• Tina Fey is in early development on a “supernatural-themed feature” with Disney known as the Untitled Witch Project, but it is decidedly not a Hocus Pocus sequel (as was the rumor early Wednesday). According to the report, the project will be in the vein of Ghostbusters, and Fey will star and produce. Next up for Fey is the Jonathan Tropper adaptation This is Where I Leave You, out Sept. 19. She’s currently filming the comedy The Nest, alongside Amy Poehler. [Deadline]

Paris – French telecom Orange's Paris-based film subsidiary Studio 37 will decorate movie theaters across the globe with its colorful feature film lineup including new 3D animation project "Mune," Gilles Pacquet-Brenner's "Elle s'Appelait Sarah" starring Kirstin Scott Thomas and Samuel Benchetrit's "Chez Gino," Studio 37 topper Frederique Dumas said Tuesday.
Studio 37 announced a first-look deal with Rezo Films for Gallic distribution in Cannes last year. Studio 37 also has a "privileged partnership" deal with Gregoire Melin's international sales outlet Kinology.

- While Venice remains a fest that strictly selects auteur driven material, Toronto is a beast of a film festival that serves up a huge heaping plate of films rolled up in red carpets. Tiff is also a great place for journalists to follow up on cinematic experiences from Cannes and conduct some in-depth interviews as I plan to do with those behind the Tales From the Golden Age, A Prophet, Dogtooth, Fish Tank and Police, Adjectiv. They'll most likely receive their North American preems at this festival. So what are Cameron and Piers looking at? Read ahead. Usually reserved for the bigger films and Oscar buzz titles, the Galas and Special Presentations section in Toronto should be populated with: the long awaited thriller from Richard Kelly (The Box), Julie Taymor's The Tempest starring Helen Mirren and coincidentally it would make sense for her hubby Taylor Hackford to bring Love Ranch for show.
