With Harvey Weinstein gone, the entertainment industry operates under a new ruler: The gut check. He’s now a punching bag to represent abuse by powerful men, but now the real work begins. What about everyone else?
“Harvey is aberrant, to be sure, but no anomaly,” veteran screenwriter and USC professor Howard Rodman wrote me in an email. “He’s a rapist, but not the only rapist in our industry, and not the only serial predator by a very long shot. If we use his evident and overweening guilt to exculpate the rest of us, this will be for naught. What’s needed is a sea change. And maybe — just maybe — its time has come.”
Weinstein’s predation has a very, very long tail; new stories arrive daily, with the Los Angeles Police Dept. now opening an investigation into an alleged rape in 2013. “It’s been such crazy couple of weeks,...

A year ago, via her Push It Productions, Wanda Sykes and company partner Page Hurwitz, signed a first-look deal with NBC/Universal TV to develop and produce unscripted projects. Here's one project that has been ordered under that agreement... Sykes, who is also exec producer of “Last Comic Standing” has teamed up with Kenny Smith (exec producer of “The Game”) for a half-hour comedy series that will star Rod Man - the winner of season 8 of "Last Comic Standing." The currently untitled project, which appears to be loosely based on Rod Man's real life, will see the comedian/actor playing a comedian who moves from Georgia to Los Angeles with his...

Is it too obvious to say that Rod Man is still standing at NBC?

Well gang, we've arrived. Tonight is the two-hour finale of Last Comic Standing, where the winner of this televised shindig will be announced. I'll admit, I'm still pretty salty over Joe Machi being eliminated last week, but hopefully that won't tarnish my enjoyment tonight.
The narrator discusses our top three comedians in a hilarious way. Rod Man, Lachlan Patterson, and Nikki Carr are introduced wearing superhero capes and masks, soaring high on laughs and pressure. But first, remember how we started with 100 contestants and had a bunch of mentors? I'm sure priceless memories from the season will serve as great filler tonight.
Jb dances on stage like a robot, while stating that the word of the day is "finale!" Since this is the finale, the judges are introduced on stage. Keenen Ivory Wayans, Russell Peters, and Roseanne make their way into the audience to slap hands with audience members and give out hugs.

Oh my gosh, are we at the final four already? Was there some kind of elimination I totally missed? You guys got a recap last week, right? It's really true -- we're looking at our final four contestants, one who'll eventually receive the glorious title of Last Comic Standing.
We start the show with a few sweaty confessionals from our comedians: Lachlan Patterson, Nikki Carr, Joe Machi, and Rod Man. Not only will this episode be a competition for who gets the most laughs, but it'll be the episode that'll put three of our comics in the series finale next week.
Jb Smoove comes out and introduces the judges. Russell Peters, Keenen Ivory Wayans, and Roseanne seem to be all smiles. ...

Oh my gosh, you guys. The moment is finally here. It's the Ellen episode of Last Comic Standing, and they've been promoting this episode for what feels like 5 months.
When we last left our comics, they were recuperating from their first challenge -- sketch comedy. Only eight comedians are left: Rod Man, Rocky Laporte, Karlous Miller, Lachlan Patterson, Nikki Carr, DC Benny, Monroe Martin, and Joe Machi. The finalists will be mentored by Wanda Sykes this episode, and judged by Ellen --as well as Ellen's audience. And you know the audience over at The Ellen DeGeneres Show is just vicious.
The second challenge will be called "Who's Ready For The Big Time?" and Jb Smoove breaks the news that the comedians will be working with Ellen. "For those of you who don't know, a pre-interview is a process you have to go through with one of the producers of the show,...

You've probably already noticed that the "Last Comic Standing" (Thurs. at 10:00 p.m.) currently on the air is far afield from the so-so series that signed off in 2010. Instead of the eighth season being another showplace for amateurs and a few salty old pros, the top 100 comics in the country were hand-picked by producers to audition by invitation only. The standard is plenty higher than what we've seen previously. In this clip, we get a taste of what's on deck, as well as one longer segment from Rodman. The comedian talks about drinking a little too much to drive and making the decision to pull himself over -- which, of course, inspired a cop to jump in on the action. It's only a snippet, but you can judge whether it's a funny way of making light of a bad situation or not. Are you watching the new and improved...

We are shaken and saddened to report that actress Kate Hudson and Yankees star Alex Rodriguez may have broken up.
According to a HollywoodLife.com source, the A-listers are donesvilled after Rod Man was spotted partying in Miami with a buncha babes and Hudson was all by her lonesome in New York promoting her new musical, 'Nine.'
"Kate and A-Rod broke up," the HollywoodLife.com source insists. There's been no confirmation or denial from either Alex's or Kate's publicist as of yet.
We've called and sent an email. Not a peep. But stay tuned.
Rodriguez and Hudson began dating in May.
So in Hollywood Couples Time, they are actually way overdue for a breakup.
What do you think? Were they the perfect couple or was Kate slumming?
