Netflix and Federation Spain, the Spanish division of Paris and L.A.-based Federation Entertainment, are teaming to produce “Las niñas de cristal,” a psychological drama set against the world of classical ballet that toplines “Money Heist” and “Elite” star Maria Pedraza.
The movie is one highlight in Netflix’s first announcement of a production-distribution slate focused entirely on Spanish original movies. The eight titles it profiles that are moving into production or set for release in 2021 and 2022 are a sign of Netflix ramping up its production of Spanish movies as part of its bet on Spanish scripted TV and movies, with Spain punching above its weight in the number of Netflix originals compared to Spanish subscribers. The Netflix slate highlights:

Backed by the Cannes Film Market, Different! is organised by Espagnolas en Paris and the Ile-de-France Film Commission.

A new international thriller toplined by Colombian star Carolina Gaitan (“Celia”) opposite Chile’s Alfredo Castro (“From Afar”) is slated to shoot on location in New York, Malta and Slovakia in October.
Titled “Perfidious,” and with an estimated $13 million budget, the feature debut of Dominican Republic-born Ileana Vasquez boasts an international cast that includes American thesp of Cuban, Mexican and Spanish descent Omar Chagall (“Frida”), Greek “Bond” girl Tonia Sotiropoulou (“Skyfall”), Greek star Alexis Georgoulis, Spain’s Peter Vives (“Velvet”) and British Mma Champion Lee Shone. Dutch actor Rutger Hauer (“Blade Runner”) is circling the project.
The English-language thriller turns on a U.S. Latina political writer whose wealthy Czech fiancé (Vives) is assassinated. In her efforts to investigate the truth behind her beau’s murder, she is caught up in a high-profile political scandal. Castro plays the concierge in her apartment building.

"I can create a parallel reality for you, with other Laura's and other Sandro's." This looks like a very fun sci-fi indie. Below is the official trailer for a time travel sci-fi, romantic comedy film titled Melocotones, which translates to Peaches in Spanish, made/set in the Dominican Republic. The film also used the title Mr. Emmett & The Canned Peaches during production, though Peaches is much simpler. This sci-fi features some lo-fi tech and filmmaking tricks to make it feel more unique, including an appearance by an old 5¼-inch floppy drive. Peaches is about a guy named Diego who uses a time travel machine to try and save his relationship with his girlfriend Laura, but things get even worse when her ex shows up. The cast includes Peter Vives as Diego, Joaquín Ferreira as Sandro, María Guinea as Laura, with Frank Perozo and Ramón Langa. This really looks very cool,...
