In 1976, was inducted into the Beaver County Sports Hall of Fame in the first group inaugurated.
Spent two years in the U.S. Marine Corps.
From 1954 to 1961 played tight end for the Baltimore Colts in the National Football League. In 1957, he led the league in touchdown receptions and was selected to play in the Pro Bowl.
Attended the College of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana, playing for the 1949 national championship football team.
