first two nights of the concert series – October 27 and 28, with O’Hara taking over for the Oct. 29 show. Other concert guests include Fred Armisen (as Lock), Riki Lindhome (as Shock) and Ken Page (Oogie Boogie). Conductor John Mauceri will lead the full orchestra and choir.
Although the concert was announced last month, the star line-up was just unveiled. “It’s impossible to believe it has been thirty years since Tim Burton made our strange little musical,” Elfman said in September.

Everybody loves a bad boy (or girl), and our favorite television heroes and heroines are no exception.
We love the idea of finding the humanity within the monster, even when the title of "monster" isn't quite so metaphorical.
When these characters see a supernatural hottie with a dark side and a heart of gold, they can't help but fall in love with the monster even if every ounce of their being says to run the other way.
So, here are a few of the scary good monster romances that have given wings to the unexpected over the years.
1. Elena and Damon/Stefan - The Vampire Diaries Vampire romances are some of the most classic forms of monster romance on television. And both Damon as well as Stefan fit the bill of monstrous at one point or another throughout the show. But with those fab abs, we can't quite blame Elena for loving either of them.

There’s a point midway through When Harry Met Sally when the two leads, both unable to sleep, find themselves on the phone. The actual conversation isn’t about much of anything — past relationships, what’s on TV, the ending of Casablanca. But what comes through loud and clear is the connection between them, so easy and comfortable that any fool can see they’re meant to be together.
Apple TV+’s Still Up is a whole series of When Harry Met Sally phone calls, placed between insomniac besties Lisa (Antonia Thomas) and Danny (Craig Roberts). Like their big-screen forebears, they fancy themselves “just mates”; like them, it’s evident to nearly everyone around them, us included, that they’re destined for romance. All that’s missing, alas, is When Harry Met Sally‘s most crucial ingredient: the magical chemistry to make us root for them to get there against all odds.

2020 might have been the year of the time loop movie, but Christopher Smith's 2009 horror film, "Triangle," is one of the best to ever do it. The underseen film has seen a resurgence in popularity as the time loop film as a style of storytelling has expanded beyond classics like "Turn Back The Clock," "The Twilight Zone," and most famously, "Groundhog Day." In "Triangle," a young mother named Jess (Melissa George) is struggling to adjust to raising her autistic son, Tommy (Joshua McIver), on her own. She has a planned day trip on a friend's boat, but strange little coincidences occurring throughout the day start to feel like devastating inevitabilities. As time continues to loop and realities begin to fold in on each other, making sense of the film can feel overwhelming if you're not used to the timey-wimey weirdness of a film like "Triangle."

Dolly Parton’s classic hit “I Will Always Love You” became a huge smash for Whitney Houston, but in a new interview with BBC2 radio she revealed the song’s history with another singer who is arguably even more iconic: Elvis Presley.
According to Parton, after Presley’s divorce from wife Priscilla Presley had been finalized, as the exes were walking down the steps of the courthouse, he sang the song to her.
“See, Elvis loved the song.”
In fact, she revealed, Presley loved the song so much that he was eager to record it — until his manager, Colonel Tom Parker, stepped in and kiboshed that plan.
“See, Elvis loved the song,” Parton explained.

A subtle recut of the original film brings the central couple to the fore in this London-based slice of life as the young lovers struggle to find themselves
The writer-director Kanchi Wichmann’s keen-eyed portrait of a doomed lesbian couple stagnating amid the sex, drugs and indie rock of early 21st century east London felt strikingly fresh when it was released 12 years ago. Now, it has acquired the pleasing whiff of a period piece. Most of the characters carry mobile phones, but no one spends their time staring at them, and the soundtrack features the itchy pop squiggles of Micachu and the Shapes several years before frontperson Mica Levi emerged as cinema’s most gifted new composer on Under the Skin, Jackie and Monos.
Subtly recut to bring the central relationship further into the foreground, the new version looks even more distinctive, not to say unflinching. Musicians Liza (Kat Redstone...

Mad Men, Season 7: Episode 12 – “Lost Horizon”
Written by Semi Chellas and Matthew Weiner
Directed by Phil Abraham
Airs Sunday nights at 10 on AMC
Following last week’s “Time & Life,” which featured what will certainly be the final classic Mad Men shakeup of business, Matthew Weiner’s characters find themselves adapting (or failing to adapt) to their new lives at McCann Erickson. Don, Peggy, Roger and Joan have all been points of both contrast and comparison to one another in the span of the series’ run, but “Lost Horizon” highlights the core of their individual developments. What, after all this time, have these people learned? How have their values changed, if at all? Was the success illusory or real and tangible? And how is that success defined–simply with a dollar amount?
What is likely Joan’s thematic conclusion here is as unfortunate as was being foreshadowed in these final episodes.

The Hub Network's kid-friendly frightfest "Spooksville" is heading into its spine-tingling mid-season finale on December 21st so before it takes off for the year, we sat down with three of its young stars, Katie Douglas, Nick Purcha, and Keean Johnson, for a Q&A.
Katie Douglas - "Sally Wilcox"
Q: What kind of response have you gotten from the show so far?
A: On social networking Sally’s quite a hit with the younger girls I noticed. They like her wardrobe, and the show is actually number two on the Hub Network, which is absolutely amazing.
Q: So tell me a little bit about what you thought when you first heard about the show, about doing something scary like this.
A: When I first heard about the audition, I read the description that it used to be a book so I looked everywhere for print copies, but I actually didn’t get to find it.

“It All Comes Back to Haunt Them” is the tagline for the upcoming fourth season of the completely excellent Being Human, which premieres on Syfy next month. To help remind us of what it is that’s coming back to haunt them, we have three TV spots, one for each character except Josh. Why no Josh? My guess is it’s either because they just haven’t posted that one yet, or because each spot is narrated by the character, and right now Josh’s voice comes out as a howl.

We've been posting five fun facts about our favorite festive flicks leading up to Christmas ... and here's the perfect one for Christmas Eve.Today's featured film is Tim Burton and director Henry Selick's 1993 stop-motion classic, "The Nightmare Before Christmas!"1. Burton originally wrote "The Nightmare Before Christmas" as a poem in 1983 -- with Jack Skellington, his trusty dog Zero and Santa Claws as the only characters specifically named. Lock, Shock and Barrel are alluded to, and Jack's holiday toys (the vampire teddy bears, monster wreaths) are mentioned. Listen to Christopher Lee read it below:2. Chris Sarandon provided the talking voice for Jack, but apparently his singing voice was awful. Composer Danny Elfman is who you're actually listening to anytime the Pumpkin King breaks into song.3. The movie took almost three years to finish due to the slowness of stop-motion, with the crew averaging 60-70 seconds of footage a week. Hundreds...

The Sundance buzz rarely translates outside of Park City. It may feel like the best the year has to offer in film, and when you walk out of certain movies, you may even have the sense that it's going to take the world by storm, that a few of them might part the red sea of Hollywood formula, that America will finally stand up and take notice of something creative and original and bold.

It's hard to believe that it's been a whopping 15 years since Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas was released. The Buttercup-stealing Humperdink, or Chris Sarandon as Jack Skellington, Catherine O'Hara as Sally, plus a little bit of PeeWee and the wacky Greg Proops -- the days before Johnny and Helena were in everything Burtonesque.
In commemoration of the anniversary, the Collector's Edition DVD hits shelves next week, but to whet our hungry appetites, ShockTillYouDrop has got three clips from the new disc. Check out how they made the Haunted Mansion as a holiday tour led by Jack, the process of shooting the film, and finally, Tim Burton's original poem of The Nightmare Before Christmas, all funky and animated.
It's looking to be one heck of a great re-release. From seeing how Jack's version of the Haunted Mansion played out,...
