“I felt good about the first night. I was singing Kelly Clarkson. I’m singing her song in close to her key and it was ‘Wizard of Oz Night’ and I didn’t necessarily pick that song,” reveals Scott Porter while reflecting on his time as Gumball on “The Masked Singer.” “During dress rehearsal that night, I thought I had it all together and I had a panic attack.” Watch our full video interview above.
Despite a rocky start that landed him in a smackdown, Scott was able to survive all the way to the Season 11 finale, where he finished runner-up to Vanessa Hudgens as Goldfish. Although Vanessa had no clue she was competing with her “Bandslam” co-star, Scott recognized her voice instantly.

Peter Berg, the writer/director/actor/producer behind both the film and television versions of Friday Night Lights, has pulled his own son away from the game that he helped so many fall in love with. And the reason why may resonate with Jason Street fans.
In an essay for Time Magazine, Berg wrote about the dangers with head and neck injuries in football, saying: “Head and neck injuries are what parents thinking about letting their children play tackle football should be thinking about, talking about, and demanding answers about, from any coach presenting himself as a worthy custodian for...

A weekly television series following the exploits of Jason Voorhees – how the hell is that supposed to work? The producers appear to have an idea for how to adapt Friday the 13th into a TV show, but I think I might have a few better ideas for how to transform Jason from horror icon to TV star.
The remakes, reboots, reimaginings, sequels, prequels, premakes, adaptations, and spin-offs that rule the big screen are taking over the airwaves like never before.
For horror fans alone "Bates Motel", "Hannibal", "From Dusk Till Dawn", and "Teen Wolf" have been turned into weekly TV shows, and soon "Scream", "Constantine", "12 Monkeys", a series based on the box office stinker Legion, and, yes, "Friday the 13th" will add to the fray.
As was announced recently, a new attempt at transforming Friday the 13th into a weekly hour-long series is in the works. Unlike the name-only late 80s series,...

Scott Porter has expressed uncertainty as to whether a Friday Night Lights movie will ever be made.
Fans of the football-themed drama have called for a big-screen continuation since the series ended in 2011, but star Kyle Chandler has said that a movie would be unnecessary.
Porter – who played star quarterback Jason Street – has now revealed to Parade that he feels some "trepidation" about a potential Friday Night Lights film.
"It's tricky for me because Jason's story ended so well," he explained. "At first, it was a kick in the gut to know that I'd be leaving the show in season three, but once I realised how they allowed Jason to leave the show, I understood."
Porter continued: "Out of every character on that show, you could almost fight to say that Jason won. He won at life and overcame so much. I think his future is pretty set in stone.

If you're inspired by "New Girl" things like triumphs over Chinese restaurant menus and Nick doing roughly five pushups, this is the episode for you. Not only does Nick achieve something (and give an inspirational speech in the process), but even Schmidt comes back into the fold.

There was a super awkward scene in last night’s episode of Survivor: Blood vs. Water where Kat Edorrson — who had been voted out of her tribe and was set to compete in a duel to stay alive at Redemption Island — flat out told her boyfriend Hayden that she wanted him to swap spots with her. Only one problem: Hayden didn’t want to. Therefore, he didn’t. So how did Kat feel about that after she was eliminated? “After the game, I was Pissed!” she told Jessica Shaw and me when she called into Entertainment Weekly Radio (SiriusXM, channel 105) this morning.

Stars from the hit American football drama Friday Night Lights posted a mini-reunion picture on Instagram at the weekend (October 20).
Scott Porter, who played Jason Street in the award-winning show, hosted a "#SundayFunday" at his house and was joined by a host of ex-fnl co-stars.
Gaius Charles (Smash), Zach Gilford (Matt), Matt Lauria (Luke) and Kevin Rankin (Herc) joined Porter for the mini-reunion.
Friday Night Lights ran from October 2006 to February 2011 and told the story of high school football teams situated in Texas.
A movie follow-up has been rumoured since the show ended and cast member Connie Britton has frequently backed calls for the series to be taken back to the big screen.
"I would love it to happen. I'm a big supporter of it happening. I don't know if we will see it or not," said Britton earlier this year.

Jason Street is wearing Crocs! Saracen is looking damn good! Those are just some of the observations we had when we laid eyes on the Friday Night Lights reunion photo that Scott Porter posted over the weekend. But those observations came after we gently pressed our palm to the computer screen and whispered "Texas forever." In the photo Porter is all smiles with former Friday Night Lights costars Matt Lauria (Luke), Gaius Charles (Smash), Zach Gilford (Matt Saracen), and Kevin Rankin (Herc). It brought up all kinds of warm, wonderful feelings and made us sorely miss the NBC drama that gave us things like Coach and Mrs. Coach (Kyle Chandler and Connie Britton), the best sports catch phrase ever and Tim Riggins (Taylor...

Though "Friday Night Lights" ended two and a half years ago (and the rumored movie might not ever happen), we still can't help but get excited whenever we see anything new involving the cast of the little series that defied all odds and captured the hearts of its loyal fanbase.
Star Scott Porter ignited that passion once more when he shared a photo on Instagram on Sunday (Oct. 20) that reunited some of the cast. The photo featured Matt Lauria's Luke Cafferty, Gaius Charles' Smash, Zach Gilford's Matt Saracen, Porter's Jason Street, and Kevin Rankin's Herc. Sure, it’s just one Instagram photo.
But it’s an Instagram photo with Street, Saracen, Smash, Luke, and even Herc, and for any Friday Night Lights fan, that’s enough to get us, well, teary-eyed, broken-hearted and… lost at the sight of our favorite Dillon football players.
Posted by Scott Porter (Jason Street), the photo shows him and his former costars Matt Lauria (Luke), Gaius Charles (Smash), Zach Gilford (Matt Saracen), and Kevin Rankin (Herc) catching a break on #SundayFunday. It’s a small cast gathering, but it almost makes us forget that Fnl isn’t on the fast-track back to the big screen.

Instead of the East Dillon versus West Dillon Panthers, it's Crocs versus Flip-Flops at this mini–Friday Night Lights reunion. (Please check out Saracen and Street's feet.) Coach Taylor was busy with a new squad of young'uns (Oh God, can you imagine?) and Tami Taylor somehow managed to become a famous country singer — so they couldn't make it. Even though some of these Panthers didn't actually play together, it's nice to see the gang (Left to right: Luke Cafferty, Brian "Smash" Williams, Matt Saracen, Jason Street, and Herc) back together. Now get started on those drills.

He also recently had roles in White House Down and the upcoming Dallas Buyers Club, also helmed by Wild director Jean-Marc

Y'all sitting down? The "Friday Night Lights" movie script is in the hands of Mrs. Coach herself, Connie Britton. The current star of "Nashville" said it's only a matter of time that the movie gets made.
"I have the script for a potential movie spin-off of 'Fnl.' I think it’s just a matter of finding a time when everyone can do it," Britton told Ladies' Home Journal.
"Friday Night Lights," which was based on the movie of the same name starring Billy Bob Thorton, aired on NBC and DirecTV from 2006-2011. In the two years since the show ended its five-season run, fans have been clamoring for a continuation of the story of Coach Eric Taylor (Kyle Chandler), his wife Tami Taylor (Britton) and the rest of the Dillon Panthers crew.
In 2012, executive producer Peter Berg said he was almost done with the "Friday Night Lights" movie script.

Scott Porter's days as Jason Street in "Friday Night Lights" might be over, but they aren't far behind him. Even though he's moved on to The CW's "Hart of Dixie," he still is arguably best known for his Dillon, Texas character. Even so, he's not entirely onboard with the idea of a "Friday Night Lights" Kickstarter-funded movie, even though talk of another "Friday Night Lights" movie has been swirling for awhile.
"I think everyone's kind of waiting to see how 'Veronica Mars' fares," he says, referencing the way "Serenity" had a lot of buzz behind it but ultimately didn't do well in theaters. "It is crowd-sourced and funded, so I think if the fans cry out for something enough, they can get it made."

Writer/director Maggie Carey's The To Do List is one of the year's funniest, frankest, most unexpectedly heart-warming films -- and while Aubrey Plaza is a joy to watch, it's Scott Porter who expertly (and seemingly effortlessly) steals the entire film with his inspired performance as Rusty Waters.
Given the chance to bring a comical character to life clearly energized Porter, who uses the opportunity to remind those of us who've forgotten his Broadway work, and cameo in Music & Lyrics, simply how gifted a comedian he is. Turns out, that was exactly the reason he signed on!
I recently sat down with Porter, on his 34th birthday no less, to talk about altering his public professional perception, the appeal of raunchy women and the time he formed a boy band that sang about nothing but bread!

"Friday Night Lights" may have ended before its time, but fans were transported right back to Dillion this weekend at the Atx Television Festival in Austin, Texas, which played host to a cast reunion that brought stars Kyle Chandler and Connie Britton back together to reminisce about the show's stellar run.

Writer/director Maggie Carey's "The To Do List," opening next month, is a comedy concerning a dweeby virgin (Aubrey Plaza, basically a female Max Fischer) who decides to become sexually experienced before leaving for college. Thankfully, it doesn't shy away from the dirtiness of old school sex comedies (informed, somewhat, by its 1993 setting) and the entire movie is a wild, oddly sweet coming-of-age with an emphasis on the coming. For just how raunchy this movie can get, a new red band trailer gives you a good idea.
The movie, which some already seen (and for the most part enjoyed), has a wonderfully breezy, totally "sex positive" outlook, and while its humor uncomfortably approaches maximum levels of gross-out excessiveness, for the most part works really well. Even this red band trailer holds back, though, content to have a lot of F-words and implied nudity do the talking (there isn't any actual nudity in the movie,...

Scott Porter is officially taken! The Hart of Dixie actor said "I do" to girlfriend Kelsey Mayfield in Austin, Texas Saturday in front of family and friends. The couple, who got engaged back in 2012 after dating for four years, met while Porter played quarterback Jason Street on NBC's Friday Night Lights. "We wanted to get married under a Texas sky, and it's going to be kind of a rustic chic wedding—that's the term she throws around," Porter told Us Weekly last year. And rustic chic it was. The groom donned a gray three-piece suit with a pink flower boutonniere, while the bride looked stunning in a classic white lace...

Did someone say a Friday Night Lights reunion? Coach Taylor would be proud. Thursday night Fnl costars Scott Porter and Adrianne Palicki caught up during Palicki's latest film premiere.

"Gotta support the old #FridayNightLights crew! #LadyJaye #DoYoThang! #GIJoeRetaliation," Porter tweeted along with a picture of the two.
Though the two didn't have too many scenes together on the NBC series, we can't help but miss the Tyra and Jason Street days. There needs to be an Fnl movie reunion soon. (Ahem, kickstarter, please make that happen.)
In other news, though we are still painfully depressed about Tyra and Landry (spoiler!) not ending up together, we can't help but still be thankful for this video below.
Texas forever, friends.

Last week’s pilot of NBC’s “Jekyll and Hyde” drama Do No Harm premiered to disastrously low ratings.
Although The Office and the series finale of the beloved 30 Rock would seem like promising lead-ins for any show, audiences apparently unified in switching their TV sets off at 10 p.m.
Do No Harm, starring Steven Pasquale as a bipolar doctor, posted the lowest ratings ever for a broadcast scripted series premiere during the regular season, raking in a 0.9 rating in the key demo. Adding to its list of accomplishments, it was also the least-watched drama in TV history among total viewers, drawing only 3.1 million viewers.
Of course, it had some tough competition, namely CBS’s Elementary and ABC’s Scandal. However, it’s likely the pilot’s performance will bury the series after just one week on the tube.

Yesterday, I spoke with Jaime King about what fans can expect from Hart of Dixie Season 2.
Now, it's time to hear from Scott Porter, as this beloved actor previews George as a bachelor, promises another singing performances and also delves into a couple of his real-life charity endeavors...
Where does tonight's premiere pick up?
The morning after the events on the finale. We needed to deliver on the promise of that episode immediately… to jump ahead, I think, would have been a disservice to the fan base.
So where is George at when we see him again?
He's got a big smile on his face. He thinks he's got a shot with Zoe… but he and Wade very quickly find out about each other.
Jaime King already hinted at George dating around. So is it safe to say Zoe makes up her mind by the end up the episode?

"I would say the entirety of the 'Lord of the Rings' trilogy for me just pops because I read those books when I was 7, 8, 9 years old. I was done with the trilogy by the time I was 9 and I’ve re-read them so many times over the years. That and 'Big Trouble in Little China.'

For NBC comedy enthusiasts, "The To Do List" is basically fanfic come to life. The R-rated indie stars Aubrey Plaza as a recent high school graduate who makes a list of sexual acts she wants to engage in before heading to college. (Hence the title.) That means the "Parks and Recreation" star gets into a variety of compromising positions, including one with "Community" co-star Donald Glover. When worlds collide, etc.
Written and directed by Maggie Carey, "The To Do List" features a cavalcade of beloved stars: Plaza and Glover are joined by Alia Shawkat (Maeby!), Rachel Bilson, Andy Samberg, Scott Porter (Jason Street!), Connie Britton (Mrs. Coach!), Clark Gregg, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Johnny Simmons, Sarah Steele and Bill Hader, Carey's real-life husband. This marks Carey's second collaboration with Plaza; the director created the hilarious web series "The Jeannie Tate Show," which featured Plaza as a sullen teenager.

George Tucker (Scott Porter) is ready to put up a fight for Dr. Zoe Hart (Rachel Bilson), but he may end up falling into some alone time on Season 2 of "Hart of Dixie."
Porter chatted with Zap2It on Sunday (July 29) at the TCA press tour about George's fate and what else fans can expect for The CW series' second season.
The Season 2 premiere picks up the morning after George and Lemon Vreeland's (Jaime King) almost-wedding, and things are definitely in a state of unrest -- particularly for George.
"You, at first, see him very focused and driven in forging ahead with life and thinking that his life is gonna be with Zoe, then very quickly finding out that that might not be the case," Porter says. "You're gonna see George lose a little bit of control, maybe spiral a bit, get a little scruffier, edgier, underdog-like George Tucker."

Looks like a Texas (forever) wedding is on the way!
Reports are stating that actor Scott Porter is ready to say some nuptials come next April! He and now fiancé Kelsey Mayfield first met on the set of Friday Night Lights where sparks instantly flew and he later proposed in January after dating for four years.
Porter, who played Jason Street on Friday Night Lights, told Us Weekly about the wedding plans at the Wikipad and Nvidia cocktail party in Los Angeles. "We're going to get married next April and we're going to get married back where we met in Austin, Texas," he explained.
Porter, 32, is being a supportive fiancé and helping out the best he can with the wedding. "She's got the whole thing in her head and I trust her explicitly," he said. "I've got my opinions on things, but I just want to let her do her thing.

There's Avenue Q, Sunset Boulevard, "The Street Where You Live," "Life is a Highway," Abbey Road, and Jason Street. And those are all great! But none of those thoroughfares can hold a candle to the Lanes. There are characters named Lane, characters who live on lanes, and lanes that represent an era, a romance, or a place for the Muffin Man to live. These are the greatest Lanes in pop culture.

Forget Texas, Tim Riggins — Barsoom forever!
Yes, I know that's not Riggs hopping around all over "John Carter." But watching the sci-fi movie at a screening earlier this week, I couldn't help but imagine how amazing it would be if Taylor Kitsch wasn't playing a space-bound Civil War veteran, but his fan-favorite "Friday Night Lights" character instead. As with most other "Fnl" fans, I'm missing the days of Dillon football so badly, that I'd pay money to see any and all of these Texans embark on their own interstellar adventures, Riggins especially. Mars needs moms? Eff that. Mars needs #33!
Anyway, this notion of "'Friday Night Lights' in space" stirred something very, very weird in the minds of Hollywood Crush editor Amy Wilkinson, Movies Blog assistant editor Kevin P. Sullivan and myself: what if the "Fnl" cast left Dillon forever and headed out to the endless lights of space?...

It's that stressful time of the year again, as viewers await the fate of shows planted firmly on the dreaded bubble.
In this edition of the TV Fanatic Round Table, our staff gathers around and makes a plea to various networks, answering the same question we ask of readers down below: Which Bubble Show Do You Most Want To See Saved?
Matt Richenthal: I stay up at night praying that the bubble on Community does not go pop, pop.
Jim Garner: My vote is for Hart of Dixie and Whitney. I enjoy both of these very much.
Carissa Pavlica: Fringe. Fringe. Fringe. It's smart, fast-paced and the acting is incredible. If ever a show deserved to be saved (a la Friday Night Lights and Damages), it is Fringe. But, please, not on DirectTV, as I have Dish Network!!
Leigh Raines: Hart of Dixie. Not only do I have the pleasure...

That's two Dillon Panthers off the market.
"Hart of Dixie" star Scott Porter -- perhaps better known as "Friday Night Lights'" wounded quarterback Jason Street -- has officially put a ring on it. Us reports that Porter proposed to Kelsey Mayfield, his girlfriend of four years, last month. Spoiler alert: She said yes!
"It was during a trip to NYC. They're living together in Los Angeles," a source says. Mayfield currently works as a casting director for ABC's daytime talk show "The Revolution." She and Porter met on the set of "Friday Night Lights."
"Kelsey thought Scott was a stunt guy on 'Friday Night Lights' because she cheered at The University of Texas and bunch of former Ut football players and mutual friends were the stunt team. It wasn't till a month later she discovered he was an actor on the show," the source says.

Scott Porter first garnered attention as Jason Street in the critically acclaimed TV series "Friday Night Lights."
Since then, he's racked up an impressive amount of credits with stints on "The Good Wife," the now-defunct "Caprica" and the "X-Men" cartoon (not to mention feature films "Prom Night," "Speed Racer," "Dear John" and the upcoming "The To Do List," to name a few). Currently, Porter is charming viewers as George Tucker on The CW's "Hart of Dixie" and he spoke exclusively to HuffPost TV about who he wants his character to end up with, breaking one of his only rules, superheroes and Taylor Kitsch.
With all the bad boys on The CW, what appealed to you about playing good guy George on "Hart of Dixie"?

Hart of Dixie returns tonight at 9 pm on the CW. Zap2it has a new interview with Scott Porter. He talks about football and wanting Tim Tebow to play his brother on the show. Snippet:
On Friday, Jan. 20, between takes at the exterior set for the Rammer Jammer Restaurant on the Warner Bros. lot in Burbank, Calif., Porter laughs when he's asked if it's a cruel irony that his character's girl has her eye on a football player -- mirroring the situation on his earlier show, "Friday Night Lights," in which the fiancee of his character, paralyzed former top high-school quarterback Jason Street, cheated on him with his best friend and former Dillon Panthers teammate, Tim Riggins (Taylor Kitsch).
"It is!" he says. "At least it's not another best-friend fullback, taking my girl."

College bowl season is nearly upon us, and as such we will all be treated to approximately fifteen months of bowl games starting this Saturday. I personally love college football, but unfortunately most of my friends don't happen to share my same passion for the sport. Regardless, I've still dragged them to various bars around the city to indulge in my favorite pastime this Fall. A few weeks ago, I was watching the Texas game with one of my non-football savvy friends and he began to tell me how he had begun watching Friday Night Lights on Netflix and loved the show. Having followed the show since it first began airing, I shared his interest, and we talked Fnl (which is what those in the know call Friday Night Lights, probably) in length before I noticed that Texas had switched out their quarterback, causing me to shriek with excitement and anticipation.

Poor George Tucker. No matter what you tell Lemon while recovering from a crossbow injury and, heck, no matter what you tell yourself, "The Crush and the Crossbow" made one thing clear: you are not just fine.
Far from it, in fact, as the best Hart of Dixie episode of the season gave Team George members plenty of reason to cheer. It also opened Zoe up a bit. Everyone loves Rachel Bilson's doctor, but she's mostly served as a source for New York snark over the last few weeks.
Here, inspired by the notion that her life is on pause, Zoe leaped out of her shell and gave us a glimpse into the vulnerable woman that her ex of six years scarcely ever saw. Like Addie's take on conversation during an ideal first date, this hour simply flowed. Among the highlights:
Zoe's flashcards. Why are you on death row?...

Turn up the A.C. and pour yourself a glass of something cold, because a heat wave is hitting "Hart of Dixie" tonight at 9 p.m. Est on The CW. Series star Scott Porter stopped by our offices after serenading Los Angeles on Ktla Monday morning to give us the scoop on the super-steamy episode.
He got to the point quickly: "All the guys take their shirts off." It's true, Dixie fans -- we've seen the episode, and let's just say that the wardrobe department must have had a lot of free time that week.
Of course, being the town's well-respected lawyer and all-around voice of reason, Scott's character George eventually buttons up. "He tries not to lose control," Scott says. "I think it's coming down the pike at some point; he's going to have some huge shake-ups in his life at one time or another. You'll see him get frustrated here and there.

Don’t hate Scott Porter because he’s beautiful, hate him because his “job” involves pretending to be in love with both Rachel Bilson and Jaime King on the hit new CW series Hart Of Dixie. As George Tucker, the man caught between his feelings for his life-long friend and fiancée Lemon Breeland (King) and the adorable and alluring newcomer that is Dr. Zoe Hart (Bilson), Porter has his hands full. Or at least that was our takeaway from our recent one-on-one with the former Friday Night Lights star who was kind enough to take a few minutes to chat up what life is like in the fictional, fantastical and awfully flirty town of Bluebell Alabama.
Aside from the adorable Rachel Bilson, what was it that initially attracted you to Hart Of Dixie?
Scott Porter: I came from the world of musical theater and comedies and in Hollywood it...

Scott Porter isn't just a TV star – he's also a member of the X-Men.
But don't worry. You didn't miss the "Friday Night Lights" and "Hart of Dixie" star looming in the background in "X-Men: First Class" this summer. Instead, he's flexing his superhero muscles through his vocal chords in the new "X-Men Destiny" videogame that came out this week for Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and Wii.
In the game, he'll be introducing fans to a new mutant, Adrian Luca, who must make the age-old choice between joining up with the X-Men or helping to destroy the world with the Brotherhood of Mutants.
Thankfully, Porter's real-life choices aren't quite as epic. In fact, as the guy told us during San Diego Comic-Con, he's actually kinda funny.
So what was it like finally getting to be a superhero, or at least having your voice be one?
It was incredible bringing Adrian to life.
