When New York City’s Blt Gallery decided it wanted to showcase exceptional, old-fashioned talent in an otherwise digital world, photographer Steve Pyke, who shoots often for Vanity Fair, immediately came to mind. “We wanted to counter the current fad of art photography, with all of its gimmicks and computer manipulations,” says Catherine Secor, an associate dealer at the gallery. So Blt approached both Pyke and Gerald Dearing (brother of V.F. contributing photographer Patrick Demarchelier), asking for direct, honest photography.
