Well, things are getting serious with The Morningside Monster movie. We’ve just learned that Amber Chaney (remember her from The Walking Dead) and Nicholas Brendon (Buffy the Vampire Slayer is probably the first association) have both joined the cast of Chris Ethridge‘s upcoming horror thriller. In a world that is swamped with book-to-movie adaptations, one must wonder if the latest one will be as good as the book. When it comes to The Hunger Games, simply put, it is the most faithful adaptation one has ever seen. Lionsgate included fan sites in the World Premiere of The Hunger Games. Representatives from various sites flocked to Los Angeles to partake in the festivities surrounding their favorite series. After spending a day with campers and meeting the cast at 'The Hob,' fans were pleased to get dressed up in our premiere day best, and head back to The Nokia theatre to partake in the festivities. We made our way to Will Call to wait and pick up our tickets. As we stood there waiting, Sam Tan and Ethan Jamieson, tributes in the movie walked up. They were kind enough to stop and sign autographs for fans.

If you’re scratching your head over that last part of the headline: We’ve heard from various sources that The Hunger Games will in fact run for a tiring 142 minutes. Hey, if they’ve got a lot of story to tell…
Discounting this bizarre facet, the past week or so has found yours truly changing his tune on The Hunger Games, with there even being a small leap from “complete and total lack of interest” to “a smidge interest on account of good buzz.” Such minor feelings of affection are more or less sustained by Lionsgate’s new clip, in which Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) takes up a bow & arrow (in what others describe as a training process for the titular competition) and shows off some skills to the Capitol brass by way of an unlucky apple.
Although it’s ever-so-brief, I’m certainly more impressed with the tone and...

A brand new trailer has been released via Yahoo! Movies for the highly anticipated big screen adaptation of The Hunger Games directed by Gary Ross.
Every year in the ruins of what was once North America, the evil Capitol of the nation of Panem forces each of its twelve districts to send a teenage boy and girl to compete in the Hunger Games. A twisted punishment for a past uprising and an ongoing government intimidation tactic, The Hunger Games are a nationally televised event in which “Tributes” must fight with one another until one survivor remains.
Pitted against highly-trained Tributes who have prepared for these Games their entire lives, Katniss is forced to rely upon her sharp instincts as well as the mentorship of drunken former victor Haymitch Abernathy. If she’s ever to return home to District 12, Katniss must make impossible choices in the arena that weigh survival against humanity and life against love.

Following the announcement that it would get a one-week run in IMAX, Lionsgate has a new, quick tease at The Hunger Games. The latest trailer for Gary Ross‘ adaptation of Suzanne Collins‘ bestseller goes beyond just the set-up of the first one, showing Jennifer Lawrence getting in more treacherous situations and surroundings. I’m still not sold here, but some of the location design is appealing, including a futuristic train shot by what looks to be a dam. Fans should be pleased though and can see it below via Yahoo for the film also starring Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Wes Bentley and Elizabeth Banks.

Combining this latest poster and a new picture from EW, the anticipation for Gary Ross‘ The Hunger Games has been at a fever pitch for what seems like forever now, and with the movie nearing its release date, Lionsgate is continuing to release more promotional materials. The first theatrical trailer has been released for The Hunger Games, directed by Gary Ross.
“The Hunger Games” chronicles a dystopic Capitol which requires its twelve subjugated districts to pay tribute in the form of a teenage boy and girl, forced to participate in the annual “Hunger Games,” a fight-to-the-death live televised event. Katniss Everdeen’s little sister is chosen in the lottery to participate and Katniss volunteers to take her place. We saw the awesome motion poster for The Hunger Games yesterday, but not everyone likes their promos to have animation and crackling fireplace sounds so a new, and completely static, poster for the movie was recently released on the Hunger Games Facebook page.
While the new poster looks just like the end result of the motion poster, this one is a great addition for fans because this one can be saved to your computer, used as a desktop, and all sorts of other cool things; try doing any of that with a Flash animation.
The latest news on the adaptation of Suzanne Collins’ bestselling dystopian Ya novel hasn’t all been about movie posters though. In addition to learning the three books would be turned into four movies, we also found out that Danny Elfman and T Bone Burnett would be handling the soundtrack side of things, and Lenny Kravitz...

There’s been tons of news about The Hunger Games rolling our way, from the additions of Donald Sutherland and Amber Chaney to the three books being turned into four movies, but one piece of vital info had been lacking… until now.
Let’s face it; one of the great things that separate movies from real life is the fact that real life doesn’t come with a soundtrack. Thankfully, the latest from IndieWire reveals that there might be some awesome sounds for The Hunger Games because Danny Elfman is teaming up with T. Bone Burnett to compose the music for the Ya adaptation.
Elfman has been the music composer for movies ranging from Beetlejuice to The Next Three Days and Burnett has his name stamped on Crazy Heart and Walk the Line, so the collaboration should provide an awesome atmosphere as Katniss navigates the various perils of the Games.

The Hunger Games casting continues with the addition of Tim Taylor (Possum Walk, Archaic Redemption), who joins the already incredibly huge cast as the Gamekeeper in the story. The Gamekeeper is described as the computer techs that control the action during the games.
The movie is being directed by Gary Ross, and I'm very much looking forward to seeing some of the first footage of the film, which I hope happens at Comic-Con.
The Hunger Games takes place in the futuristic ruins of North America, which crumbled and was replaced by a Capitol and 12 districts. Each district is forced to supply 2 teenagers, between 12 and 18. They participate in The Hunger Games, a televised reality series that pits the contestants against one another in a battle to the death. The heroine is 16-year old Katniss Everdeen, a skilled hunter who’s adept with a bow and arrow. She replaces her younger sister,...

President Snow has been found! No, he was never missing, but until now the sinister leader of Panem was not cast in The Hunger Games movie. Now, Collider reports veteran actor Donald Sutherland has won the role. What a fantastic pick! These casting directors really know the game!
What other amazing characters from the Suzanne Collins book have actors? Well, remember the Avox girl who Katniss remembers seeing get captured in the woods? Amber Chaney will play her. She’s got the eyes for it! For those less familiar, an Avox is no better than a Capital slave, rendered mute for crimes.
Lenny Kravitz won the role of Cinna, the trusted stylist for Katniss during the Games.
Latshra Rose will portray Portia, the stylist for Peeta.
We’re sure you know by now what your Katniss Everdeen looks like! Just gawk at her Entertainment Weekly cover for a while!

Just last week, Latarsha Rose, Brooke Bundy, Lenny Kravitz and Toby Jones (Captain America: The First Avenger) all joined the cast of the Gary Ross (Pleasantville) directed big-screen adaptation of the first novel in Suzanne Collins’ best selling trilogy, The Hunger Games.
Now, Lionsgate has announced that Nelson Ascencio (Paul), Kimiko Gelman (CSI: Miami) and Amber Chaney have joined the cast as Flavius, Venia and Avox Girl respectively. Flavius and Venia are a part of Katniss’ prep team run by Cinna (Lenny Kravitz), and Avox Girl is a servant whose tongue was cut out for committing perceived crimes against the Capitol.
The Hunger Games is slated to hit theaters on March 23rd, 2012.

This may well be the end of Hunger Games casting news as President Snow, the last of the remaining major character roles to be filled, has been cast, and not as who you might expect. Yep, rather than any of our cast picks for the vile old man who smells of blood, THR has revealed Donald Sutherland has signed onto play the malevolent tyrant who fuels the fervor for the Hunger Games each year resulting in the brutal national televised murders of 23 adolescents. Personally, I’m saddened by this call but not because I don’t think Sutherland will play an effective and frightening Snow (he surely will), rather just because I love him most when he’s warm. (Pride & Prejudice anyone?) So while he seethes with rage at Katniss (X-Men: First Class’ Jennifer Lawrence) as she unintentionally fuels the fans of rebellion, just know I’ll be whimpering and missing Mr.

Lionsgate has announced that legendary actor Donald Sutherland has joined the cast of Gary Ross' new film The Hunger Games which is currently in production. Sutherland will play President Snow in the film, which is described by the studio as being the "autocratic ruler of Panem and its contained districts for some 25 years at the outset of the story. With a snake-like appearance, he is cruel and ruthless in his intimidation and control tactics." Here's a more detailed description of the characters personality,
A cruel hard man, Snow is firm and strict, and not afraid to torture or kill people who displease him. He wants no one to stand in his way of ruling. He is also cunning as evidenced by his manipulation of Katniss during Catching Fire. In Mockingjay, he even admitted that he was not above killing children to Katniss. Despite all this, he does say that he is not wasteful.

'The Hunger Games' has found its President Snow: Donald Sutherland.
Filming has already begun, with Jennifer Lawrence starring as heroine Katniss, who must fight in the televised battle-to-the-death known as the Hunger Games.
Sutherland joins recent additions Amber Chaney (a newcomer who'll play Avox Girl), Toby Jones (cast as Claudius Templesmith) and Lenny Kravitz (Cinna).
In the film, based on the novel by Suzanne Collins, Snow is the cruel and ruthless ruler of Panem, the post-apocalyptic nation that's emerged after the fall of North America. During his 25-year-reign, he's become known for his cruel intimidation tactics.
He's described in the book as being small and unassuming, a far cry from Sutherland's intimidating 6-foot-4-inch frame, which he's lent to such villainous roles as the general in 'Outbreak,' serial arsonist in 'Backdraft' and deadly spy in 'Eye of the Needle.'

It seems like everyday we are announcing another addition to The Hunger Games, the adaptation of of Suzanne Collins’ bestselling novel. We see no reason to stop a trend, and Lions Gate delivers via their official twitter account, announcing that Amber Chaney has been cast as “Avox girl”, reportedly a small but not minor role directly in play with the star of the film, Jennifer Lawrence (who EW dropped a first look of recently via Lawrence blessing the publication as a cover girl). It is, afterall, hard to have a lot to say when your tongue has been removed. Chaney joins a parade of recent casting announcements that we’ve chronicled for you,the month of May by itself delivering us the news of Stanley Tucci, Wes Bentley, Woody Harrelson, Jacqueline Emerson, Chris Mark and many, many, more, including the latest that of the inclusion of one Lenny Kravitz, who landed the role of Cinna.

When the project was first announced, The Hunger Games, a highly anticipated feature adaptation of the first book in Suzanne Collins' best-selling trilogy of novels, was adapted for the screen by Billy Ray (State of Play, Breach). However, today Lionsgate tweeted a change to the script credits saying, "The current draft of The Hunger Games script was not written by Billy Ray. It is a collaboration between Gary Ross and Suzanne Collins."
This isn't the first script for Ross, the film's director, as he also put pen to paper for such films as Pleasantville, Big and Seabiscuit. For Collins, she's done a little television work in the past, including the teleplay for 2001's Santa, Baby! and more recently five episodes of the Nick Jr. television show "Wow! Wow! Wubbzy!" which is a bit of a 180 when you consider the graphic nature of The Hunger Games.

The names Toby Jones, Amber Chaney, Nelson Ascencio, and Kimiko Gelman may not be all that familiar to you now, but these four actors have joined the ever-expanding cast of The Hunger Games in fairly minor, yet still influential, roles. Read on for who's playing whom!
Pictured below (l-r) are Chaney, Ascencio, and Gelman, who portray, respectively, Avox Girl (a servant for Katniss whose tongue was cut out for committing perceived crimes against the Capitol), Flavius (a part of Cinna's prep team for Katniss - you may remember Lenny Kravitz is Cinna), and Venia (another member of Cinna's prep team). As for Jones, he'll be embodying Claudius Templesmith, the legendary announcer in the arenas of the Games.
These four newbies will be seen onscreen alongside more names than we've ever included in a film roster before: Woody Harrelson, Wes Bentley, Elizabeth Banks, Stanley Tucci, Liam Hemsworth, Paula Malcolmson, Willow Shields,...

Katniss Everdeen can now meet her public.
"The Hunger Games" cast just keeps growing with the addition of Kimiko Gelman and Nelson Ascencio as Venia and Flavius, according to Lionsgate's Twitter page.
Venia and Flavius are members of Katniss' prep team, which means they're responsible for how she looks in public. Following the news that Lenny Kravitz will be playing Katniss' personal stylist, Cinna, it's no surprise that these two image-conscious PR specialists were next to be cast.
Kimiko Gelman had a recurring role on "CSI: Miami" and appeared in Steven Spielberg's "Minority Report" and Albert Brooks' "Mother." Nelson Ascencio recently appeared in "Paul" and is probably most recognizable from "MadTV."
And there's a bit of bonus casting news! The role of the Avox (revealed in later books to be named "Lavinia"), a servant who had her tongue cut out as punishment for defiance, will be played by Amber Chaney.

I'm going to learn to never say that we're doing hearing news about The Hunger Games casting. I figured when they brought on Lenny Kravitz to play Cinna that would be the end of it, especially since production is already underway in North Carolina and every other major role has been cast. But in their ongoing efforts to turn this into a giant event movie Lionsgate continues announcing every single actor as they join the cast in even the most insignificant roles. Today we've got three casting announcements, and to give you a sense of the small potatoes we're dealing with, one of them is for a character who literally never speaks. Thanks to the Lionsgate Twitter feed we've learned that Amber Chaney will play the aforementioned speechless character, the Avox whose tongue has been cut out as punishment and who serves Katniss in her hotel room at the Capitol...

The Hunger Games casting circus continues, but it has to stop at some point. They can't keep adding cast members to this movie forever... or can they? The movie stars a ton of new young actors, most of which are playing nameless kids who go out to hunt down and kill each other for TV entertainment.
The new additions to the cast includes:
Amber Chaney will play Lavinia. She worked as a Capitol servant for Katniss. avinia has dark red hair, striking features, and porcelain white skin. Being an Avox, her tongue was cut out and she is therefore mute. She is also subject to a lifetime of servitude to the Capitol. As an Avox, she is of Panem's lowest social class, even below those from the Seam.
Kimiko Gelman will play Venia. She worked in the prep team on Katniss Everdeen under the lead of the head stylist, Cinna played by Lenny Kravitz.

Peter Jackson has confirmed via Facebook that Orlando Bloom is locked to return as Legolas in "The Hobbit". Here's his posting:
"Ten years ago, Orlando Bloom created an iconic character with his portrayal of Legolas. I'm excited to announce today that we'll be revisiting Middle Earth with him once more. I’m thrilled to be working with Orlando again. Funny thing is, I look older—and he doesn’t! I guess that's why he makes such a wonderful elf."
Meanwhile, Lionsgate has cast young unknown actress Amber Chaney in the role of the Avox girl in Lionsgate’s feature adaptation of "The Hunger Games".

I promise, this is almost over. The Hunger Games casting I mean. When Lionsgate started strategically releasing the cast members who were set to play nameless kids marched to their deaths [1] in a televised battle royal, we debated how to handle it. Eventually we settled on the fact that The Hunger Games is a massive property and it should all be covered. So, once we started, it's kind of our duty to see it through. Finally though, the slow trickle of names is nearing an end. The Hunger Games has begun shooting in North Carolina under the direction of Gary Ross and, in March of next year, we'll finally get to see Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson fight for their lives. I would bet we evensee a trailer of some sort at Comic Con. Only a few key roles have yet to be filled and three of them were just announced.

Lionsgate has announced another addition to the Hunger Games cast via twitter. According to the tweet, Amber Chaney has been cast as Avox girl in the movie adaptation of Suzanne Collins' young adult novel. It seems safe to assume from her headshot that Chaney will be playing the red-haired Avox. While Chaney has had some acting experience and has appeared in a handful of television shows, she isn't as well known as her recently announced cast mate Lenny Kravitz, who will play stylist Cinna.
The Gary Ross directed movie has recently started principal production in North Carolina and stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, and Liam Hemsworth.

Jennifer Lawrence, who will become the Girl on Fire in the upcoming adaptation of The Hunger Games, recently talked with MTV about her intensive training for her role and about the initial backlash of a blonde being cast in a brunette’s role. Lawrence joked, ”I wasn’t aware that everybody was so upset until I after I got my hair dyed, and people were like, ‘Oh my gosh, blond hair can turn brown. Wow. It’s a miracle.’ So now is the only time that I’m being told that people hated me at first.”
