Exclusive: Veteran talent agent Melisa Spamer, who most recently ran Domain Talent, is joining the talent department of Innovative Artists. She will be based at Innovative Artists’ Los Angeles office.
Spamer began her career at Metropolitan Talent Agency before founding Domain Talent in 2005 with former partners Gabrielle Krengel and Joe Vance in 2005. Over the next decade, Domain grew into a top-tier boutique talent agency. After Krengel died in 2015, the agency carried on for several more years. The surviving partners ultimately parted ways after Spamer took Vance to court and obtained sole control of Domain.
“I have always had great respect for Domain and its success as a boutique talent agency ever since Melisa and her associates launched their company more than fifteen years ago” said Innovative Artists president Scott Harris. “Following the unfortunate death of her co-founder Gabrielle, and having successfully resolved her legal differences with her former partner, we...

Talent agent Melisa Spamer’s legal efforts to oust partner Joe Vance from the LLC that operates as Domain Talent has met with court approval, preliminarily.
Four months after Spamer filed suit alleging that surviving partner Vance had once again been engaging in “unlawful activity” and “acts of embezzlement” totaling over $500,000, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Michael Linfield last week officially granted a preliminary injunction against the latter partner.
“The Court concludes that Petitioner has shown a probability of prevailing on the
merits of its claim that Respondent breached his duty of loyalty to Ksv and that Respondent will be dissociated as a result,” said the June 30 minutes of hearing that day in Dtla (read it here.) Listing an extensive timeline and provided evidence, the Lasc judge stated that Spamer’s filings “demonstrates that Respondent likely breached his fiduciary duties to Ksv by embezzling funds, taking clients and employees,...

Talent agent Melisa Spamer, one of two surviving partners at a LLC that operates as Domain Talent, filed a petition today to expel from the company the other, Joe Vance, alleging that the latter had embezzled significant amounts of money over a number of years.
“Respondent’s unlawful activity has resumed with additional acts of embezzlement that Respondent had concealed,” the filing alleges of Vance after a previous dispute of business funds and unauthorized checks was presumed to be settled in 2019 so the duo could keep on working together.
“It is now apparent that Petitioner cannot continue to engage in business with Respondent occupying any role or responsibility that enables him to deal with the moneys of Petitioner or its clients, or any other significant management or financial role or responsibility,” attorney Norman Levine says for his client Spamer in the filing (read it here).
