Aficionados of the anime scene now have a tough choice for the meanest vampire hunter. Before, there was only “D.” These days, the choices are broader. Saya from the anime "Blood and Hellsing" top the charts. But with Marvel Comics’ inclusion, Eric Brooks (better known as Blade), needs to do more before he can chop up the competition.

The English voice actor for Blade is Harold Perrineau ("Lost"). Now set in the backdrop of Asia, this superhero is doing more than just seeking revenge. He’s tracked Deacon Frost, “the four-fanged vampire,” to Japan.

“His Name is Blade”
Anime has never been a big passion of mine even though I do enjoy Manga, especially the alternative gekiga stories. With anime though, there seems to be something that’s lost in the translation for me; perhaps it’s the scenes filled with sparse dialogue and a lack of score. Too much is left in the subtext or some symbolism flies by that I don’t have the proper context to understand. I don’t get that same puzzling feeling with foreign films because at some point I can gather what it is that is hidden or get a sense of it by the end. Anime can just leave you hanging at times. I’ll admit, I may not be intelligent enough to understand anime on first viewings; I don’t always go back with repeat viewings to get that comprehensive feeling. Don’t get me wrong,...

Marvel Vampire Action in Blade Animated G4 Promo
What animated treat features “light-speed action and ambitious storytelling”? Why, it’s Blade. G4, in conjunction with Marvel, has created an all new anime adventure featuring the half-undead hero. This isn’t a movie, vampire hunter fans, it is a Blade series! We have a spell-binding promo just for you, so check it out. Just watch out for the exploding stake.
Blade is, of course, a Marvel super hero known as a Daywalker. He was born as a half human and half vampire because his mother was bitten while pregnant with him. In this new series, Blade will visit Japan and chase after Deacon Frost, the infamous vampire who killed his mother. Blade will also come across a group known only as “Existence”. The vampire members of this group have been “modified” by Frost. That means even more danger than usual for our hero.

Marvel and Madhouse have indeed been busy developing anime versions of Marvel properties such as X-Men, Wolverine, Iron Man, and a marvelous interpretation of Blade. The Blade anime series, takes its inspiration from the Wesley Snipes film trilogy, comic series, as well as the short-lived television series. Mitsuyuki Masuhara (Kobato) directed the anime with Kenta Fukasuka‘s (Battle Royale) script.
In the anime, the story takes Blade to Japan in search of baddie Deacon Frost. Blade teams up with a young vampire hunter woman, Makoto, along with Noah Van Helsing and his canine companion Razor. Sounds like a fierce slaying trinity, don’t it?

From ComicsAlliance: It's been almost two years since the initial announcement of Marvel's 'X-Men,' 'Wolverine,' 'Iron Man' and 'Blade' Madhouse anime projects, but the line will finally come full circle as everybody's favorite vampire slayer's series debuts in Japan on July 1. Animax has launched a new website providing a look at the series' cast of characters, along with a short video teaser.
While the 'Blade' anime hasn't received an official release date in North America or an localized English dub cast, the Japanese staff seems pretty interesting. Directing is Mitsuyuki Masuhara with a script by 'Battle Royale' movie franchise veteran Kenta Fukasuka.
Story details are also fairly sparse, but shoddy online translations of the site's Japanese text make it pretty clear that Blade will be teaming up with a young vampire hunter from Japan, plus Noah Van Helsing (of the Helsings!
