“We’re gonna make something great”: Legend of Zelda Movie Gets a Mother of All Updates from Director
Without a doubt, The Legend of Zelda video game franchise is one of the most popular and oldest action-adventure game franchises in the gaming industry. In recent years, we’ve seen various video game franchises getting live-action adaptations in the form of movies or TV shows. The Legend of Zelda will get a similar treatment as director Wes Ball is currently working on a live-action film based on the franchise.

Last year, it was reported that Nintendo was developing a live-action Legend of Zelda film with Sony Pictures, and shortly after that Ball was revealed to be attached to the project.
The expectations are quite high, particularly because one of the video game series’ original creators, Shigeru Miyamoto, will oversee the project as one of the producers. Ball recently gave fans an update on the movie, leaving the fandom wild.

If you wondered what Colin Trevorrow was doing post his Jurassic trilogy, the answer probably isn’t what you expected. His next project is a script he’s penned with World collaborator Derek Connolly, plus British comedy duo The Pin, aka Ben Ashenden and Alexander Owen (who made brief appearances in Jurassic World Dominion) – a starry comedy titled Deep Cover. And as far as it looks, there isn’t a dinosaur in sight.
The film revolves around a trio of improv actors who take part in police stings, catching out unaware criminals – but soon they get sucked into London’s criminal underworld thanks to the power of pure persuasion. Those three yes-anders will be played by Bryce Dallas Howard, Orlando Bloom, and Ted Lasso’s Nick Mohammed – and they’ll be joined in the cast by Sean Bean, Ian McShane, Paddy Considine, and Sonoya Mizuno. That’s a seriously stacked cast.

A long time ago, in a movie theater not too far away… a series of films came out that captured the imagination of movie fans everywhere. The Star Wars franchise has been a giant among the most loved movies ever made. The original trilogy has been held up as sacred. When it came time for the Prequels, original fans were a little let down, but young fans embraced them. They have finally aged into their place in Star Wars canon.
When Lucasfilm was sold to Disney for a staggering $4.5 billion, fans knew it was only a matter of time before we finally got some films with some of our favorite characters returning to the big screen. The first two divided audiences, but the third may have been the one that really made fans wonder what was happening behind the scenes. There didn’t seem to be a plan for the new films,...

As soon as news hit in November that Nintendo and Sony Pictures were joining forces for a live-action movie based on the The Legend of Zelda video games, many fans started to predict the the studios had the next “Lord of the Rings” on their hands. Not so fast. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, the film’s director Wes Ball said he’s long envisioned a Zelda movie not as a “Rings”-like epic but as a live-action Hayao Miyazaki movie.
Ball said his vision for the live-action Zelda movie is “this awesome fantasy-adventure movie that isn’t like ‘Lord of the Rings,’ it’s its own thing. I’ve always said, I would love to see a live-action Miyazaki. That wonder and whimsy that he brings to things, I would love to see something like that.”
“It’s going to be awesome,” Ball continued. “My whole life has led up to this moment.

Video game fans got a huge surprise when Nintendo announced Nov. 7 that it is developing a live-action film based on The Legend of Zelda alongside Sony Pictures. The film is being directed by Wes Ball, best known for helming three “Maze Runner” movies. He’s also set to relaunch the “Planet of the Apes” franchise after a seven-year hiatus with next year’s “Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes.”
While Ball’s hiring might’ve come as a surprise to some, Zelda fans quickly discovered one of the director’s tweets from 13 years ago in which he posted about how his dream of one day directing a Zelda movie would most likely never happen.
“Since I could never even hope to have the chance to direct it…the next big mo-cap ‘Avatar’-like movie should be…The Legend Of Zelda,” Ball posted on Jan. 29, 2010. Flash forward over 13 years later,...

Blonde has been “honored” with two Golden Raspberry Awards — aka the Razzies — which also bestowed an award upon themselves for the first time in the group’s history.

Awards season is upon us, and while Hollywood is honoring 2022’s best films and performances, the Razzie Awards shine a light on the “worst” movies and actors of the year.
Leading the field is Andrew Dominik’s controversial Marilyn Monroe biopic “Blonde,” with eight nominations. While Ana de Armas is not up for worst actress, the film is nominated for worst picture and Dominik for worst director and screenplay. Evan Williams and Xavier Samuel are also both competing for worst supporting actor alongside Mod Sun and Pete Davidson for “Good Mourning” and Oscar winner Tom Hanks for “Elvis.”
Hanks is also in the worst actor race for his turn as Geppetto in Disney’s live-action “Pinocchio.” Filling out the worst actor race are Colson Baker, Davidson (for a voice role in “Marmaduke”), Sylvester Stallone (“Samaritan”) and Jared Leto (“Morbius.”)

Andrew Dominik’s controversial Marilyn Monroe biopic Blonde landed eight nominations from this year’s Razzie Awards, including Worst Picture.
Announcing the film’s Razzies haul, the organization described the biopic as a film that “explores the exploitation of Marilyn Monroe…by continuing to exploit her posthumously.” Dominik also picked up Worst Screenplay and Director nominations.
Rapper Machine Gun Kelly’s stoner comedy Good Mourning trails Blonde with seven nominations. The Razzies called the flick a “laugh-free stoner comedy achieving the rare feat of scoring a perfect Zero on Rotten Tomatoes.” Kelly, who shares co-writing and screenplay credits with Mod Sun, racked up four noms, including worst actor.

Razzie Awards: ‘Blonde’ Leads Noms With Eight; Tom Hanks Lands Two Mentions for ‘Pinocchio,’ ‘Elvis’
The Golden Raspberry Awards — aka the Razzies — have bestowed Blonde with eight nominations, including worst picture, in their annual picks for the worst films and performances of the year.
In their announcement, Razzie organizers said the movie “‘explores’ the exploitation of Marilyn Monroe…by continuing to exploit her posthumously.” Blonde also landed noms for worst screenplay and worst director for Andrew Dominik, “whose work here says more about him than it does about his subject,” the Razzies said.
Also landing multiple noms are Tom Hanks and Pete Davidson, who are both up for worst actor and worst supporting actor. Hanks was cited for his portrayal of Gepetto in Disney’s Pinocchio and his “latex-laden, ludicrously accented portrayal of Col. Tom Parker in the otherwise critically acclaimed Elvis,” while Davidson was singled out for his voice role in Marmaduke and his cameo in Good Mourning.

If you thought the Razzie Awards learned a lesson last year about bullying, decency and humanity when they graciously rescinded an “award” they’d given to Bruce Willis due to his failing health, you’d be dead wrong. This year’s Golden Raspberry “honorees” include a 12-year-old girl (wait — how is that okay?) in Worst Actress, Ryan Kiera Armstrong (“Firestarter”). Also recognized is movie star Tom Hanks in Worst Actor (“Disney’s Pinocchio”) and Worst Supporting Actor (“Elvis”) — he of course is a two-time Oscar winner for “Philadelphia” (1993) and “Forrest Gump” (1994). Scroll down to see all of the 2023 Razzie Awards nominations.

Rumors of a live-action Metal Gear Solid movie adaptation have been floating around almost as long as the franchise itself. Every year brings with it new rumors as well as new doubts that this Moby Dick of video game adaptations will ever actually happen. Still, what is a pipe dream to some is a guarantee for others, especially those with a vested interest in a Metal Gear film. And no, we’re not talking about Konami.
In 2020, Deadline reported that Oscar Isaac, who you’ve seen most recently as the MCU’s Moon Knight and Duke Leto Atreides in Dune, had signed on to play Solid Snake in an upcoming Metal Gear Solid adaptation. But not only did the movie have its star, it also had a director: Jordan Vogt-Roberts (Kong: Skull Island) who has been outspoken about his desire to finally bring Hideo Kojima’s dystopian action game to the big screen.

Much like life, this post finds a way ... to discuss major spoilers for "Jurassic World Dominion," that is.
Well, you can't say director Colin Trevorrow and writer Emily Carmichael (with a "story by" credit from Derek Connolly) didn't do everything in their power to end the dino-themed trilogy on a high note with "Jurassic World Dominion." The original trio of Alan Grant (Sam Neill), Ellie Satler (Laura Dern), and Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum) make their triumphant returns, the plot takes both new and old characters on a globetrotting adventure far bigger in scope than the previous two films, and the dinosaurs are badder than ever — as Malcolm bemoans...

“Jurassic World Dominion,” the third film in the rebooted “Jurassic” franchise of movies led by Chris Pratt, made 18 million at the box office Thursday in its initial preview showings that began at 4 p.m. from 4,150 screens. It opens on 4,676 screens this weekend.
“Dominion” is projected for a T-Rex size 125+ million opening weekend, though it will be interesting to see how the film performs as “Top Gun: Maverick” enters into its third week after staying strong since its Memorial Day opening.
And a start of 125 million would in fact be below the performance of its predecessor, “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom,” which opened to 148 million in June 2018. For comparison though, “Dominion” beat out “Fallen Kingdom” in its first round of showings, which made only 15.3 million in its preview showings. For another comparison, two weeks earlier, “Top Gun: Maverick” made 19.2 million in its Thursday previews that also began early in the afternoon at 3 p.

Prehistoric DNA is used to revive extinct species for the purpose of thrilling audiences… is that a Michael Crichton plot or a commentary on the state of cinema? Either way, audiences aren’t complaining. The past two weeks have been dominated by the sequel to 1986’s biggest hit, Top Gun, and now we are moving on to the fifth sequel to 1993’s biggest hit as Jurassic World Dominion roars into theaters. It is the third mega-movie of the summer, though as of now the two tentpole releases have been holding up a tent with little inside of it, with no major releases in the two weeks following Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness or in the week following Top Gun: Maverick. The good news is that from this weekend onwards the summer is packed with big films nearly every week, though the quantity of titles in the slate is still lower than pre-pandemic levels.

While the early days of the Covid-19 pandemic disrupted many parts of Hollywood’s movie-making apparatus, from closed theaters to delayed (or even outright canceled) productions, a number of much-hyped blockbusters forged right ahead. One of the biggies: Colin Trevorrow’s “Jurassic World: Dominion,” which endured both production delays and rejiggered release dates, and now finally arrives in theaters more than a year after its original release date.
As Trevorrow’s trilogy-capper readies for a massive theatrical release, the filmmaker admits to being both pleased for this film, and a little worried about the theatrical landscape in general. For a guy who got his start with a popular indie feature that debuted at Sundance and rocketed him to stardom, those concerns seem both well-founded and very personal indeed.
“Universal really wanted to make sure that we held the movie for the moment that theaters came back, and we did,” Trevorrow...

The triceratops was my favorite dinosaur growing up. I’m not sure why exactly, but I think it had something to do with the horns and the hard plate. He was scrappy and could fight back against the predators. I wasn’t the first to think this either. Due to the same bias, Steven Spielberg switched out a stegosaurus in the Jurassic Park novel with a triceratops for a pivotal scene onscreen. When Sam Neill puts his head against a magnificent animatronic creation and admits “she was my favorite as a kid,” Spielberg wanted that creature to have three horns recreated by human hand.
Thirty years later, there are precious few flashes of that same, simple childhood wonder in this long in the tooth franchise. Early in Jurassic World Dominion, Bryce Dallas Howard’s Claire Dearing rescues a baby triceratops from the cruelties of man when she stumbles upon one in a cage.

The sprawling “Jurassic Park” film franchise never flinched at bringing back the beloved legacy characters that made Steven Spielberg’s 1993 smash hit such an unexpectedly human story. Jeff Goldblum and Richard Attenborough notably returned for “The Lost World” in 1997, while Sam Neill was back on the case in 2001’s “Jurassic Park III” (with a quick appearance from Laura Dern). And while the “Jurassic World” series spent nearly two entire films — save for one key Goldblum cameo at the end of “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom” — focusing on new characters, the core group that started the dino-tastic adventure has always loomed large.
In Colin Trevorrow’s “Jurassic World: Dominion,” they finally take center stage thanks to a grand reunion that sees Trevorrow’s “Jurassic World” stars (including Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard) thrown into a complex new story that requires the assistance of no less than Dr. Ian Malcolm (Goldblum), Dr.

In a recent interview with Empire magazine, Jurassic World Dominion helmer Colin Trevorrow teased the emergence of a new dinosaur called the Giganotosaurus in the upcoming film, likening it to a classic DC villain.
“I wanted something that felt like the Joker,” Trevorrow said of the dinosaur from the Late Cretaceous period, otherwise known as the Giga. “It just wants to watch the world burn.”
Trevorrow added that the Giga hails from BioSyn Valley. BioSyn, if you’ll recall, is the company that stole InGen’s dinosaur embryos in the original film, and will play a major role in the new film, as well. “BioSyn got the contract to house the dinosaurs that have been captured around the world via various governments,” explained Trevorrow. “They claim it’s a research facility where they can study the pharmaceutical values of the animals. But there’s some other stuff going on.”

In a new story for Empire fans got their first look at the franchise’s latest monster, the Giganotosaurus. Unlike previous “Jurassic World” creatures, the Giganotosaurus was a real dinosaur that once existed, not a genetically modified science fiction creature.
